Effects of Acute Sacral Neuromodulation at Different Pulse Widths on Bladder Overactivity in Pigs

        Huiling Cong,Limin Liao,Yiming Wang,Lingna Zhao,Zhaoxia Wang,Guang Fu,Guoqing Chen 대한배뇨장애요실금학회 2019 International Neurourology Journal Vol.23 No.2

Purpose: Sacral nerve stimulation has been used to treat overactive bladder. This study evaluated the effects of stimulation using different pulse widths on the inhibition of bladder overactivity by sacral nerve stimulation (SNM) in pigs. Methods: Implant-driven stimulators were used to stimulate the S3 spinal nerve in 7 pigs. Cystometry was performed by infusing normal saline (NS) or acetic acid (AA). SNM at pulse widths of 64 μsec to 624 μsec was conducted at the intensity threshold at which observable perianal and/or tail movement was induced. Multiple cystometrograms were performed to determine the effects of different pulse widths on the micturition reflex. Results: AA-induced bladder overactivity reduced the bladder capacity to 46.9%±7.1% of the NS control level (P<0.05). During AA infusion, SNM at 64 μsec, 204 μsec, and 624 μsec increased the bladder capacity to 126.1%±6.9%, 129.5%±7.3%, and 140.1%±7.6% of the AA control level (P<0.05). No significant differences were found among the results obtained using pulse widths of 64 μsec, 204 μsec, and 624 μsec (P>0.05). The actual intensity threshold varied from 0.7 to 8 V. The mean intensity threshold (T visual) for pulse widths of 64 μs, 204 μs, and 624 μs were 5.64±0.76 V, 3.11±0.48 V, and 2.52±0.49 V. T visual for pulse widths of 64 μsec was larger than the other two T visual for pulse widths of 204 μsec and 624 μsec (P<0.05). No significant differences were found among the T visual for pulse widths of 204 μsec and 624 μsec (P>0.05). Conclusions: This study indicated that different pulse widths could play a role in inhibiting bladder overactivity. It is not yet certain which pulse widths increased bladder capacity compared with AA levels, to minimize energy consumption and maintain patient comfort during stimulation, 204 μsec may be an appropriate pulse width for SNM.

Anti-glioma Effect and Safety of Docetaxel-loaded Nanoemulsion

        Huil Gaoe,Xinguo Jiang,Zhiqing Pang,Shuaiqi Pan,Shijie Cao,Zhi Yang,Chen Chen 대한약학회 2012 Archives of Pharmacal Research Vol.35 No.2

Docetaxel, an inhibitor of microtubule depolymerization, has been used for many malignancies. Due to its toxicity and the non-selective distribution of its commercial formulation, Taxotere®, new formulations with less toxicity and tumor targeting need to be explored. For its safety and ease of factory scale production, nanoemulsion, was selected to encapsulate docetaxel. The particle size of docetaxel loaded nanoemulsion (DNE) was 72.3 nm, the average zeta potential was −6.38 mV, the encapsulation efficiency was 93.1% and the drug loading capacity was 2.87%. Although DNE presented similar antiproliferation effects on both U87 cells and bEnd.3 cells, its in vivo toxicity was significantly lower than Taxotere®. In vivo fluorescent imaging suggested nanoemulsions loaded with a fluorescent probe could distribute to the brain and accumulate at the glioma site. The pharmacological experiments also confirmed that the DNE could target glioma sites and prolong the median survival time of mice with gliomas. In conclusion, DNE is a new, less toxic, drug formulation that is effective for brain glioma therapy.

Effect of Laser Power on Hybrid Laser-Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) of a 6061 Aluminum Alloy

        Zhou Huiling,Fu Fanglian,Dai Zhixin,Qiao Yanxin,Chen Jian,Yang Lanlan,Liu Wen 한국물리학회 2020 THE JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY Vol.77 No.11

The effect of laser power on the geometrical characteristics, microstructure and micro-hardness of the welding joints for 6061 aluminum alloy after hybrid laser-gas metal arc welding (GMAW) was investigated. The results showed that the welding joints from "Bottom" to "Top" were mainly composed of planar crystals, columnar crystals, and equiaxed dendrites. With increasing laser power, the weld depth and width and the grain size increased. When the laser power reached 5 kW, pores could be found in the weld pool region. Micro-hardness measurements showed that the application of higher laser power hardly changed the hardness of the welding joint.

Effect of 3.7 at% F doping on the atomic structure and reducibility of CeO2(111) surface: A first principles calculation

        Jia Huiling,Hu Jinbao,Chen Hao,Wu Jinxiu,Tan Xin,Sun Shiyang 한국물리학회 2022 Current Applied Physics Vol.43 No.-

Density functional theory calculations was conducted to clarify effect of fluorination on the reducibility of CeO2 polishing powder. The atomic structure and O vacancy formation energy of F-doped CeO2(111) surface were systematically calculated, and electronic structure was also analyzed to understand the calculation results. It showed that the CeO1.963(111) surface needs absorb 7.853 eV to be reduced further, so it is difficult to generate the second O vacancy (V2). After fluorination, the first O vacancy (V1) in CeO1.926F0.037(111) surface caused adjacent atoms to move significantly, and O vacancy formation energy decreased to 2.913 eV, which promoted the formation of V2. Moreover, electronic structure calculation also showed that the interaction between O2p and Ce4f5d orbits was enhanced in reduced CeO1.963(111) surface, which hindered the formation of V2. The F2p orbit in CeO1.926F0.037(111) surface moved towards the low energy level, V1 made the reduced surface stable and promoted the formation of V2.

Performance optimization of annealing salp swarm algorithm: frameworks and applications for engineering design

        Song Jiuman,Chen Chengcheng,Heidari Ali Asghar,Liu Jiawen,Yu Helong,Chen Huiling 한국CDE학회 2022 Journal of computational design and engineering Vol.9 No.2

Swarm salp algorithm is a swarm intelligence optimization algorithm enlightened by the movement and foraging behaviors of the salp population. The salp swarm algorithm (SSA) has a simple structure and fast processing speed and can gain significant results on objective functions with fewer local optima. However, it has poor exploration ability and is easy to suffer from the local optimal solutions, so it performs poorly on multimodal objective functions. Besides, its unfair balance of exploration and exploitation is another notable shortcoming. To ameliorate these shortcomings and enhance the algorithm’s performance on multimodal functions, this research proposes simulated annealing (SA) improved salp swarm algorithm (SASSA). SASSA embeds the SA strategy into the followers’ position updating method of SSA, performs a certain number of iterations of the SA strategy, and uses Lévy flight to realize the random walk in the SA strategy. SASSA and 23 original and improved competitive algorithms are compared on 30 IEEE CEC2017 benchmark functions. SASSA ranked first in the Friedman test. Compared with SSA, SASSA can obtain better solutions on 27 benchmark functions. The balance and diversity experiment and analysis of SSA and SASSA are carried out. SASSA’s practicability is verified by solving five engineering problems and the fertilizer effect function problem. Experimental and statistical results reveal that the proposed SASSA has strong competitiveness and outperforms all the competitors. SASSA has excellent exploration ability, suitable for solving composition functions with multiple peaks. Meanwhile, SASSA brings about a good balance of exploration and exploitation and dramatically improves the quality of the solutions.

Catalytic reduction of nitric oxide by methane over CaO catalyst

        Wei Xu,Huiling Tong,Changhe Chen,Xuchang Xu 한국화학공학회 2008 Korean Journal of Chemical Engineering Vol.25 No.1

The selective catalytic reduction of nitric oxide by methane was studied over CaO catalyst in a bubbling fluidized bed in the temperature range of 800-900 oC, in which NO cannot be reduced by CH4 without CaO catalyst. The nitric oxide conversion was found to depend on oxygen and CH4 feed concentration, and also on temperature. In addition, the presence of water vapors in the flue gas enhanced the NO reduction admirably well in the absence of O2. But water vapor has an inhibiting effect on the reaction while O2 is present in the flue gas. The addition of CO2 poisoned the CaO catalyst and exhibited a detrimental effect on NO conversion at the working temperature range, 800-900 oC. However, with a temperature rise to 900 oC the CO2 poisoning effect on NO reduction was weakened. The mechanism was studied and discussed according to the references in the paper.

Glutamate attenuates lipopolysaccharide induced intestinal barrier injury by regulating corticotropin-releasing factor pathway in weaned pigs

        Guo Junjie,Liang Tianzeng,Chen Huifu,Li Xiangen,Ren Xiaorui,Wang Xiuying,Xiao Kan,Zhao Jiangchao,Zhu Huiling,Liu Yulan 아세아·태평양축산학회 2022 Animal Bioscience Vol.35 No.8

Objective: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the protection of glutamate (GLU) against the impairment in intestinal barrier function induced by lipopolysaccharide (LPS) stress in weaned pigs. Methods: Twenty-four weaned pigs were divided into four treatments containing: i) nonchallenged control, ii) LPS-challenged control, iii) LPS+1.0% GLU, and iv) LPS+2.0% GLU. On day 28, pigs were treated with LPS or saline. Blood samples were collected at 0, 2, and 4 h post-injection. After blood samples collection at 4 h, all pigs were slaughtered, and spleen, mesenteric lymph nodes, liver and intestinal samples were obtained. Results: Dietary GLU supplementation inhibited the LPS-induced oxidative stress in pigs, as demonstrated by reduced malondialdehyde level and increased glutathione level in jejunum. Diets supplemented with GLU enhanced villus height, villus height/crypt depth and claudin-1 expression, attenuated intestinal histology and ultrastructure impairment induced by LPS. Moreover, GLU supplementation reversed intestinal intraepithelial lymphocyte number decrease and mast cell number increase induced by LPS stress. GLU reduced serum cortisol concentration at 4 h after LPS stress and downregulated the mRNA expression of intestinal corticotropin-releasing factor signal (corticotrophin-releasing factor [CRF], CRF receptor 1 [CRFR1], glucocorticoid receptor, tryptase, nerve growth factor, tyrosine kinase receptor A), and prevented mast cell activation. GLU upregulated the mRNA expression of intestinal transforming growth factor β. Conclusion: These findings indicate that GLU attenuates LPS-induced intestinal mucosal barrier injury, which is associated with modulating CRF signaling pathway. Graph Theory-based Approach for Partial Topology Identification of Stochastic Multi-group Models With Multiple Dispersal

        Chunmei Zhang,Dan Xia,Huiling Chen,Guiling Chen 제어·로봇·시스템학회 2023 International Journal of Control, Automation, and Vol.21 No.9

This paper is mainly concerned with partial topology identification of stochastic multi-group models with multiple dispersals (SMGMMD) by adaptive pinning control. By using a graph-theoretic approach and adaptive synchronization techniques, some sufficient criteria for partial topology identification of SMGMMD with time delay are obtained. Meanwhile, the partial topological structures of SMGMMD without time delay and the whole topological structures of SMGMMD can also be identified successfully. Finally, coupled Lorenz systems with time delay are identified to demonstrate the feasibility and effectiveness of theoretical results.
