      • SCYL1BP1 has Tumor-suppressive Functions in Human Lung Squamous Carcinoma Cells by Regulating Degradation of MDM2

        Yang, Zhi-Ping,Xie, Yong-Hong,Ling, Dan-Yan,Li, Jin-Rui,Jiang, Jin,Fan, Yao-Hua,Zheng, Jia-Lian,Wu, Wan-Xin Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2014 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.15 No.17

SCY1-like 1-binding protein 1 (SCYL1BP1) is a newly identified transcriptional activator domain containing protein with many unknown biological functions. Recently emerging evidence has revealed that it is a novel regulator of the p53 pathway, which is very important for the development of human cancer. However, the effects of SCYL1BP1 on human lung squamous carcinoma cell biological behavior remain poorly understood. In this study, we present evidence that SCYL1BP1 can promote the degradation of MDM2 protein and further inhibit the G1/S transition of lung squamous carcinoma cell lines. Functional assays found that reintroduction of SCYL1BP1 into lung squamous carcinoma cell lines significantly inhibited cell proliferation, migration, invasion and tumor formation in nude mice, suggesting strong tumor suppressive function of SCYL1BP1 in lung squamous carcinoma. Taken together, our data suggest that the interaction of SCYL1BP1/MDM2 could accelerate MDM2 degradation, and may function as an important tumor suppressor in lung squamous carcinomas.

Synchronous Ectopic Pancreatoblastoma in a Child: A Case Report

        Zhi-Hao Yang,Jian-Bo Gao,Song-Wei Yue,Xue-Hua Yang,Hua Guo 대한의학회 2011 Journal of Korean medical science Vol.26 No.6

Pancreatoblastoma is a rare primary pancreatic neoplasm of children that may arise in any portion of the pancreas. We report a case of a 3-yr-old boy who presented to with abdominal pain our hospital and a progressive bulge in his right abdomen. Biochemical evaluation and serum levels of tumoral markers were within reference limits. On the computed tomography, two tumors were found. One located in the head of the pancreas;however, a laparotomy revealed that the head of pancreas was compressed but normal. The other was in the left abdomen near the spleen and the tail of the pancreas. The diagnosis of two synchronous pancreatoblastoma originating from the omentum was confirmed by pathology. Therefore, a pancreatoblastoma should be considered when a large well-defined, lobulated, and heterogeneous mass is identified in the pancreas of children. In addition, an ectopic pancreatoblastoma should be considered when identified within or near the ectopic pancreatic tissue.

Damage identification in beam-like pipeline based on modal information

        Yang, Zhi-Rong,Li, Hong-Sheng,Guo, Xing-Lin,Li, Hong-Yan Techno-Press 2007 Structural Engineering and Mechanics, An Int'l Jou Vol.26 No.2

Damage detection based on measured vibration data has received intensive studies recently. Frequently, the damage to a structure may be reflected by a change of some system parameters, such as a degradation of the stiffness. In this paper, we apply a method to nondestructively locate and estimate the severity of damage in corrosion pipeline for which a few natural frequencies or mode shapes are available. The method is based on the strain modal sensitivity ratio (SMSR) and the orthogonality conditions sensitivities (OCS) applied to vibration features identified during the monitoring of the pipeline. The advantage of these methods is that it only requires measuring few modal parameters. The SMSR-based and OCS-based damage detection methods are illustrated using computer-simulated and laboratory testing data. The results show that the current method provides a precise indication of both the location and the extent of corrosion pipeline.

Preparation and characterization of novel polyethylene/carbon nanotubes nanocomposites with core–shell structure

        Zhi Liu,Qigu Huang,Mengshan Yu,Jing Wang,Fengjiao Li,Lu Cheng,Jiangping Guo,Yang Zhou,Baichun Zhu,Jianjun Yi,Yunfang Liu,Wantai Yang 한국공업화학회 2014 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.20 No.4

Preparation of novel polyethylene/carbon nanotubes (CNTs) nanocomposites with core–shell structure was presented. The method involved in situ ethylene polymerization in which nanotube surface was treated with Grignard Agent, followed by reacting with active transition metal compound, TiCl4. The multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) supported catalysts polymerize ethylene to form polymer nanocomposite. MWCNTs were homogeneously dispersed within polymer matrix, and as expected, the resultant nanocomposites featured core–shell structure which was confirmed by HRTEM. For the nanocomposite, the microscopic examination of the cryogenically fractured surface not only ensured a good distribution of carbon nano-particles in the PE matrix but also revealed the ductile-like fracture. The Raman spectroscopy and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) were employed for the study of covalent sidewall functionalization and chemical bonding environment of MWCNTs, also indicated effective immobilization of titanium catalyst on the MWCNTs surface. The crystalline properties, dielectric property and thermal stability of the nanocomposites were determined by WAXD, impedance analyzer and TGA. The dielectric result showed a slight decline of the dielectric constant of the nanocomposites with increase of the polymerization time, and lower dielectric loss was also observed.

An Efficient Multi-PCA Based On-line Monitoring Scheme for Multi-Stages Imperial Smelting Process

        Zhi-kun Hu,Zhi-wen Chen,Wei-Hua Gui,Chun-hua Yang,Lin-zi Yin,Xiao-qi Peng 제어·로봇·시스템학회 2013 International Journal of Control, Automation, and Vol.11 No.2

Imperial Smelting Process (ISP) is one of the main methods for Zinc and Lead smelting. In this paper, we firstly focus on its unique characteristics that ISP consists of many feeding cycles repeated in a similar way, and the normal process changes and multiple operating conditions would be frequently found in the process which would always lead to false alarms. To this end, we classify each feeding cycles of ISP into initial stage, transition stage, and steady stage, and use standard PCA, first order perturbation (FOP) based recursive dynamic PCA and multi-mode approach to deal with them respectively. The monitoring results using real data show that the proposed scheme can be able to eliminate false alarms and detect faults efficiently.

      • GUI Reliability Assessment based on Bayesian Network and Structural Profile

        Zhi-Fang Yang,Zhong-Xing Yu,Bei-Bei Yin,Cheng-Gang Bai 보안공학연구지원센터(IJSIP) 2015 International Journal of Signal Processing, Image Vol.8 No.1

Graphical User Interfaces (GUI) is becoming increasingly important in the software field as it builds a friendly way between users and software through continuous interactions. A well-developed GUI is therefore an important factor of software quality. In particular, the reliability of GUIs is still on the way of development. Existing software reliability assessment techniques attempt to statistically describe the software testing process and predict the reliability of the system. However, those techniques are not suitable for GUI as quality of GUI is challenged by immense number of event interactions and complex structural profile etc. Furthermore, GUI has a wealth of information about GUI architecture, components, windows and their interactions with each other, which can be adopted to guide the testing process and establish confidence assessment of GUI. In this paper, a Bayesian network model of GUI reliability is introduced to discuss the reliability model topology and its issues encountered in the modeling process. A case is also presented to verify the validity of the model during the GUI reliability assessment process.

      • Quinoxaline-Based Wide Band Gap Polymers for Efficient Nonfullerene Organic Solar Cells with Large Open-Circuit Voltages

        Yang, Jie,Uddin, Mohammad Afsar,Tang, Yumin,Wang, Yulun,Wang, Yang,Su, Huimin,Gao, Rutian,Chen, Zhi-Kuan,Dai, Junfeng,Woo, Han Young,Guo, Xugang American Chemical Society 2018 ACS APPLIED MATERIALS & INTERFACES Vol.10 No.27

<P>We present here a series of wide-band-gap (<I>E</I>g: >1.8 eV) polymer donors by incorporating thiophene-flanked phenylene as an electron-donating unit and quinoxaline as an electron-accepting co-unit to attain large open-circuit voltages (<I>V</I>ocs) and short-circuit currents (<I>J</I>scs) in nonfullerene organic solar cells (OSCs). Fluorination was utilized to fine-tailor the energetics of polymer frontier molecular orbitals (FMOs) by replacing a variable number of H atoms on the phenylene moiety with F. It was found that fluorination can effectively modulate the polymer backbone planarity through intramolecular noncovalent S···F and/or H···F interactions. Polymers (P2-P4) show an improved molecular packing with a favorable face-on orientation compared to their nonfluorinated analogue (P1), which is critical to charge carrier transport and collection. When mixed with IDIC, a nonfullerene acceptor, P3 with two F atoms, achieves a remarkable <I>V</I>oc of 1.00 V and a large <I>J</I>sc of 15.99 mA/cm2, simultaneously, yielding a power-conversion efficiency (PCE) of 9.7%. Notably, the 1.00 V <I>V</I>oc is among the largest values in the IDIC-based OSCs, leading to a small energy loss (<I>E</I>loss: 0.62 eV) while maintaining a large PCE. The P3:IDIC blend shows an efficient exciton dissociation through hole transfer even under a small energy offset of 0.16 eV. Further fluorination leads to the polymer P4 with increased chain-twisting and mismatched FMO levels with IDIC, showing the lowest PCE of 2.93%. The results demonstrate that quinoxaline-based copolymers are promising donors for efficient OSCs and the fluorination needs to be fine-adjusted to optimize the interchain packing and physicochemical properties of polymers. Additionally, the structure-property correlations from this work provide useful insights for developing wide-band-gap polymers with low-lying highest occupied molecular orbitals to minimize <I>E</I>loss and maximize <I>V</I>oc in nonfullerene OSCs for efficient power conversion.</P> [FIG OMISSION]</BR>

A damage localization method based on the singular value decomposition (SVD) for plates

        Zhi-Bo Yang,Jin-Tao Yu,Shao-Hua Tian,Xue-Feng Chen,Guan-Ji Xu 국제구조공학회 2018 Smart Structures and Systems, An International Jou Vol.22 No.5

Boundary effect and the noise robustness are the two crucial aspects which affect the effectiveness of the damage localization based on the mode shape measurements. To overcome the boundary effect problem and enhance the noise robustness in damage detection, a simple damage localization method is proposed based on the Singular Value Decomposition (SVD) for the mode shape of composite plates. In the proposed method, the boundary effect problem is addressed by the decomposition and reconstruction of mode shape, and the noise robustness in enhanced by the noise filtering during the decomposition and reconstruction process. Numerical validations are performed on plate-like structures for various damage and boundary scenarios. Validations show that the proposed method is accurate and effective in the damage detection for the two-dimensional structures.

      • Are p53 Antibodies a Diagnostic Indicator for Patients with Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma? Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

Yang, Zhi-Cheng,Ling, Li,Xu, Zhi-Wei,Sui, Xiao-Dong,Feng, Shuang,Zhang, Jun Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2016 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.17 No.1

Background: P53 has been reported to be involved with tumorigenesis and has also been implicated as a significant biomarker in oral squamous cell carcinoma(OSCC). However, the diagnostic value of p53 antibodies remains controversial; hence, we comprehensively and quantitatively assessed the potential in the present systematic review. Materials and Methods: A comprehensive search was performed using PubMed and Embase, up to October 31, 2014, without language restriction. Studies were assessed for quality using QUADAS (quality assessment of studies of diagnostic accuracy). The positive likelihood ratio (PLR) and negative likelihood ratio (NLR) were pooled separately and compared with overall accuracy measures using diagnostic odds ratios (DORs) and symmetric summary receiver operating characteristic (SROC) curves. Results: Of 150 studies initially identified, 7 eligible regarding serum p53 antibodies met the inclusion criteria. Some 85.7% (6/7) were of relatively high quality (QUADAS $score{\geq}7$). The summary estimates for quantitative analysis of serum p53 antibody in the diagnosis of squamous cell carcinoma were: PLR 2.06 [95% confidence interval (CI) : 1.35-3.15], NLR 0.85 (95%CI: 0.80-0.90) and DOR 2.47 (95%CI: 1.49-4.12). Conclusions: This meta-analysis suggests that the use of s-p53-antibodies has potential diagnostic value with relatively high sensitivity and specificity for OSCC particularly with serum specimens for discrimination of OSCCs from healthy controls. However, its discrimination power is not perfect because of low sensitivity.
