Photo-selective colored nets have been used as a tool to reduce climatic stress and improve yields in horticultural crops, butthere is no knowledge regarding responses of hazelnut crops under these nets. The objective of this research was to study theinfl uence of photo-selective nets on the microclimate, physiological characteristics of leaves, and yield in hazelnut. Duringthree consecutive seasons, a hazelnut orchard ´Tonda di Giff oni´ was covered with black, blue-gray, and pearl-gray colorednets with a standard density of 4 warp and weft threads cm −1 . Uncovered trees were used as the control. Microclimaticconditions (solar radiation intensity and composition, air temperature, relative humidity, and vapor pressure defi cit, VPD),yield components (accumulated yield; yield by harvest date; fruit weight, FW; and seed weight, SW), and leaf physiologicalcharacteristics (net photosynthesis rate, A n ; stomatal conductance, g s ; specifi c leaf weight, SLW; and stomatal density, SD)were evaluated. Pearl-gray netting had the greatest increase in diff use (47%) and global (5%) solar radiation compared toblue-gray and black nettings. VPD decreased by 12% under black netting, but only by 5% under pearl-gray and blue-graynetting. Pearl-gray nets signifi cantly increased accumulated yield, FW, and SW by 12, 13, and 6% compared to the control, respectively. Black and blue-gray nets reduced SD by 8 and 30% and SLW by 15 and 20%, respectively. Pearl-gray nettingdid not alter either SD or SLW. A signifi cant relationship between A n and g s was found under all nets, but not for the control. The relationship between A n and g s was signifi cantly positive for pearl-gray netting and negative for blue-gray netting. Photo-selective netting is a physiology-based tool that improves yield in hazelnut orchards under extreme climate conditions. Pearl-gray netting is the most promising alternative for this fruit crop.

The effect of PHAR-DBH-Me, a cannabinoid receptor agonist, on different cardiovascular responses in adult male rats was analyzed. The blood pressure was measured directly and indirectly. The coronary flow was measured by Langendorff preparation, and vasomotor responses induced by PHAR-DBH-Me in aortic rings precontracted with phenylephrine (PHEN) were analyzed. The intravenous injection of the compound PHAR-DBH-Me (0.018–185 μg/kg) resulted in decreased blood pressure; maximum effect was observed at the dose of 1,850 μg/kg. A concentrationdependent increase in the coronary flow was observed in a Langendorff preparation. In the aortic rings, with and without endothelium, pre-contracted with PHEN (10–6 M), the addition of PHAR-DBH-Me to the superfusion solution (10–12–10–5 M), produced a vasodilator response, which depends on the concentration and presence of the endothelium. L-NAME inhibited these effects. Addition of CB1 receptor antagonist (AM 251) did not modify the response, while CB2 receptor antagonist (AM630) decreased the potency of relaxation elicited by PHAR-DBH-Me. Indomethacin shifted the curve concentration-response to the left and produced an increase in the magnitude of the maximum endothelium dependent response to this compound. The maximum effect of PHAR-DBH-Me was observed with the concentration of 10–5 M. These results show that PHAR-DBH-Me has a concentration-dependent and endothelium-dependent vasodilator effect through CB2 receptor. This vasodilation is probably mediated by the synthesis/release of NO. On the other hand, it is suggested that PHAR-DBH-Me also induces the release of a vasoconstrictor prostanoid.
A Primary-Side-Assisted Zero-Voltage and Zero-Current Switching

A new primary-side-assisted zero-voltage and zero-current switching (ZVZCS) three-level DC-DC converter with flying capacitor is proposed The three-level converters are promising in high voltage applications, and ZVZCS is a very effective means for reducing switching losses The proposed DC-DC converter uses only one auxiliary transformer and two diodes to obtain ZCS for the inner leg It has a simple and robust structure, and offers soft-switching capability even in short-circuited conditions The proposed converter was verified by experiments in a 6KW prototype designed for communication applications and operating at 100 kHz.<br/>
The Rare and Challenging Presentation of Gastric Cancer during Pregnancy: A Report of Three Cases
Pacheco, Sergio,Norero, Enrique,Canales, Claudio,Martinez, Jose Miguel,Herrera, Maria Elisa,Munoz, Carolina,Jarufe, Nicolas The Korean Gastric Cancer Association 2016 Journal of gastric cancer Vol.16 No.4
Pregnancy-associated gastric cancer is extremely rare. In many cases, it is diagnosed at an advanced stage because the symptoms during pregnancy are generally overlooked. We report three cases of gastric cancer during pregnancy with various outcomes. The first case included a patient with stage IV gastric cancer who received palliative chemotherapy. This patient had a preterm birth and died 7 months after diagnosis. The second case received neoadjuvant chemotherapy during pregnancy and a total gastrectomy was performed after delivery. She then received adjuvant chemoradiotherapy. This patient developed pulmonary metastasis and died of recurrence 41 months after surgery. In the third case, a distal subtotal gastrectomy was performed at week 14 of pregnancy, with no complications. The patient received adjuvant chemoradiotherapy. She is currently without recurrence 14 months after surgery. In patients with pregnancy-associated gastric cancer, treatment decisions are predominantly influenced by clinical stage and gestational age at diagnosis.

Resection and reconstruction of the chest wall for the radical surgical treatment of ma- lignant soft tissue tumors are currently considered a substantial challenge for thoracic surgeons. We present an unusual case of infantile fibrosarcoma with tropomyosin 3-neu- rotrophic receptor tyrosine kinase 1 fusion in a 13-year-old patient. The surgical treatment consisted of radical resection of the right posterior chest wall and reconstruction with the use of the STRATOS (Strasbourg Thoracic Osteosynthesis System) titanium rib bridge sys- tem. The patient had a favorable postoperative course and received respiratory-ventilatory rehabilitation, adjuvant therapy with chemotherapeutic agents, immunotherapy, and ra- diotherapy.
Could Acupuncture Be Useful in the Treatment of Temporomandibular Dysfunction?
Ca´ssia Maria Grillo,Giancarlo De la Torre Canales,Ronaldo Seichi Wada,Marcelo Correˆa Alves,Ce´lia Marisa Rizzatti Barbosa,Fausto Berzin,Maria da Luz Rosa´rio de Sousa 사단법인약침학회 2015 Journal of Acupuncture & Meridian Studies Vol.8 No.4
In this study, the effects of acupuncture in comparison with flat occlusal plane appliance were evaluated in patient with myogenic temporomandibular dysfunction (TMD). The sample consisted of 40 women with TMD and unbalanced energy predominance of Yang Liver Ascension, selected using the Renying and Cunkou pulses, randomly divided into two groups: acupuncture and splint. The effect of treatments on the masseter and anterior temporal muscles was evaluated after 4 weeks of treatment, by means of electromyographic activity (root mean square) and pain pressure threshold. Pain intensity was measured using the visual analog scale, and range of mouth opening was evaluated using a millimeter ruler. All evaluations were performed at the beginning and end of the treatment. Visual analog scale score was reduced equally in the two groups (p < 0001), and the increase in range of mouth opening was significant in both groups. A significant difference was detected only in pain pressure threshold of the left masseter in the acupuncture group (p < 0.05). Only root mean square in the at rest position of the right temporal muscle diminished in the final stage of the splint group (p < 0.05). Both treatments reduced the pain intensity of myogenic TMD in the short term and may be considered strategies for control of chronic pain related to TMD.

A performance comparison of an interleaved boost converter (IBC) using Si and SiC diodes for PV energy conversion systems is presented in this paper. Performance attributes under investigation include the device behavior, thermal requirement, system efficiency and power density. The interleaved boost converter is designed for sustaining the dc link voltage in the energy conversion system. Due to the absence of reverse recovery current in SiC Schottky diodes, low switching loss is generated in the diodes and the switches. This benefit causes higher system efficiency and lower cooling system design requirement. As a benefit, the volume and weight of the heatsink can be further reduced. Furthermore, behaviors of semiconductors and steady-state characteristics of IBC are discussed in the paper. The validity of the analyses is confirmed experimentally by using a 2.5 ㎾ IBC prototype with wide power and input voltage operating range.
