        In the study, we have developed a straightening system for the SUS 304 micro wires that are normally used in the medical and semi-conductor fields. To apply heat to the micro wires, we introduced the direct wire heating method which generates the thermal energy by the electrical resistance of the wire itself. To avoid the deterioration of the wire surface by the environment, such as the oxidation or the hydration, the N_(2) gas was filled in the glass pipe in which the straightening process was being performed. A precision tension meter was also attached to control the tension of the wire during the heating and straightening process. In order to control the straightening process, several experimental investigations with varying the tension, the feeding velocity and the temperature (current) was carried out. As a result of experiments, we obtained the optimal processing conditions satisfying the straightness requirement of the micro wires.

        A Low-Power Unified Arithmetic Unit for Programmable Handheld 3-D Graphics Systems

        <P> A low-power, area-efficient four-way 32-bit multifunction arithmetic unit has been developed for programmable shaders for handheld 3-D graphics systems. It adopts the logarithmic number system (LNS) at the arithmetic core for the single-cycle throughput and the small-size low-power unification of various complicated arithmetic operations such as power, logarithm, trigonometric functions, vector-SIMD multiplication, division, square root and vector dot product. 24-region and 16-region piecewise linear logarithmic and antilogarithmic converters are proposed with 0.8% and 0.02% maximum conversion error, respectively. All the supported operations are implemented with less than 6.3% operation error and unified into a single arithmetic platform with maximum four-cycle latency and single-cycle throughput. A 93 K gate test chip is fabricated using one-poly five-metal 0.18-<TEX>$\mu{\hbox {m}}$</TEX> CMOS technology. It operates at 210 MHz with maximum power consumption of 15.3 mW at 1.8 V. </P>

        A Multifunction Unit for Matrix, Vector and Elementary Functions Computation in Mobile GPU Shaders

        This paper presents a delay and area optimized multifunction unit with a wide operation set of matrix, vector, and elementary functions for mobile and wearable GPU shaders. The proposed unit unifies 25 non-trivial arithmetic operations on its single four-way arithmetic hardware. It employs two programmable modules for the unification of its operations. Novel unification architectures for these programmable modules are presented to optimize delay and area of the unit. Based on these architectures, the multifunction unit shows 10% and 3.5% reductions in its delay and area, respectively, compared with the prior art.

        Eval - Apply 모델의 STGM에 기반하여 지연 계산 함수형 프로그램을 자바로 컴파일하는 기법

        최근에 지연 계산 함수형 언어를 자바 프로그램으로 변환함으로써 지연 계산 함수형 언어 프로그램에 대해 코드 이동성을 제공하려는 연구가 있었다. 이러한 연구들은 자바와 지연 계산형 함수형 언어의 추상 기계가 가지는 구조적 유사성에 바탕을 두고 있다. 지연 계산 함수형 언어에 대한 추상 기계인 STGM(Spineless Tagless G-Machine)과 자바 언어에 대한 추상 기계인 JVM(Java Virtual Machine)은 기억장소 재활용 체계와 스택 기계 구조를 가진다는 점에서 공통된 특징을 가지고 있다. 그러나 현재까지의 지연 계산 함수형 언어로부터 자바로의 변환 구조는 이와 같은 추상 기계 구조상의 공통점을 충분히 이용하지 못하였다. 본 논문에서는 STGM의 계산 모델을 eval-apply 모델로 새로이 정의함으로써 STGM과 JVM의 공통점을 충분히 이용하는 새로운 변환 구도를 제안한다. 새로이 제안된 변환 구도에서는 자바 스택(Java Virtual Machine Stack)을 사용하여 함수 계산을 수행하도록 함으로써 스택 시뮬레이션으로 인해 나타나는 자바에서의 배열 접근 부담을 제거하였다. 본 논문의 변환 구도에 의해 자바로 변환된 벤치마크 프로그램들은 기존의 변환 구도에 의해 변환된 경우보다 JDK 1.3에서 빠르게 동작한다. Recently there have been a number of researches to provide code mobility to lazy functional language (LFL) programs by translating LFL programs to Java programs. These approaches are basically based on architectural similarities between abstract machines of LFLs and Java. The abstract machines of LFLs and Java programming language, Spineless Tagless G-Machine(STGM) and Java Virtual Machine(JVM) respectively, share important common features such as built-in garbage collector and stack machine architecture. Thus, we can provide code mobility to LFLs by translating LFLs to Java utilizing these common features. In this paper, we propose a new translation scheme which fully utilizes architectural common features between STGM and JVM. By redefining STGM as an eval-apply evaluation model, we have defined a new translation scheme which utilizes Java Virtual Machine Stack for function evaluation and totally eliminates stack simulation which causes array manipulation overhead in Java. Benchmark programs translated to Java programs by our translation scheme run faster on JDK 1.3 than those translated by the previous schemes.

        <P>A few facile synthetic pathways for bicyclic aminopyridinol antioxidants are presented. Attachment of a long alkyl chain to the bicyclic pyridinol scaffold was established using ester linkage. Non-substituted pyrrolopyridinols and 1,3-oxazine-fused pyridinols were also synthesized as novel antioxidant scaffolds.       • Highly efficient and bending durable perovskite solar cells: toward a wearable power source

        <P>Perovskite solar cells are promising candidates for realizing an efficient, flexible, and lightweight energy supply system for wearable electronic devices. For flexible perovskite solar cells, achieving high power conversion efficiency (PCE) while using a low-temperature technology for the fabrication of a compact charge collection layer is a critical issue. Herein, we report on a flexible perovskite solar cell exhibiting 12.2% PCE as a result of the employment of an annealing-free, 20 nm thick, amorphous, compact TiO<SUB><I>x</I></SUB> layer deposited by atomic layer deposition. The excellent performance of the cell was attributed to fast electron transport, verified by time-resolved photoluminescence and impedance studies. The PCE remained the same down to 0.4 sun illumination, as well as to a 45° tilt to incident light. Mechanical bending of the devices worsened device performance by only 7% when a bending radius of 1 mm was used. The devices maintained 95% of the initial PCE after 1000 bending cycles for a bending radius of 10 mm. Degradation of the device performance by the bending was the result of crack formation from the transparent conducting oxide layer, demonstrating the potential of the low-temperature-processed TiO<SUB><I>x</I></SUB> layer to achieve more efficient and bendable perovskite solar cells, which becomes closer to a practical wearable power source.</P> <P>Graphic Abstract</P><P>We report annealing-free compact TiO<SUB><I>x</I></SUB> layer by atomic layer deposition for high efficiency flexible perovskite solar cells, and maintained 95% of the initial PCE after 1000 bending cycles with 10 mm bending radius. <IMG SRC='http://pubs.rsc.org/services/images/RSCpubs.ePlatform.Service.FreeContent.ImageService.svc/ImageService/image/GA?id=c4ee02441a'> </P>

        사인추출물의 인슐린 유사 성장인자-I의 합성과 피부 노화 개선에 대한 효과

        본 연구에서 프로모터-리포터 분석방법을 통해 인슐린 유사 성장인자-I의 프로모터를 자극하는 천연물을 선별한 결과 사인 추출물이 가장 좋은 프로모터 자극효과를 나타냈으며, 무모생쥐에서 패쇄첩포 후 RT-PCR로 실험한 결과 IGF-1 mRNA를 35% 증가시키는 것으로 나타났다. 사인 추출물의 피부 주름개선 효과를 알아보기 위하여 인체 섬유아세포에서는 type-I collagen과 MMP-1 합성 변화를 관찰하였으며, 무모생쥐에서는 콜라젠의 증가와 진피 두께를 관찰하였다. 그 결과, 동위원소를 이용한 콜라젠 증가실험에서 type-I collagen은 38% 증가하였으며 무모생쥐에서 실시한 RT-PCR 결과에서는 mRNA가 21% 증가하는 것으로 관찰되었다. MMP-1 효소발현의 경우 ELISA 분석을 통해서 63%의 높은 발현저해능을 확인하였고 Western blot에서도 발현이 저해되는 것을 확인하였다 추출물을 무모생쥐에 패쇄첩포 하였을 경우 대조군에 비해 진피 두께가 두꺼워지고 콜라젠 양도 증가되는 것으로 조직염색 관찰을 통해 확인하였다. 이상의 결과를 통해 사인추출물은 피부 주름개선에 좋은 효과를 나타내는 것으로 보이며, 여기에는 인슐린 유사성장 인자-I의 발현증가와 관련된 기전이 관여하는 것으로 판단된다. We screened several materials to stimulate IGF-1 promoter activity using luciferase reporter assay and found that Amomi Semen extract (ASE) among them is the most powerful stimulator. We also studied about the anti-wrinkle effect of ethanolic extract of Amoni Semen in vitro and in vivo. Semi-quantitative RT-PCR showed that the extract elevated the presence level of IGF-1 mRNA. And [<sup>3</sup>H] proline incorporation and semi-quantitative RT-PCR showed that the extract increased the expression of type-I collagen compared with vehicle in vitro and in vivo, respectively. Significant inhibition of MMP-1 expression was determined by ELISA and Western blot. Finally, topical treatment of the extract on hairless mouse's dorsal skin expanded the volume of collagen and dermal thickness. These results suggest that Amomi Semen may be a good candidate for improving extracellular matrix through the increase of collagen expression and inhibition of MMP-1 expression. Moreover, this study enables us to guess that IGF-1 stimulated by the extract may be involved in the mechanism of anti-wrinkle effect of it.
