        Metodología de Español Superior para Estudiantes del GSIT

        In the special case of students accepted to the Korean-Spanish department at the program of the Graduate School of Interpreting and Translation (GSIT) with Korean as language A and Spanish as language B, the methodology of teaching Spanish language must be oriented in tandem with the work of translating texts which is characterized by the use of formal and specialized language, and also conference interpreting which is the final objective of the training of students entering this graduate program of Hankuk University of Foreign Studies (HUFS). This paper seeks to justify the use of a single methodology in teaching advanced Spanish to the students of GSIT, HUFS, considering the required fundamentals for entering the graduate program and the pressing needs that require students to master Spanish language according to the market demand in specialized and formal interpretation at conferences, seminars, meetings and also in translation for the diplomatic field.

        La Traduccion Audiovisual para Narracion de coreano a espanol

        한국어-스페인어 번역은 한국 경제, 문화, 사회, 정치 등 다양한 분야에서 활발히 이루어지고 있다. 영상 번역 분야 또한 예외가 아니다. 이 중 내레이션 번역은 영상 번역 분야에서 가장 일반적으로 많이 이루어지는 번역 작업 중 하나이다. 본 연구는 남미 및 스페인에 한국 기업과 제품을 홍보하는 홍보 영상을 중심으로 한국어에서 스페인어 방향의 영상 텍스트 번역을 분석하고자 한다. 또한 영상 번역 작업이 영상물 제작의 일 부분을 차지하는 것이 아니라 영상물 제작에 있어 가장 중요한 부분을 차지하는 이유에 대해 설명한다. 본 연구는 영상물 제작 과정, 원본 텍스트의 번역 과정, 그리고 스튜디오 내레이션 녹음을 위한 수정 과정을 분석하여 최종 번역 텍스트가 내레이션으로 발화됐을 때 생기는 문제점을 알아보기 위해 이 용도로 제작된 몇 개의 샘플 텍스트를 살펴보도록 한다. 또한 본 연구는 이러한 형태의 번역에서 고려되는 주요 요소들에 대해서도 살펴보고 마지막으로 남미 및 스페인 시장에서 한국 기업 및 제품 홍보 영상 번역에 적합한 텍스트 유형을 제공한다. 본 연구에서 제안하는 전략은 홍보 영상의 질적 향상과 남미, 스페인을 포함한 현지 시청자들의 한국 회사 및 제품에 대한 이해를 돕는 데 중요한 역할을 할 것으로 기대된다.

        섬유상 활성탄을 이용한 수용액 중의 반응성 염료의 흡착 및 THM 생성능의 변화

        This study was carried out to treat the aqueous solutions containing reactive dyes(RB19, RR120 and RY179) by adsorption process using activated carbon fiber(ACF). And the changes of Trihalomethane Formation Potential(THMFP) in the model experimental system was investigated. ACF(A-15) has much larger specific surface area(1,584㎡/g-ACF) in comparison with granular activated carbon adsorbent(F400, 1,125㎡/g-GAC), which is commonly used, and most of pores were found to be micropores with pore radius of 2㎚ and below. It was found that RY179 has highest THMFP, and RB19 was most easily adsorbed among the dyes in this study. Increase and decrease of THMFP concentrations were observed before and after adsorption of reactive dyes on ACF(A-15). THMFPs per unit TOC were significantly decreased after adsorption of reactive dyes. And 70% of THMFP was decreased in adsorbed dye(RY179) solution. In the case of PCP(p-chlorophenol) and sucrose, which are single component adsorbate, adsorption capacities of ACF(A-15) were in good agreement with the batch adsorption measurement, and saturation time predicted of ACF columns for these components was also well agreed with practically measured time. But in the case of reactive dyes, which have relatively high molecular weight and aggregated with multi-components, adsorption capacities and saturation time predicted were not agreed with practically measured values.

        Present and Future of Air Navigation: PBN Operations and Supporting Technologies

        The present work reviews the new concept of operation that will be soon implemented in SESAR and NextGen (January 2020) using new state-of-the-art technology mainly based on onboard avionics: data link equipment, broadcast and surveillance systems, and Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) area augmentation. One of the main improvements of Performance-Based Navigation (PBN) is the use of satellites and more precise and accurate onboard instruments than current standard avionics related to ground-based navigation aids (VOR, NDB, DME, etc.). Air navigation systems have been without mayor updates for nearly 40 years, when most Very High Frequency Omnidirectional Range (VOR) and Tactical Air Navigation (TACAN) systems were implemented worldwide in the civil and military fields, respectively. These standard navigation systems lack new required performance navigation and required big deal of maintenance, especially in redundant systems. Recently, the development of new and precise GNSS and communication systems has allowed their use on different scenarios: Instrumental Flight Rules (IFR) departures, initial and final approaches, etc. Additionally, in several international airports, Ground Based Augmentation System (GBAS) approaches have been already successfully tested and implemented. Related to GBAS, the Automatic Dependent Surveillance Broadcast (ADS-B) is a cooperative technology that enhances pilots and controllers’ situation awareness, since ADS-B broadcasts own and other aircraft position. Controller Pilot Data Link Communications (CPDLC) may be another key element of the PBN concept of operations (CONOPS), since it provides air–ground data communications for the air traffic control (ATC) service and the aircrew, reducing risks associated to human factor: poor speaking, radio congestion, message confusion, standardization, etc. The main goal of this review is to present the PBN concept and the potentially supporting Communication, Navigation and Surveillance (CNS) systems, in the context of the NextGen and SESAR Air Traffic Management (ATM) modernization programmes.

        Effects of Prenatal Drug Exposure on Children’s Working Memory: A Systematic Review

        Purpose: Substance use during pregnancy is a public health problem. Prenatal drug exposure (PDE) is linked to abnormal physical growth, altered brain organization, and cognitive, emotional, and behavioral problems later in life. Working memory (WM) plays an important role in the cognitive processes required for academic achievement, particularly for problem-solving, planning, and decision-making. The purpose of this study was to conduct a systematic review of studies measuring the effect of PDE on children’s WM. Methods: Using the Joanna Briggs Institute Reviewers’ Manual, we systematically reviewed eight studies (published 2008 to 2019) that measured the effects of PDE on WM among children ages 5 to 12. Results: Studies measuring prenatal exposure to methamphetamine, tobacco, or cocaine did not find differences in WM between PDE groups and controls. Nonetheless, three of the studies found that alcohol had negative effects on children’s WM, pinpointing the potential of alcohol to disrupt neurocognitive development. Conclusion: We were not able to generate conclusions regarding the consequences of PDE on children’s WM, but we discuss methodological issues and implications for future research on this phenomenon.

        Perirenal fat thickness is associated with metabolic risk factors in patients with chronic kidney disease

        Background: Adipose tissue accumulation in specific body compartments has been associated with diabetes, hypertension and dyslipidemia. Perirenal fat (PRF) may lead to have direct lipotoxic effects on renal function and intrarenal hydrostatic pressure. This study was undertaken to explore the association of PRF with cardiovascular risk factors and different stages of chronic kidney disease (CKD). Methods: We studied 103 patients with CKD of different stages (1 to 5). PRF was measured by B-mode renal ultrasonography in the distal third between the cortex and the hepatic border and/or spleen. Results: The PRF thickness was greater in CKD patients with impaired fasting glucose than in those with normal glucose levels (1.10 ± 0.40 cm vs. 0.85 ± 0.39 cm, P < 0.01). Patients in CKD stages 4 and 5 (glomerular filtration rate [GFR] < 30 mL/min/1.73 m2) had the highest PRF thickness. Serum triglyceride levels correlated positively with the PRF thickness; the PRF thickness was greater in patients with triglyceride levels ≥ 150 mg/dL (1.09 ± 0.40 cm vs. 0.86 ± 0.36 cm, P < 0.01). In patients with a GFR < 60 mL/min/1.73 m2, uric acid levels correlated positively with the PRF thickness (P < 0.05). Conclusion: In CKD patients, the PRF thickness correlated significantly with metabolic risk factors that could affect kidney function.

        Genome and chromosome wide association studies for growth traits in Simmental and Simbrah cattle

        Objective: The objective of this study was to perform genome (genome wide association studies [GWAS]) and chromosome (CWAS) wide association analyses to identify single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) associated with growth traits in registered Simmental and Simbrah cattle. Methods: The phenotypes were deregressed BLUP EBVs for birth weight, weaning weight direct, weaning weight maternal, and yearling weight. The genotyping was performed with the GGP Bovine 150k chip. After the quality control analysis, 105,129 autosomal SNP from 967 animals (473 Simmental and 494 Simbrah) were used to carry out genotype association tests. The two association analyses were performed per breed and using combined information of the two breeds. The SNP associated with growth traits were mapped to their corresponding genes at 100 kb on either side. Results: A difference in magnitude of posterior probabilities was found across breeds between genome and chromosome wide association analyses. A total of 110, 143, and 302 SNP were associated with GWAS and CWAS for growth traits in the Simmental-, Simbrahand joint -data analyses, respectively. It stands out from the enrichment analysis of the pathways for RNA polymerase (POLR2G, POLR3E) and GABAergic synapse (GABRR1, GABRR3) for Simmental cattle and p53 signaling pathway (BID, SERPINB5) for Simbrah cattle. Conclusion: Only 6,265% of the markers associated with growth traits were found using CWAS and GWAS. The associated markers using the CWAS analysis, which were not associated using the GWAS, represents information that due to the model and priors was not associated with the traits.

        Expression of heat shock protein genes in Simmental cattle exposed to heat stress

        Objective: In tropical, subtropical and arid zones, heat stress is the main cause of productivity reduction in cattle. When climate stressors occur, animals become thermal adapted through differential expression of some genes, including heat shock proteins (HSP) family. The aim of this study was to determine levels of expression of HSP60, HSP70, and HSP90 genes in Simmental cattle raised in tropical environments of Mexico. Methods: In this study, expression of HSP60, HSP70, and HSP90 genes was analyzed in 116 Simmental cattle from three farms with tropical climate located in western Mexico. Animals were sampled twice a day, in the morning and noon. Gene expression was evaluated by quantitative polymerase chain reaction using probes marked with fluorescence. The MIXED procedure of SAS with repeated measures was used for all statistical analysis. Results: HSP60 gene expression differences were found for sex (p = 0.0349). HSP70 gene differences were detected for sampling hour (p = 0.0042), farm (p<0.0001), sex (p = 0.0476), and the interaction sampling hour×farm (p = 0.0002). Gene expression differences for HSP90 were observed for farm (p<0.0001) and year (p = 0.0521). HSP70 gene showed to be a better marker of heat stress than HSP60 and HSP90 genes. Conclusion: Expression of HSP70 gene in Simmental herds of the tropical region of western México was different during early morning and noon, but the expression of the HSP60 and HSP90 genes was similar. Identification of resilient animals to heat stress will be useful in the genetic improvement of the Simmental breed.
