Maintaining the Late Merger Approach to Transparent Free Relatives: Reply to Lee (2015)
Beo Deul Song,Jeong Seok Kim 한국영어학학회 2016 영어학연구 Vol.22 No.2
This paper explores the derivation of the so-called Transparent Free Relatives (TFRs). Its bewildering characteristics have been investigated in a number of works, but the issues of the analysis are always boiled down to whether the content kernel resides in the matrix clause and how the TFR is connected to the matrix clause. In regard to two issues, a recent analysis, the so-called Doublet Analysis, is proposed by Lee (2015) particularly in order to account for the direct interaction between the content kernel and the matrix clause. This paper aims to examine the doublet analysis with potential theoretical and empirical problems. Also, this paper attempts to defend Song and Kim’s (2015) Late Merger Approach, according to which the TFR without the content kernel is introduced into the matrix clause via late merger. Some of the problems raised by Lee (2015) against the late merger approach will be revisited and discussed with alternative options to unravel the posed problems.

Fisheries are subject to unexpected weather condition. While some change of it may be positive for some fisheries, the current state suggests that the effects will be undesirable for many fisheries. The aim of this study is to assess the vulnerability to climate change in 11 regional fisheries of Korea using the framework of IPCC. The vulnerability assessment depends upon the interrelation of three key elements; exposure, sensitivity and adaptive capacity, which were derived from Analytical Hierarchy Process method in this study. These elements would contribute to comprehend relative importance at the regional characteristics of fisheries. We compared the vulnerability index of 11 regional fisheries so as to look for strategies and adaptation methods to the impacts of potential climate change. Jeoun-Nam, Kyeong-Nam, and Jeju are identified as the most vulnerable provinces to climate change on their fisheries because they have high level of sensitivity to predicted climate change and relatively low adaptive capacity. The relatively low vulnerability of Ulsan, Gyeonggi reflects high financial independence, well-equipped infrastructure, social capital in these regions. Understanding of vulnerability to climate change suggests future research directions. This paper will provide a guide to local policy makers and fisheries managers about vulnerability and adaptation planning to climate change.

A reduced graphene oxide (GO) layer was produced on undoped and n-type GaN, and its effect on the current- and heat-spreading properties of GaN-based light-emitting diodes (LEDs) was studied. The reduced GO inserted between metal electrode and GaN semiconductor acted as a conducting layer and enhanced lateral current flow in the device. Especially, introduction of the reduced GO layer on the n-type GaN improved the electrical performance of the device, relative to that of conventional LEDs, due to a decrease in the series resistance of the device. The enhanced current-spreading was further of benefit, giving the device a higher light output power and a lower junction temperature at high injection currents. These results therefore indicate that reduced GO can be a suitable current and heat-spreading layer for GaN-based LEDs.

Graphic Abstract

ACS Electronic Supporting Info

Transshipment cargo volume in 2010 compared to 1st quarter 2011 increased 8.43 percent of busan port for transshipment of cargo. thus transshipment of cargo is growing among, south east container terminals and Horando area of new port is planing to develop using small dock for the operations in order to enable . therefore, this study is to deduce implications for operating activation about 6 berths of feeder port in pusan new port that is planing to develop with dock that could be docked very large container ships and feeder dock that could be handled transshipment of cargo.

Abstract

Three–dimensional thermal interface materials made of graphene oxide (GO) and copper nanoparticles (Cu NPs) were applied for enhancing light–emitting diode heat dissipation. The effect of the stacking order of GO and Cu NPs on thermal resistance was explored by creating two types of samples: spray–coated with a mixed GO–Cu NPs and layer–by–layer stacked with GO/Cu NPs/GO. A reduction of thermal resistance for mixed GO–Cu NPs and layer–by–layer stacked structure by 37% and 33%, respectively, compared to that of Al heat sink. The lower thermal resistance of the mixed GO–Cu NPs sample is attributed to the fact that distributed Cu NPs at the step edge of GO sheets enhances the out–of–plane heat transfer at wrinkles/folds of GO interlayers. Therefore, a mixed GO–Cu NPs is considered as a promising composite for effective thermal management of high–performance optoelectronic devices.

Highlights

Three–dimensional thermal interface materials made of graphene oxide and copper nanoparticles (GO–Cu NPs) have synthesized.

The effect of the stacking order of GO–Cu NPs on thermal resistance has explored for enhancing LED heat dissipation.

Analysis by a FLIR camera has showed that the combination of GO and Cu NPs enabled heat dissipation properties.

The thermal resistance of the mixed GO–Cu NPs structure is less 37 % than that of the Al heat sink.

Graphical abstract

[DISPLAY OMISSION]
