An Ontology Based Approach on Secure-Tolerant SOAP Messages

The WS-Security family of security standards are widely utilized aiming at securing exchanges of SOAP messages among partners in a collaborative environment. Although such standards are suitable for ensuring end-to-end message level security, certain attacks such as XML Rewriting Attack may still occur and lead to significant security vulnerabilities. In this paper we propose ontology based approach on secure-tolerant SOAP message that can successfully combat with the security threats. We develop ontology-based schema to include a structure information of outgoing SOAP message and validate this information in the receiving end. Thus, allow to detect XML rewriting attacks early in the validating process. Also in this paper we propose a recover mechanism in which all modifications on SOAP message are written to a log before they are applied. If some security failure on SOAP message occurs, program could check this log and recover from effects of a successful execution.
Securing Web Services: Existing Solutions and Their Limitations

Web Services have been used in a variety of applications and have become a key technology in developing business operations on the Web. However, despite the growing use of Web Services by large corporations, security is still a major concern that is slowing their deployment. In this paper, we give an overview of security vulnerabilities, review the existing solutions, and show their limitations.

여러 웹서비스 보안 기술들은 협력 환경에서 협력자 간에 SOAP 메시지의 안전한 교환을 목적으로 이용된다. 하지만 이러한 보안기술들을 이용할지라도 SOAP 메시지는 아직도 XML기반 공격에 취약할 수 있다. 위와 같은 공격유형을 다루기 위하여 본 논문에서 SOAP메시지의 무결성을 보장하기 위한 자체 적응 접근법을 제안한다. 이 접근법에서 우리는 먼저 SOAP 메시지의 원소 구조를 온톨로지를 사용해서 만들고 SOAP 메시지 헤더부에 부착한다. 만약 공격 유형에서 어떤 변화가 일어난다면 그들을 학습하고 안전한 저장장치에 저장한다. 또한 본 연구에서 SOAP 메시지에 관한 모든 변경 사항은 로그에 쓰여 진다. Several Web Service Security (WS-Security)technologies are used to secure exchanges of SOAP messages in Web Service environment. However, although all of these security standards, SOAP message can still be vulnerable XML-based attacks. In order to deal with these types of attacks, in this paper, we propose a self-adaptive approach to ensure integrity of SOAP messages. In this approach, we first build SOAP message elements structure using ontology and then attach it in SOAP message header. If any changes in the pattern of attack are occurred, we learn them and save in a reliable storage. Also, in our approach, all modifications on SOAP messages are written to a log. Experiments show that the proposed solution has better performance in ensuring integrity of SOAP messages.
A Study on Database Indexing Techniques and Their Limitations

There are numerous approaches to improve the performances of database systems. The most efficient ones are considered to be implementing an effective database indexing technique. This must guarantee the balance between the memory, storage resources and processor of the database server according to the type, structure, the physical organization and the cardinality of data, the type of queries and the number of competing transactions. The challenge is to find an appropriate index type that would suite these requirements. In this paper, we provide an overview of the most used database indexing techniques such as B-tree index and Bitmap index, present an analysis of these techniques and discuss their limitations.
A Study on Comparison Analysis of Collaborative Filtering in Java and R

The mobile application market has been growing extensively in recent years. Currently, Apple's App Store has more than 400,000 applications and Google's Android Market has above 150,000 applications. Such growth in volumes of mobile applications has created a need to develop a recommender system that assists the users to take the right choice, when searching for a mobile application. In this paper, we study the recommendation system building tools based on collaborative filtering. Specifically, we present a study on comparison analysis of collaborative filtering in Java and R statistical software. We implement the collaborative filtering using Java’s Apache Mahout and R’s recommenderlab package. We evaluate both methods and describe the advantages and disadvantages of using them in order to implement collaborative filtering.

However, the growing amount of available Web Services on Web forms a new problem - how to select and recommend an appropriate Web Service that matches the user requirements. In this paper, we investigate recommendation methods in Web Services, and discuss their strength and limitations.
