        THE EFFECT OF INQUIRY BASED SCIENCE TO SCIENCE SKILL PROCESS AND DEVIANT BEHAVIOR OF THE COGNITIVE DISABILITY STUDENTS

        The purpose of this study is to analysis the inquiry strategies through hands on activities teaching to increase the science skill process and decrease deviant behavior of the cognitive disabilities students in an special school science classroom. Using experiment, observations, test, it is revealed that this teacher’s approach focuses on two major ideas: (a) Combining activity-oriented science curriculum of scale unit with the building of comprehension relationships in her classroom; and (b) Developing comprehension for science skill process and fulfilling students’ personal purposes. Research design was Single Subject Research Design. AB Design through 1 base line and 1 intervention phase. Participant from special need schools about 3 participant (ANS, ABD, ADL). The data analysis uses assess trends and levels between adjacent phases. Level refers to change in value or magnitude of science skill process and tantrum and parrot talk behavior after intervention. Trend refers to change in direction: described as accelerating science skill process, decelerating tantrum and parrot talk behavior. The result of this study shown base line of ANS was every 3 minutes get tantrum and aggressive (ripped of paper and hit a friends), ABD was every 3 minutes slamming stuff, ADL every 5 minutes blank and daydream. They don’t know color and can not difference of little and big, short and long. After intervention 5 times through inquiry strategies through grouping color of shirt button into red, blue, yellow, green, white, and black; grouping into little size and big size of shirt button. The trend show (1) ANS tantrum behavior decrease was 5 minutes can focus and concentrated to learning; she want to write too; (2) ABD parrot talk behavior decrease was 7 minutes he can focus and concentrated to learning; he can sit down and stop ramp too; (3) ADL blank and daydream decrease was 10 minutes can focus and concentrated; she want to write and counting too. The conclusion of the study was the inquiry strategies trough grouping shirt button trend to increase classification and comparing science skill process and to decrease deviant behavior (tantrum, parrot talk, aggressive) student with cognitive disability.

      • Poster Session : PS 0613 ; Others ; Effects of Isokinetic Resistance Training and Aerobic Walking on the Rehabilitation of Knee Osteoarthritis: A Comparison Study

        Background: To evaluate the effectiveness of isokinetic resistance training and aerobic walking in the patients with knee osteoarthritis on the basis of isokinetic strength (peak torque), pain and functional abilities. Methods: Thirty volunteers (N= 30), ages 40 to 65 years. Patients were randomly assigned to 3 groups: control (n= 10), isokinetic training group (n= 10) and aerobic walking group (n= 10). Subjects in the intervention groups underwent Isokinetic resistance training and aerobic walking for 12 weeks, 2 times per week, whereas subjects in control group underwent isokinetic testing at pre, mid and post test together with the intervention groups. Randomized Control Trial with repeated measure ANOVA was used. Results: There was signifi cant improvement (p<0.05) of peak torque in both intervention groups compared to control group. There was no signifi cant different (p>0.05) between the control and intervention groups in terms of pain score. In terms of physical function on the basis of WOMAC osteoarthritis index subscale, there was a signifi cant improvement (p<0.05) in both the intervention groups at mid and post test compared to the control group. Conclusions: The results suggest that with the isokinetic resistance training and aerobic walking used in this study, it is possible to improve muscle strength and physical function in patients with OA of the knee. The results also showed that extensive training involving a high number of repetitions and concentric contractions was safe, effective, and well tolerated for the patients with knee osteoarthritis.

        Tissue culture of gerunggang (Cratoxylum arborescens (Vahl) Blume): multipurpose native species of Indonesian peatland

        Gerunggang (Cratoxylum arborescens (Vahl) Blume) is a tree native to Indonesian peatlands that has great potential as an alternative fiber-producing species for the pulp and paper industry because it is adaptable and does not have the potential to disrupt local ecosystems. The species also contains important anti-cancer compounds for the pharmaceutical industry. These industries require large quantities of raw materials to meet their needs, which cannot be met by the supply of conventional plant seedlings. Tissue culture is one of the propaga- tion biotechnologies that can be used as an alternative to provide more efficient germplasm. In this study, we developed a protocol for gerunggang propagation using tissue culture technique. The results showed that the combination of 1 mg/l 6-benzylamino purine (BAP) and 0.5 mg/l naphthalene acetic acid (NAA) in Murashige & Skoog media provided the fast- est bud break time (2 weeks before the first subculture), with the highest shoot initiation (3.0 ± 0.2 cm), and after 4 weeks of incubation, the highest auxiliary shoot elongation (7.4 ± 0.1 cm). The significant effect of this hormone concentration also increases the nodule multiplication coefficient (NMC), which is 7.5. In vitro root response on the same propagation medium showed good growth with an average root length of 4.8 ± 0.2 cm. Acclimatization of plantlets was successful under ex vitro conditions and resulted in good growth after 2 and 3 months in the greenhouse. The advantage of applying the tissue culture method to gerunggang is that it can produce about seven times more seedlings from one explant in about 4 weeks. These results will be very useful for further research in the field and require a more intensive and comprehensive study.

        Image Based-Phenotyping and Selection Index Based on Multivariate Analysis for Rice Hydroponic Screening under Drought Stress

        The development of rice varieties that are tolerant of drought stress needs to be detected with Image-based phenotyping. This Image-based phenotyping method in combination with selection index and multivariate analysis can characterize the morphological response easily within a short time, which makes it is suitable for rice screening under drought stress. Therefore, this study aims to determine the selection index based on multivariate analysis and assess the effectiveness of using image-based phenotyping in drought rice screening. This study was conducted in two stages, the first was in static hydroponic and the second was in dynamic hydroponic. In static hydroponic, a split-plot design was used, where the levels of drought were the main plots and varieties were the subplots. However, in dynamic hydroponic, a nested design was used, where the replicates were nested in the drought level treatments. Also, The drought level factors used were PEG 0%, PEG 10%, and PEG 20%, and the variety factor consisted of 5 varieties which were repeated three times. The results showed that the selection index for static hydroponic consisted of shoot area (0.421), green shoot area (0.4177), and the area growth rate (0.4192). Meanwhile, the selection index in dynamic hydroponics consisted of object extent Y from the side (0.4516) and convex hull from the side (0.4177). The regression of the two-selection index has a good determination of 0.84. Hence, these results showed that rice screening based on image-based phenotyping can be recommended for rapid screening under drought stress.

        FATIGUE LIFE RELIABILITY PREDICTION OF A STUB AXLE USING MONTE CARLO SIMULATION

        A stub axle is a part of a vehicle constant-velocity system that transfers engine power from the transaxle to the wheels. The stub axle is subjected to fatigue failures due to cyclic loads arising from various driving conditions. The aim of this paper was to introduce a probabilistic framework for fatigue life reliability analysis that addresses uncertainties that appear in the mechanical properties. Service loads in terms of response-time history signal of a Belgian pave were replicated on a multi-axial spindle-coupled road simulator. The stress-life method was used to estimate the fatigue life of the component. A fatigue life probabilistic model of a stub axle was developed using Monte Carlo simulation where the stress range intercept and slope of the fatigue life curve were selected as random variables. Applying the goodness-of-fit analysis, lognormal was found to be the most suitable distribution for the fatigue life estimates. The fatigue life of the stub axle was found to have the highest reliability between 8000 – 9000 cycles. Because of uncertainties associated with the size effect and machining and manufacturing conditions, the method described in this paper can be effectively applied to determine the probability of failure for mass-produced parts.

        A Review of Cross-Cultural Design to Improve User Engagement for Learning Management System

        Online learning has become a widespread practice for students and teachers in acquiring and delivering knowledge. Education platforms have become prominent in the 21st century with the evolution of technology and the accessibility to online learning. As a result, various learning management systems (LMSs) have been introduced to facilitate online interaction between users. For instance, communication between students and teachers at school. However, there is a need to emphasise user engagement in LMS to enhance the online learning experience amongst students since the design of LMS affects user engagement. This study utilised a systematic literature review (SLR) that examined 74 articles published between 2014 and 2023, focusing on cross-cultural design (CCD), user-centred design (UCD), and usability in LMS design. This study aimed to review CCD and its association with UCD, user interfaces (UI), and user experience (UX) in the context of LMS. CCD has been introduced as an approach to design that embraces different cultures, languages, and social contexts, while UCD plays a significant role in defining user engagement for LMS. All elements in CCD and UCD help create a better user experience for LMS. Besides, this study reviewed the usability of selected LMS to give insights to developers in creating a positive user engagement. An insight into cultural factors that influence the usability of LMS has revealed their value for LMS design, such as the UI/UX elements. Initially, this study may guide future researchers in improving education quality by emphasising CCD and LMS usability, which can enhance user engagement.

        <▼1><▼1><P>High performance organic devices were successfully demonstrated with the presence of highly ordered nanoimprinted Au nanodisks.</P></▼1><▼2><P>High performance organic devices including polymer solar cells (PSCs) and light emitting diodes (PLEDs) were successfully demonstrated with the presence of highly ordered nanoimprinted Au nanodisks (Au NDs) in their solution-processed active/emissive layers, respectively. PSCs and PLEDs were fabricated using a low bandgap polymer and acceptor, nitrogen doped multiwalled carbon nanotubes poly[4,8-bis[(2-ethylhexyl)oxy]benzo[1,2-<I>b</I>:4,5-<I>b</I>′]dithiophene-2,6-diyl][3-fluoro-2-[(2-ethylhexyl)carbonyl] thieno[3,4-<I>b</I>]-thiophenediyl] (n-MWCNTs:PTB7), and [6,6]-phenyl C71 butyric acid methyl ester (PC71BM) and (4,4-<I>N</I>,<I>N</I>-dicarbazole) biphenyl (CBP) doped with tris(2-phenylpyridine) iridium(iii) (Ir(ppy)3) as active/emissive layers, respectively. We synthesized nitrogen doped graphene and used it as anodic buffer layer in both devices. The localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) effect from Au NDs clearly contributed to the increase in light absorption/emission in the active layers from electromagnetic field enhancement, which originated from the excited LSPR in PSCs and PLEDs. In addition to the high density of LSPR and strong exciton-SP coupling, the electroluminescent (EL) enhancement is ascribed to enhanced spontaneous emission rates. This is due to the plasmonic near-field effect induced by Au NDs. The PSCs and PLEDs exhibited 14.98% (8.08% to 9.29%) under one sun of simulated air mass 1.5 global (AM1.5G) illumination (100 mW cm<SUP>−2</SUP>) and 19.18% (8.24 to 9.82 lm W<SUP>−1</SUP>) enhancement in the power conversion efficiencies (PCEs) compared to the control devices without Au NDs.</P></▼2></▼1>

        WEAK POTENCY AND CYCLIC SUBGROUP SEPARABILITY OF CERTAIN FREE PRODUCTS AND TREE PRODUCTS

        In this note, we shall show that the generalized free products of subgroup separable groups amalgamating a subgroup which itself is a finite extension of a finitely generated normal subgroup of both the factor groups are weakly potent and cyclic subgroup separable. Then we apply our result to generalized free products of finite extensions of finitely generated torsion-free nilpotent groups. Finally, we shall show that their tree products are cyclic subgroup separable.
