        Hubbard Physics in the Symmetric Half-filled Periodic Anderson-Hubbard Model

        Two very different methods – exact diagonalization on finite chains and a variational method –are used to study the possibility of a metal-insulator transition in the symmetric half-filled periodic Anderson-Hubbard model. With this aim we calculate the density of doubly occupied d sites (νd)as a function of various parameters. In the absence of on-site Coulomb interaction (Uf ) between f electrons, the two methods yield similar results. The double occupancy of d levels remains always finite just as in the one-dimensional Hubbard model. Exact diagonalization on finite chains gives the same result for finite Uf , while the Gutzwiller method leads to a Brinkman-Rice transition at a critical value (Uc d ), which depends on Uf and V .

        An indicator-based approach to assess farm households’ vulnerability to climate change: evidence from Odisha, India

        The study aims to assess farmers’ vulnerability to climate change using indicator based approach in order to highlight important factors such as demographic, social and health factors contributing to vulnerability of agriculture to climatic variability and climate change in both irrigated and rain-fed regions of the state. Vulnerability analysis was done using three different composite indices such as: Livelihood Vulnerability Index, Livelihood Vulnerability Index of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, and Livelihood Effect Index. Based on results, the study found that water component has the largest contribution to the vulnerability of the farmers’ community in Bolangir district where as the Natural disaster and climate vulnerability has the largest contribution to the vulnerability of the farmers’ community in Cuttack district. High exposure and a relatively low adaptive capacity are significant factors that cause the farm household to be more sensitive to climate variability and climate change.

        Efficient Performance of a Robust Filter-based Approach for Contour Detection in Wireless Sensor Networks

        A robust filter-based approach is proposed for wireless sensor networks for detecting contours of a signal distribution over a 2-dimensional region. The motivation for contour detection is derived from applications where the spatial distribution of a signal (such as temperature, soil moisture level, etc.) is to be determined over a large region with minimum communication cost. The proposed scheme applies multi-level quantization to the sensor signal values to artificially create an edge and then applies spatial filtering for edge detection. The spatial filter is localized and is based on an adaptation of the Prewitt filter used in image processing. Appropriate mechanisms are introduced that minimizes the cost for communication required for collaboration. Simulation results are presented to show the error performance of the proposed contour detection scheme and the associated communication cost (single-hop communications with immediate neighborhood in average) in the network. The proposed scheme has sufficient robustness to noise in signal observations and incurs a low cost of communication.

        Distribution of Public Service and Individual Job Performance in Peruvian Municipality

        Purpose: This research aims to find the link between public service Distribution and individual job performance in the provincial municipality. Research design, data, and methodology: This is a quantitative approach study with a non-experimental and correlational design. The sample consisted of 140 employees appointed and hired by the provincial municipality of Huaraz. For data collection, Two questionnaires with an ordinal Likert-type scale and the Rho Spearman correlation coefficient were used to assess the link between the research variables., For Analysis: two questionnaires with an ordinal Likert-type scale and the Rho Spearman correlation coefficient were used to determine the connection between the research variables. Results: It was determined that both variables have a high degree of correlation (0.725), indicating a direct and significant relationship between the Distribution of public service and skill performance in the provincial municipality (0.614). Conclusion: Finally, this allows us to conclude that the institutional context is essential; that is, there is a significant correlation between the PSM and contextual performance in the provincial municipality of Huaraz, which has a Rho Spearman value of 0.723.

      • The Corruption Trap in Africa: Causes and Consequences

        The relationship between corruption and economic development remains controversial, with one strand of literature arguing that corruption sands the wheels of economic development and another that corruption greases the wheels of development.” This paper contributes to the literature on the corruption trap by assessing its causes and consequences using unbalanced panel data for 40 African countries during the 1995-2019 period. The empirical findings reveal evidence of the persistence of corruption in Africa. Granger Panel Causality tests highlight that development levels and economic freedom have bi-directional causality with corruption, while there is a unidirectional causality going from corruption to development assistance level, globalization, inequality levels, CO2 emissions, and the natural resources rents. Hence, the difficulty of changing the high corruption equilibrium in Africa and other developing regions is associated with its persistence on the one hand and its causes and consequences on the other, which must be incorporated to create effective anticorruption policies.

        Current status, challenges and the way forward for dairy goat production in Europe

        The aim of this review is to show the evolution of the dairy goat sector in Europe from all perspectives. Starting from the current situation, the challenges and future potential of this livestock system are presented, as well as strategies to overcome the difficulties faced. Europe holds 1.9% of the world goat population and produces 15.1% of goat milk recorded worldwide. The goat species plays a fundamental economic, social and environmental role in many regions of Europe. The wide diversity of production systems and autochthonous breeds makes the sector very heterogeneous. In order to improve viability, a number of strategies need to be adopted to solve the current problems such as a low profitability, absence of generational change and a little or no recognition of the social and environmental role of the sector. Some strategies to improve the situation of the European goat sector include: i) generating market value that will recognise the diversity of the dairy goat sector (breeds, feeding models, derived products…); ii) promoting and raising awareness of the functional attributes of goat milk and derived products so as to increase consumption; iii) assigning an economic value to environmental and social functions; iv) improving working conditions through technological innovation to make goat farming more attractive to young people; and v) processing more milk into cheese or other dairy products in production areas.

        Personality Traits, Positive Emotions and Psychological Well-Being of Telecommunications Distribution Employees

        Purpose: Personality qualities are essential to the prosperity of any contemporary company because they foster the growth of pleasant emotions in telecommunications distribution employees. Research design, data and methodology: Thus improving their overall psychological well-being and productivity. Talent retention is facilitated by mutual respect between management and staff. The success of the company as a whole, including the development and maintenance of emotions with customers, also depends on the psychological wellbeing of employees. The aim is to demonstrate how a positive and satisfied emotional workforce contributes to psychological well-being in the 21st century. Result: The research aims to better understand the personality traits that influence the psychological well-being of employees. In addition, between January and March 2023, a total of 179 employees in the telecommunications distribution industry in the Peruvian city of Chiclayo were surveyed using structural modelling methods to measure employee satisfaction. It also shows how various ideas, approaches and models can be used in the real world. Conclusion: The significance of the model on the perception of telecommunications workers in Peru is demonstrated by the results, which indicate an R2 value of 0.681 for positive emotions and an R2 value of 0.792 for employees' psychological well-being.

        Preoperative administration effect of metronidazole, ceftriaxone sodium and their combination on stenotic index of jejunal anastomotic segment of dogs

        The jejunum is the longest part of the small intestine and its lumen is mainly involved in the absorption of the nutrients. The present study was conducted to evaluate the effects of metronidazole, ceftriaxoine sodium and their combination on the stenotic index of the end to end jujunal anastomotic site. To accomplish this, 20 healthy stray dogs were subjected to end to end jejunal ansastmosis. Dogs in Group A (control) underwent jejunal anstomosis with no antibiotic prophylaxis, while those in Group B received surgery and metronidazole alone at 50 mg/kg, those in Group C received ceftriaxone sodium intravenously at 30 mg/kg body weight prior to surgery and dogs in Group D were given metronidazole in combination with ceftriaxone sodium at 50 mg/kg and 30 mg/kg, respectively, 2 h before surgical intervention. No significant difference (p > 0.05) in the stenotic index was observed at 14 days after jejunal anastomosis. These findings indicate that prophylactic administration of metronidazole and ceftriaxone sodium alone or in combination had no significant effect on the stenotic index of the jejunum.

        Evaluation of Hydrodynamic Consequences for Horseshoe Vortex System developing around two eccentrically arranged Identical Piers of Diverse Shapes

        This research provides experimental outcomes of hydrodynamic flow formations around two square piers of same widthpositioned in inline front and eccentric rear arrangement with a constant longitudinal spacing and eccentricity. Measurements ofinstantaneous velocities in polar coordinate system were taken by a Doppler type acoustic velocimeter. The distributions and contourprofiles of time mean tangential, radial and vertical velocities, kinetic energy and intensities due to turbulence are presented at fiveazimuth angles 0°, -45°, 45°, -90° and 90° in vertical planes. From time mean velocity fields, velocity vectors were determined andutilised to explain added flow features. Horseshoe vortices vorticity and the strength (circulation) are resolved by usingcomputational hydrodynamics method. The preset outcomes are compared with previous researches where cylindrical and triangularshaped piers were used at same experimental conditions. The arrangement of square piers and the interfering among wake andhorseshoe vortices for inline-front and eccentric-rear piers, respectively - take part in a major role for making and forming biggerdepth of scour near eccentrically positioned rear pier. Due to bluff body existence, friction drag becomes less effective than thepressure drag. Horseshoe vortex strength for eccentric-rear pier is observed greater than strength for inline-front pier.
