HybridBaro: Mining Driving Routes Using Barometer Sensor of Smartphone
Won, Myounggyu,Mishra, Ashutosh,Son, Sang H. IEEE 2017 IEEE SENSORS JOURNAL Vol.17 No.19
<P>Recent research showed that human mobility is characterized by reproducible patterns, i.e., humans tend to travel a few known places. Timely identification of these significant journeys has prospects for emerging intelligent applications like real-time traffic route recommendation and automated HVAC systems. Existing mobile systems, however, utilize energy-hungry sensors like GPS and gyroscope to detect significant journeys, which make it hard to keep such systems running to continuously monitor driving routes. To address this issue of energy efficiency without compromising the performance, in this paper, a hybrid mobile system based on the barometer sensor of a smartphone is developed. Distinctive elevation signatures of driving routes are captured using the smartphone barometer sensor that is exceptionally energy-efficient and position/orientation-independent. Degraded accuracy due to flat areas with minimal elevation changes is offset by developing an adaptive algorithm that opportunistically obtains GPS locations for a very short period of time when such flat areas are detected in real time. Using over 150 miles of field data, it is demonstrated that the proposed mobile system achieves the mean detection accuracy of 97% with the mean false positive rates of 1.5%.</P>
A NEUMANN TYPE PROBLEM ON AN UNBOUNDED DOMAIN IN THE HEISENBERG GROUP
Dubey, Shivani,Mishra, Mukund Madhav,Pandey, Ashutosh Korean Mathematical Society 2022 대한수학회지 Vol.59 No.3
We discuss the wellposedness of the Neumann problem on a half-space for the Kohn-Laplacian in the Heisenberg group. We then construct the Neumann function and explicitly represent the solution of the associated inhomogeneous problem.

Backgrounds/Aims: Morbidity following Whipple’s surgery largely depends upon the pancreatic stump anastomosis leak. Pancreaticogastrostomy is one of the techniques of pancreatic stump reconstruction and is described variously in the literature. Duct to mucosa pancreaticogastrostomy is described either by a large 3-4 cm posterior gastrotomy or by small gastrotomy of 2-3 mm with the use of internal stents along with. We describe clinical outcomes and technique of 2 layer end to side pancreatico-gastrostomy by a small posterior gastrotomy without the use of internal stents. Methods: Hospital records of 35 patients where the technique of, small posterior gastrotomy end to side duct to mucosa pancreatico-gastrostomy without internal stents, was used for pancreatic stump reconstruction were studied retrospectively. The data were analyzed for demographic details, stage of the disease, and short term outcomes related to surgical procedure. Results: The mean duration of surgery was 7.4 hours. Grade A, B, and C POPF were observed in 10 (28.5%), 3 (8.5%), and 1 (2.8%) of patients respectively. The mean time to remove pancreatic drain was 9 days, and the mean time to start oral feeds was 8.9 days. The mean hospital stay was 12.9 days (07-26). Thirty days mortality was 2.8%. Conclusions: Unstented duct to mucosa end to side pancreatico-gastrostomy technique is comparable with other pancreatico-gastrostomy techniques in outcomes in terms of POPF, morbidity, mortality, and hospital stay. However, to establish the superiority or inferiority of this technique, a larger study is recommended.

Subtilisin-like serine proteases (SBT), a serine proteolytic enzymes play an important role in plant growth function and during different stresses responses. The systematic analysis of the SBT gene family in Musa acuminate (MaSBT) has been done and their responses to abiotic stresses in banana variety cv. G-9 were also analyzed. Total of 67 MaSBT genes were identified and based on phylogeny these were grouped into five districted subgroups. Cis-acting element analysis indicated that almost all MaSBT promoters contain regulatory elementary related to growth and development, hormonal regulation, and stress responses. The gene structure and domain analysis showed a maximum of seventeen exons and four functional domains in MaSBT. The 42 orthologous genes, 07 MaSBT paralogous genes were also identified through synteny analysis. The Ka /Ks study indicated that four MaSBT paralogous gene pairs were tandemly duplicated, while the other three were segmental duplications. Further, the expression pattern via RNA-seq data revealed that MaSBTs exhibited differential expres- sion specifically in response to the abiotic stress of low nitrogen. and also during the flowering time. The MaSBT-1.7 gene was found involved in the response to salt stress and flowering. These findings establish a cornerstone for future research on banana's salt stress mechanism. The study offers valuable insights into SBT encoding genes, shedding light on their roles in growth, development, and abiotic stress responses
