A New Key Management Scheme for a User Hierarchy based on a Hybrid Cryptosystem
Vanga Odelu,Ashok Kumar Das,Adrijit Goswami 한국산학기술학회 2013 SmartCR Vol.3 No.1
In general applications’, changing a secret key of a user provides maximum security for the system. Thus, a user in an organization needs to change his/her secret key from time to time to achieve maximum security. Changing the secret key of a user in an organization is more frequent than a user simply joining or leaving the organization. Dynamic properties such as changing the key of a user in a hierarchy affects the performance of an access control scheme more than other dynamic properties such as adding or deleting a security class to the hierarchy. As a result, we need to design an effective access control scheme to change keys of users in the hierarchy. However, most schemes proposed in the literature do not provide an efficient solution. In this paper, we propose a new key management mechanism for hierarchical access control that provides an effective solution. Moreover, our scheme efficiently supports other dynamic properties, such as adding or deleting a security class. Further, we proposed an efficient procedure for key generation and key derivation for access control. Through formal and informal security analysis, we prove our scheme tolerates various known attacks in access control. We show that our scheme has better performance compared to other related schemes. As a result, higher security along with efficient access control properties makes our scheme more suitable for practical applications.

Background: Use of prebiotics in companion animal nutrition is often considered advantageous over probiotics because of the ease of handling, ability to withstand processing and storage etc. While most of the studies on prebiotic use in dogs have been done with processed food as basal diet, the response in relation to homemade diet feeding is not very well explored. Methods: The study was conducted to evaluate the effects of dietary mannanoligosaccharide (MOS) supplementation on nutrient digestibility, hindgut fermentation, immune response and antioxidant indices in dogs. Ten Spitz pups were divided into two groups: control (CON) with no supplementation, and experimental (MOS) wherein the basal diet was supplemented with MOS at 15 g/kg diet. All dogs were fed on a home-prepared diet for a period of 150 days. The study protocol included a digestion trial, periodic blood collection and analysis for lipid profile and erythrocytic antioxidants. Immune response of the animals was assessed towards the end of the feeding period. Results: Results revealed no significant (P > 0.05) variations in palatability score, intake and apparent digestibility of nutrients between the groups. Faecal score, faeces voided, faecal pH, concentrations of ammonia, lactate and short-chain fatty acids were comparable (P > 0.05) between the two groups. Cell-mediated immune response, assessed as delayed-type of hypersensitivity response, was significantly higher (P < 0.05) in the MOS group. The percent of lymphocyte sub-populations CD4+ and ratio of CD4+:CD8+ were also significantly (P < 0.05) higher in MOS group. The serum IgG levels were similar (P > 0.05) in both the groups. Supplementation of MOS lowered (P < 0.05) serum total- and LDL- cholesterol levels, when compared with the control group. The erythrocytic antioxidant indices were similar (P > 0.05) between the two groups. Conclusions: The results indicated that supplementation of MOS at the rate of 15 g/kg in the diet of dog augmented the cell-mediated immune response and serum lipid profile without any influences on digestibility of nutrients, hindgut fermentation and antioxidants indices.

Effects of varied dietary energy densities on immune response and performance of Muzzafarnagari lambs were ascertained in a 180-d study. Animals (n = 24), in three groups, were fed diets providing 100% (100E), 80% (80E) or 70% (70E) of their metabolizable energy requirement. Mean nutrient digestibilities varied significantly among treatments. Nitrogen intake was lower (p<0.01) in the 70E. Nitrogen retention, was reduced (p<0.001) in 80E and 70E vs 100E. The average daily gain (p<0.001) was $47.01{\pm}4.23$, $13.54{\pm}1.72$ and $-16.67{\pm}8.24$ g for 100E, 80E and 70E, respectively. Hemoglobin concentration, haematocrit, total and differential leukocyte counts were lower (p<0.001) for 80E and 70E than for 100E with a similar trend (p<0.05) for serum glucose and total protein. Serum cortisol was reduced (p<0.001) with decreased energy availability. Antibody titre to Brucella abortus S19 showed an initial reduction in 80E and 70E vs 100E. Delayed-type hypersensitivity response was lower (p<0.001) in 80E and 70E vs 100E, accompanying a lower (p<0.001) nitric oxide production by the peripheral lymphocytes. It is concluded that the reduced dietary energy density significantly affects the growth performance and immune response of lambs.

We determined the yields of fission products in the photon-induced fission for 232Th and 238U with an end-point energy of 10 MeV at the electron linac of the Electron Beam Center in Kharghar, Navi Mumbai, India, and those for natPb, 209Bi, and 232Th with 45-80 MeV and 2.5 GeV at the Pohang Accelerator Laboratory in Pohang, Korea. The peak-to-valley (P/V) ratio, average light mass (<AL >), and average heavy mass (<AH >) at different excitation energies were obtained from the mass yield data of this work and literature data. The values of P/V, <AL >, and <AH > for 232Th(γ, f) and 238U(γ, f) are compared with similar data for 232Th(n, f), and 238U(n, f) to examine the role of the excitation energy in nuclear structure effects. Similarly, the present data for natPb(n, f) and 209Bi(n, f) were compared with the literature data at other bremsstrahlung energies to examine the effect of the excitation energy on the average mass (<A>) and the P/V ratio.

The 115In(n, )116mIn reaction cross section at neutron energies of 1.12, 2.12, 3.12 and 4.12 MeV was determined by using an activation and off-line -ray spectrometric technique. The monoenergetic neutron energies of 1.12 − 4.12 MeV were generated from the 7Li(p,n) reaction by using proton beam with energies of 3 and 4 MeV from the folded tandem ion beam accelerator (FOTIA) at Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) and with energies of 5 and 6 MeV from the Pelletron facility at Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR), Mumbai. The 197Au(n, )198Au reaction cross-section was used as the neutron flux monitor. The 115In(n, )116mIn reaction cross-sections at neutron energies of 1.12 − 4.12 MeV were compared with the literature data and were found to be in good agreement with one set of data, but not with others. The 115In(n, )116mIn cross-section was also calculated theoretically by using the computer code TALYS 1.6 and was found to be slightly lower than the experimental data from the present work and the literature.

The yields of various fission products in the neutron-induced fission of 238U with the flux-weightedaveragedneutron energies of 9.35 MeV and 12.52 MeV were determined by using an off-line gammarayspectroscopic technique. The neutrons were generated using the 7Li(p, n) reaction at BhabhaAtomic Research Centre-Tata Institute of Fundamental Research Pelletron facility, Mumbai. Thegamma- ray activities of the fission products were counted in a highly-shielded HPGe detector overa period of several weeks to identify the decaying fission products. At both the neutron energies, thefission-yield values are reported for twelve fission product. The results obtained from the presentwork have been compared with the similar data for mono-energetic neutrons of comparable energyfrom the literature and are found to be in good agreement. The peak-to-valley (P/V) ratios werecalculated from the fission-yield data and were found to decreases for neutron energy from 9.35 to12.52 MeV, which indicates the role of excitation energy. The effect of the nuclear structure on thefission product-yield is discussed.
