The Sec61α subunit is the core subunit of the protein conducting channel which is required for protein translocation in eukaryotes and prokaryotes. In this study, we cloned a Sec61α subunit from Penicillium ochrochloron (PoSec61α). Sequence and 3D structural model analysis showed that PoSec61α conserved the typical characteristics of eukaryotic and prokaryotic Sec61α subunit homologues. The pore ring known as the constriction point of the channel is formed by seven hydrophobic amino acids. Two methionine residues from transmembrane α-helice 7 (TM7) contribute to the pore ring formation and projected notably to the pore area and narrowed the pore compared with the superposed residues at the corresponding positions in the crystal structures or the 3D models of the Sec61α subunit homologues in archaea or other eukaryotes, respectively. Results reported herein indicate that the pore ring residues differ among Sec61α subunit homologues and two hydrophobic residues in the TM7 contribute to the pore ring formation. <P>Paper-based electronics or energy storage devices are emerging as next-generation technology. However, conducting agents for paper electrodes are prohibitively expensive at present. In this work, we demonstrate a facile and cost-effective way of converting sheets of commercial papers into high-performance conductive electrodes for supercapacitors. Multi-walled carbon nanotubes (CNTs), carbon blacks (CBs), and polyvinyl alcohol were successfully employed to fabricate conductive, flexible, bendable, disposable and foldable paper electrodes. The CNTs showed higher mass-specific capacitance (219 Fg−1), area-specific capacitance (9.8 mFcm−2), and energy density (30 Wh kg−1). Carbon blacks also demonstrated significantly large mass-specific capacitance (92 Fg−1) and area-specific capacitance (4.4 mFcm−2). This work is the first report on carbon-blacks-based paper electrodes of supercapacitors. Our method could provide a scalable way to realize paper-based electrode materials, which could find applications in next generation wearable devices.</P>

The fruits of Phaleria macrocarpa (PM) have long been used as a traditional Malay medicinal herb for hundreds of years. To determine the toxicity of the mesocarp and pericarp of ethanol extract of PM (EEPM). In this study, 6–8 weeks of adult healthy male Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats between 180 and 220 g, were used. The Group I was received 10 % normal saline and Group II, III, IV and V were treated with EEPM orally to each rat (n = 6) on daily basis at 500, 1000, 2000 and 5000 mg/ kg 28 consecutive days. Animals body weight showed normal growth from 189.76 ± 2.33 and 189.86 ± 1.01 g to 227 ± 3.06 and 225 ± 2.07 g. Biochemical aspects of treated animals’ indicated serum values of (creatinine 0.46 ± 0.033, phosphorous 5 ± 0.46, HDL 31.31 ± 1.48, LDL 30.66 ± 0.37, Cholesterol 68.23 ± 1.28 and AST 63.08 ± 2.65, ALT 22.05 ± 0.68 and ALP 79.16 ± 0.82) which is similar with the control group. Histological observation showed no necrosis, abnormalities and inflammation in both control and EEPM treated groups. Findings suggests; the fruits are non-toxic when applied to SD rats. In this way, it may also serve as a good alternative in the present armamentarium of traditional medicine without showing its any side effects.

Purpose - This study examines the awareness regarding the symptoms of COVID-19 exposures and safety distances strategies whether they were useful to resile the businesses a mid of the pandemic. Besides exploring the awareness and safety distances, the effectiveness of offering free use of protective equipment (mask, hand sanitizer, frequent hand washing, etc.) to the customers for visiting the business centers was also examined. Design/methodology/approach - This study collected 264 survey data in Bangladesh which is one of the most densely populated country and very vulnerable for COVID-19 due to its socio-economic condition. The multiple regression analysis is used to analyze the data. Findings - The findings of the study indicate that the awareness about the symptoms of virus exposures (cough, fever, diarrhea, and weakness) has significant affirmative effects to enhance the public movement for business purposes with the lower possibility to be affected by the virus. The study also indicates that safety distances and protective equipment can mediate the significant positive relationship between the awareness of the disease and the businesses resilient capacity. Research implications or Originality - COVID-19, as an apprehensive health issue in the current world, has sharpened the uncertainty of the businesses. One essential technique as lockdown, has been followed by almost every country to protect the transmission of the virus even though the scholars criticized it due to the substantial adverse effects on the country s economy. Under this circumstances, this study provides implications to the relevant businesses by assessing the nexus between the safety distances and the proper uses of protective equipment with the business resilient.

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Water-dispersible and electrically conductive polyaniline-poly(2-acrylamido-2-methyl-1-propanesulfonic acid) (PANI-PAAMPSA) was employed for the first time to fabricate high-efficiency symmetrical supercapacitors. PANI-PAAMPSA was synthesized by the templating method, and subsequently directly processed from water to form flexible supercapacitors with 2 M H2SO4 electrolyte. The capacitive properties of PANI-PAAMPSA-based supercapacitors were further enhanced by incorporating ZnO nanowires into PANI-PAAMPSA electrodes. The all-solution-based supercapacitors with PANI-PAAMPSA/ZnO nanowires exhibited significant capacitance improvements of up to 3-fold increase compared to PANI-PAAMPSA electrodes. The enhanced capacitive characteristics of PANI-PAAMPSA/ZnO nanowires are attributed to the larger surface area and pseudo capacitance due to the nanowires. Our work thus could provide a simple and scalable route to fabricate solution-based and low-cost electrochemical energy storage devices such as supercapacitors or batteries.</P>

We demonstrate, for the first time, high-efficiency supercapacitors by utilizing chemical vapor deposition (CVD)-grown graphenes hybridized with multiwalled carbon nanotubes (CNTs). A single-layer graphene was grown by simple CVD growth method, and transferred to polyethylene terephthalate substrates. The bare graphenes were further hybridized with multiwalled CNTs by drop-coating CNTs on graphenes. The supercapacitors using bare graphenes and graphenes with CNTs revealed that graphenes with CNTs resulted in enhanced supercapacitor performances of 2.2- (the mass-specific capacitance) and 4.4-fold (the area-specific capacitance) of those of bare graphenes. Our strategy to improve electrochemical performance of CVD-grown graphenes is advantageous for large-scale graphene electrodes due to high electrical conductivity of CVD-grown graphenes and cost-effectiveness of using multiwalled CNTs as compared to conventional employment of single-walled CNTs.
