Development of the Splint Manufacturing Process Using Indirect Coating and Roll Bonding

With the increase in number of the athletic population and elderly demographic, the demand for orthopedic splints, which are used to support a damaged body, has rapidly increased. Current splints mainly consist of inner and outer parts, which are multiple fabrics covered with polyurethane and nonwoven fabrics, respectively. However, the laminated materials with directly applied pre-polymer coating lead to a high defect rate because of the uneven thickness on the surface. Thus, this study proposes an indirect coating method using a precise clearance controller, which enables the even application of the coating material on multiple inner parts while maintaining a constant thickness. In addition, a roll-to-roll (R2R) technique is applied instead of the sewing mechanism to bond the inner and outer materials together and enhance the productivity in the final stage. In the advanced methods, there is a storage tank that contains polyurethane, a clearance controller, and pairs of rollers in the upper and lower rows. To improve the quality of the products and optimize the equipment, three controllable factors are determined: the viscosity of polyurethane, angle of the gap controller and number of pairs of rollers in the R2R system.
유한요소해석을 이용한 족저근막염 예방용 인체공학적 패드에 관한 연구

최근 인구의 고령화와 생활 스포츠에 대한 관심과 활동이 급속히 증가함에 따라 족저근막염을 호소하는 환자의 수가 증가하는 추세이다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 질환을 근본적으로 예방하기 위해 인체공학적 쿠션 패드를 개발하고자 한다. 효과적인 패드 설계를 위해 의학적으로 정상인의 발과 평발을 구분하여 기구학적 링크 모델로 표현하였다. 이를 이용하여 발바닥과 신발 패드 접촉 부분에 대한 응력분포와 족저근막의 변형량을 유한요소해석을 통해 분석하였고, 발의 뒷부분에서 응력과 변형이 집중됨을 확인할 수 있었다. 해석 결과를 바탕으로 개발한 수경화성 폴리우레탄 수지로 인체공학적 쿠션 패드를 제작하였고, 착용자의 발의 형태에 맞게 경화 후에 3D 스캐너를 이용하여 실제 발 형상과 비교함으로써, 기존 신발 패드 대비 인체 성형성이 향상됨을 확인하였다. The number of people suffering from plantar fasciitis has been rising due to an increasing elderly population and sport activities. This study developed an ergonomic cushion pad as a cost-effective method to prevent foot disease. To design the foot orthotics, kinematic link models, medically divided into normal foot and flat foot, were developed. Using these models, stress distribution between the sole of the foot and the foot orthotics, as well as deformation from plantar fascia were analyzed by finite element analysis. Our results show that both stress nd deformation were concentrated in the rear of the foot. According to the results of FEA, a cushion pad from arch support to heel was manufactured using a new type of water-hardened polyurethane. This was then compared with a human foot using a 3D scanner. We have demonstrated that the formability of the new design is an improvement on the conventional design.
Ramsay - Hunt 증후군 환자에서 지속적 경부 경막외 차단 및 성상신경절 차단의 효과

Ramsay-Hunt syndrome is a related but more serious disorder caused by herpes zoster viral infection of the geniculate ganglion. It is characterized by unilateral painful vesicular rash of the uvula, palate, auricle, ear canal, and postauricular area, but it can extend into the facial tissues as well. Paralysis of the facial nerve is often seen, and there can be disequilibrium and hearing problems also. We experienced continuous cervical epidural block (CCEB) with intennittent stellate ganglion block is effective in Ramsay-Hunt syndrome. CCEB should be considered to the treatment of choice in Ramsay-Hunt syndrome.

Knowledge of ground thermal properties is most important for the proper design of large scale BHE(borehole heat exchanger) systems. The type, pipe size and thermal performance of the BHE is highly dependent on the ground source heatpump system-efficiency and instruction cost. Thermal response tests with mobile measurement devices were developed primarily for in-situ determination of design data for large diameter BHE. The main purpose has been to determine in-situ values of effective ground thermal conductivity and thermal resistance, including the effect of ground-water flow and natural convection in the boreholes. The test rig is set up on a some trailer, and contains a circulation pump, a inline heater, temperature sensors, flow meter, power analysis meter and a data logger for recording the temperature, fluid flow data. A constant heat power is injected into the borehole through the U-pipes system of test rig and the resulting temperature change in the borehole is recorded. The recorded temperature data are analysed with a line-source model, which gives the effective insitu values of rock thermal conductivity and borehole thermal resistance of large diameter BHE.
임상연구 : 부분마취 환자에서 수술 중과 수술 후의 음악이 수술 후 불안과 긴장 완화에 미치는 영향

Background: Music influences the body and mental well-being of humans. Almost all patients undergoing surgery experience perioperative anxiety. This study was designed to determine the effect of music during surgery and the post-operation period under regional anesthesia on the level of anxiety, relaxation and fatigue. Methods: Sixty-four patients who underwent orthopedic surgery under regional anesthesia were randomly assigned to Group 1 (listening to music) and Group 2 (no music). The premedication and anesthesia were standardized for both groups. The level of anxiety, fatigue and psychological well-being were examined as outcome variables. Results: The level of anxiety and psychological well-being was significantly lower (anxiety:P = 0.012, psychological well-being:P = 0.006) in Group 1 than in Group 2. The level of fatigue was similar in both groups. Conclusions: The results suggested that music might be effective in reducing the level of intra and post-operative anxiety and improving the psychological well-being of patients undergoing surgery under regional anesthesia. In this study, the magnetic density flux was predicted using simulation program. As a result, the magnetic density flux was lower at the center of pole on inductor than outside. It had same result on the experimental verification. And magnetic force was lower according to increase of working gap. So, to improve the magnetic force, permanent magnet was installed under the workpiece. In that case, the magnetic density flux not only at center but also at outside of pole was increased. Therefore, the efficiency of magnetic abrasive polishing was also increased.

Recently, polyurethane pre-polymer has been used widely in the social life. In this paper, evaluation of parameters for polymerization process was carried out using design of experiments. As a result, the effect of each parameter affected by viscosity and residual NCO of pre-polymer was found. Optimization of polymerization process was performed. and the these results were applied to produce casting tape having a better performance.
