The softwares in a railway system are being used in the area of railway control system, directly associated to safety, as well as in the field of data collection or database, which is not related to safety. Also the software takes the form of □□Embedded□□ that let it behave at the level of system, instead of independent operation. Consequently, it can be considered that the safety of software is combined with that of hardware, and also directly connected to system safety. The approach, for ensuring the quality and safety of those software, can be considered with two points of view. Those are views seeing from products, and from processes. The former one is to check the states of the finally launched products, rather than to examine the manufacturing processes and work forces, the latter approach assumes that the process maturity should be based to make good quality and sound software. The product approach is to check the safety of products by performing proper tests (White Box or Black Box test) to developed products depending on each Lifecycle, and the process approach is to validate maturity of the organizations in accordance to the judging processes of organizations, which are specified by CMMI(Capability Maturity Model Integration) or SPICE(Software Process Improvement and Capability dEtermination : ISO/IEC15504). The two points of approach are all necessary in the railway system. In this paper, as the first step of them, we are trying to find approaches to estimate the maturity of manufacturer and assessment organization in the railway system.

철도신호시스템은 열차들의 운행간격과 열차진로를 제어하는 기능을 담당함으로써 열차를 안전하고 효율적 으로 운영하는 데 있어 핵심적인 역할을 수행한다. 철도신호시스템의 고장은 열차운행중지를 비롯하여 열차충돌이나 탈선등과 같은 치명적인 사고로 직결될 수 있기 때문에 시스템의 신뢰성과 안전성이 매우 중요하다. 현재까지 철도신 호시스템에서는 기존의 지상신호방식이 많이 사용되어 왔으나, 지상에 설치된 신호기 현시상태를 기관사가 육안으로 확인하여 열차속도를 제어함에 따른 기관사의 인적오류 등의 사고 위험이 있다. 아울러 시스템의 수명이 다 되어 시 스템절체의 필요성이 있다. 이에 따라 최근에는 컴퓨터 및 통신기술을 이용하여 열차속도제어 정보를 차량으로 송신 하여 차량에서 열차속도를 제어하는 차상신호방식이 도입 및 적용되어 효과를 나타내고 있다. 수명이 다 된 신호시스 템을 교체하기 위하여 승객을 위한 운행서비스를 하면서 새로운 방식으로 절체하는 것이 필요하다. 이에 본 논문에서 는 열차를 운영하면서 기존의 시스템과 새로운 시스템을 혼용하여 사용하면서 절체과정의 절차와 시스템 검증을 위 한 일련의 과정 중 간섭 문제에 대하여 특정한 기능을 부가하여 해결된 사례를 시험평가를 통해 검증하였다. The railway signalling system plays an essential role in the safe and efficient train operation as serving control functions of train operation intervals and train routes. The reliability and safety of the system are very important because the failure of the railway signalling system can lead to train collision or derailment as well as train operation stop. Until now, in railway signalling system the conventional wayside signal mode has been used generally. There are, however, the risk of accidents such as human mistakes caused by that the driver identifies the signal lamp status and controls train speed with the naked eye. It is also necessary to refurbish the obsolete system. Thereby, It is being effective that the onboard signal mode has been recently introduced and applied in order to transmit the speed control information to train by using the computer and communication equipment. It is necessary to switch over the system in a way while providing passengers with an operation service to replace the obsolete signal system. In this paper, we verify the cases through trial assessment which are solved by the way of adding specific functionalities in the problems of interference among the procedure of switch-over processes and a serial of processes for system verification while a train is operated in the new system in parallel to the existing system.

EU is in the process of developing a new european global navigation satellite system - Galileo project - which technologies and capitals from member states of EU are put into, after determining to set up a separate GPS against that of US late in the 1990s. Galileo system is commercial global navigation satellite system, which allows other else nations outside of EU to participate in system development and operation, different from GPS. Korea also decided to join in the project on February in 2005. Galileo system provide 5 Services - Open Service, Safety of Life, Commercial Service, Public Regulated Service, Search and Rescue Service, and especially it can be applicable to safety-critical areas, and is to provide its part of services certified. In this paper, we are to compare the services of Galileo system, and to present necessary factors to be considered, and the applicability to use the Galileo system in safety-critical application areas, such as train control system
열차제어시스템을 위한 바이탈 소프트웨어 테스팅 자동화 도구의 제안

A S/W testing for vital railway signaling system have been important because of the increase of software usage for signaling. And also the safety of vital signaling system is required by int‘l std. such as IEC 61508. While much efforts have been reported to improve electronic hardware's safety, not so much systematic approaches to assessment software's safety. In this paper, we propose a automation schemen of software testing tool for railway signaling system. From that, we show the functional architecture and internal components of the tool.

Recent advances in embedded system technology have brought more dependence on automating train control. While much efforts have been reported to improve electronic hardware"s safety, not so much systematic approaches to evaluate software"s safety, especially for the vital software running on board train controllers. In this paper, we have developed a software testing tool to evaluate train control system software safety, expecially "Metric Analysis" module. We have reviewed requirements in the international standards and surveyed available tools in the market. From this, we identified the S/W metric analysis module is required for software evaluation. So we have developed S/W metric analysis modulefor railway signaling systems.
