Lightning induced faults accounts for more than 66% at the transmission lines of KEPCO. The lightning causes damages to power system equipments including transmission line, the blackout of electricity and the electro-magnetic interference. Because of this reason, we need the real time lightning information for the optimal operation of power system. And, it is required to obtain and accumulate the lightning current parameters for the insulation design. In 2005, KEPRI constructed a lightning detection network, the KLDNet (i.e. Kepco Lightning Detection & Information System) and launched a lightning information service for KEPCO customers. It is intended to provide data service on the operation of transmission lines and collect lightning-related data, which is the most important factor regulating power system design and operation. The new system will replace LPATS, the old detection system, which has been operating since 1995 and is rapidly failing in terms of both detection performance and location accuracy. The purpose of this paper is to explain the work performed and the results of that work in performing a site survey of several locations. The purpose of the site survey is to find locations acceptable for the installation of a lightning location receiver in support of a Lightning detection system(LDS). A restriction was placed on the surveyed locations, as they must belong to the Korea Electric Power Company. This requirement was made to facilitate the communication needs of the LDS network. Total of 15 sites were evaluated as possible LDS sensor sites. Some of the sites were rejected for physical reasons and therefore no electrical testing was performed. Of the 15 sites, total of 10 sites were considered acceptable and 5 sites were rejected for various reason. In this paper, we would like to explain the site survey and detection efficiency for LDS.

최근 전력설비의 품질 향상과 시스템 운영기술의 발전으로 전력설비 자체의 고장은 낮은 수준으로 억제되고 있어, 상대적으로 바람이나 낙뢰와 같은 자연재해에 의한 고장이 차지하는 비중이 증가하는 추세이다. 특히, 낙뢰에 의한 고장을 억제하기 위해서는 효과적인 절연설계가 필요하며, 이를 위해서는 여러 가지 과전압해석이 필수적이다. 낙뢰에 의한 과전압해석을 위해서는 낙뢰특성에 대한 기본데이터와 이의 분석된 결과가 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 체계적인 낙뢰대책 수립을 위해 도입된 한국전력공사의 낙뢰관측시스템인 KLDNet(Kepco Lightning Detection Network)의 낙뢰관측 정보를 이용하여 낙뢰발생분포, 낙뢰의 다중도, 연간낙뢰일수, 대지낙뢰밀도, 낙뢰전류의 크기 등 절연설계에 필요한 기본 자료에 대해서 통계 처리하여 분석하였다. Recently, the failures of electrical equipment have been reduced due to the improvement of its quality and the advance of operation techniques but the failure rates caused by natural disasters such as wind and lightning have been increased. To reduce the failures due to lightning, it is necessary for insulation design of transmission lines to be done, effectively. Also the analysis on the lightning characteristics is essential to the effective insulation design. In this paper, we describe lightning distribution, multiplicity, IKL(Iso-Keraunic Level) and amplitude distribution of lightning current base on the lightning data by KLDNet.
초등학교 체육교사의 리더십유형과 수업인지도 및 수업만족도에 관한 연구

The purpose of this study is to analyze the relationships among elementary school physical education teacher`s leadership behavior, lesson awareness and satisfaction. A group of elementary school students who study in Busan participated in the survey and 396 vaild questionnaires were collected. To conclusions were verified using SPSS 12.0 through the multiple regression analysis and were drawn as follows. First, servant leadership and charisma leadership appeared to have a significant effect on lesson awareness. Second, servant leadership and charisma leadership appeared to have a significant effect on lesson satisfaction. Third, lesson awareness appeared to have a significant effect on lesson satisfaction.
녹색무역 기반 강화를 위한 철도 인터모달 로지스틱스 시스템 구축에 관한 검토

A series of environmental issues have been raised in the field of logistics recently, as well. In South Korea, attention has been focused on the establishment of an intermodal logistics system from the perspectives of environment and logistic efficiency as a countermeasure against them. This study reviewed overall tasks to build an intermodal logistics system for the South Korean railroad by examining the case of the United States, which has invested efforts into the establishment of an environment-friendly and efficient intermodal logistics system through intermodal transportation promotion policies such as ISTEA, NHS, and TEA-21, utilization of ITS and ICT, and expansion of intermodal railroad transportation. There are several tasks to fulfill in order to establish an intermodal logistics system for the South Korean railroad: first, the legal institutions should be arranged to enable intermodal transportation business including railroad transportation; second, plans should be set up to arrange the corridors connecting the railroad terminals with the truck terminals and secure necessary funds over a long period of time; third, there is a need to increase the competitive edge of service by offering cargo tracking and security information incorporated into ITS and ICT; finally, it is also required to build an intermodal network to allow the South Korean railroad terminals to connect to the inland areas of Japan and China in preparation of FTA among Korea, China, and Japan.

Since 1996, KEPCO has been operating a wide range lightning detection system, LPATS, and been accumulating relative application technics and statistical analysis skills. So, KEPRI already has its own basis to develope more accurate advanced detection technology and references to do comparative study. For Three-dimensional imaging of lightning channels, UHF/VHF antenna systems were installed at 2 sites. The distance between two sites is about 30 ㎞. In this paper, we would like to introduce about our system and its results.

Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) allows developed nations with greenhouse gas emission reduction commitment under the Kyoto Protocol to implement an emission-reduction project in developing countries and have the emission reduction credits recognized as its own. The sector of transportation accounts for approximately 20% in global CO emissions. Although it is regarded as a field that has a high need for support in developing countries, reviews of CDM projects in the field have been postponed due to uncertain performance measurement and the poor development of analytical techniques for effect measurement. One of the major support projects for developing countries, the railroad sector in particular, has a very small number of cases registered at United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) as CDM projects and thus shows limitations with the implementation of CDM. This global situation is also the case in South Korea. This study thus set out to review the indicators and methodologies to measure project effects and explore their applicability to CDM projects in Korea as a way to expand CDM projects in the railroad sector, which is known to have great potential for emission reduction in the sector of transportation, as well as to examine all the improvement tasks for project expansion.

After the establishment of the ‘Staggers Rail Act of 1980’, which established an atmosphere of free competition in the rail freight transportation market, freight railway in America became larger and the proportion of freight railway in the market increased. In 2008, it took up 43% of the transportation market based on ton/mile unit and the productivity of freight rail increased. On the other hand, in the case of Korea, the competing atmosphere is being set up under the influences of the renovation of the rail transportation industry in 2004. However, to make the rail transportation market more active and become more advanced, a lot of effort is required to build a stronger foundation for a free competition atmosphere. In this paper, we have deducted the political implications on the establishment of strengthened competition in Korean rail transportation industry from reviewing what kind of changes the rail transportation market in America went through and how it was developed. In this case, we have focused on the changes in industrial trends towards the restriction policy. Also influences of the deregulation policy after 1980 on the enhanced market efficiency were reviewed.
