Stirling cryocoolers have been widely used for the cooling of infrared sensors and high temperature superconducting filters to the temperature of the liquid nitrogen. The Stirling cryocooler with the rotary compressor is applicable to the cooling device for the compact mobile thermal imaging system, because the cryocoolers have the compact structure and light weight. This paper presents design, manufacturing process, performance test and environmental test results in the optimum design and operating condition for the rotary type Stirling cryocooler designed and manufactured by KIMM and Nexen. and Infrared sensor systems incorporating cryocoolers are required to be qualified to the appropriate environmental specification. We performed that low and high temperature keeping test from -40℃ to +71℃ and operating test at high and low temperature cyclic range with acceptance tests performed at scheduled intervals.

S-Adenosyl-L-methionine : protein-carboxyl 0-methyltransferase (EC 2.1. 1. 24, protein methylase II) was purified from bovine renal cortex approximately 6, 780-fold with a 9% yield by combination of ammonium sulfate precipitate, Sephadex G-75 chromatography, S-adenosyl-L-homocysteine-sepharose 4B chromatography and hydroxyapatite chromatography, and then its properties and physiological role were investigated. 1. The enzyme showed a pH optimum around 5.6-6. 0. It is heat labile, inactivated by heattreatment for 3 minutes at 60℃, and when stored at -20℃ in the presence of 10% glycerol, its activity has been almost stable in a month. 2. Copper ion (Cu^2+}) and zinc ion (Zn^2+) were a potent inhibitors, the activity being completely inhibited at 2 mM. The inhibition of copper and zinc ions were recovered 85%and 63% of its activity adding of 4 mM EDTA, respectively. The inhibition of copper ion was completely recovered by adding of 10 mM mercaptoethanol, but zinc ion did not almost affect. 3. The apparent Km value for S-adenosyl-L-methionine was 4 x 10^-6M. Kinetic analysis of the enzyme in the presence of 25 uM copper ion showed that the nature of the inhibition to the enzyme was noncompetitive, considering that Km was constant and Vmax was decreased, and 50uM zinc ion showed that it was uncompetitive, considering that both Km and Vmax were decreased. 4. Immunoglobulin A, histone II and histone H3 were relatively good substrates for the enzyme. 5. The enzyme activity was completely inhibited by 0.4 mM of p-hydroxymercuribenzoic acid, but all of the activity was recovered in adding 10 mM mercaptoethanol, and the molecular weight of the enzyme was 24, 000. 6. The carboxylmethylated fractions of the brush-border membrane of bovine renal cortex had molecular weight of 70,000, 67,000, 45,000, 40,000, 31,000 and 27,000 etc. (6 fractions), as determined by SDS/polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. 7. The carboxylmethylation of the brush-border membrane increased with time, S-adenosylmethionine, substrate concentration, and methylated brush-border membrane was demethylated by 50% for 10 minutes at pH 7.4. 8. D-Glucose uptake was inhibited by carboxylmethylation of brush-border membrane. These results suggest that protein methylase II may play some roles in regulating physiological function of brush-border membrane.

Nine trials of general chemistry and eight trials of blood gas were performed for external quality assessment of clinical chemistry using commercial control sera in 1994 in Korea. Test items of general chemistry were sodium, potassium, chloride, BUN, glucose, calcium, phosphorus, uric acid, creatinine, bilirubin, total protein, albumin, cholesterol, triglycerides, AST, ALT, and LDH. Test items of blood gas were pH, pO_2 and pCO_2. The mean of each item in general chemistry and in blood gas were used as designated target value for the calculation of Variance index score(VIS), respectively. Variance index score(VIS) system are used to evaluate the performance of participant's quality control. Also coefficient of variation(CV) was given as guidance of each method. Mean CV of 14 items except enzyme tests was 7.0% and the range was 2.4-12.7%. T he CV's of glucose, phosphorus, uric acid, creatinine, bilirubin, total protein, albumin, and cholesterol are better than last year. Mean VIS of 16 items in general chemistry was 57 and the performance of 11 items was improved than mean. In blood gas control, the range of mean CV was 0.2% in pH, 11% in pO_2, and 7.0% in pCO_2. The range of mean CV of blood gas in each trial was 0.1-0.3% in pH, 8.8-14.5%- in pO_2 and 5.1-16.9% in pCO_2.

The incidence of leiomyosarcoma of stomach is relatively rare. It's true etiology is unknown, and it is more prevalent in male. Abdominal pain, gastrointestinal bleeding, and palpable abdominal mass are the main symptoms and signs. Recently we have experienced a case of very large leiomyosarcoma of stomach. A brief review of literatures and a discussion concerning leiomyosarcoma of stomach are present in this paper.
