Background: Published data regarding associations between the P275A polymorphism in the macrophage scavenger receptor 1 (MSR1) gene and prostate cancer (PCa) risk are inconclusive. The aim of this study was to comprehensively evaluate the genetic risk of P275A polymorphism in MSR1 gene for PCa. Materials and Methods: A systematic literature search was carried out in Pubmed, Medline (Ovid), Embase, CBM, CNKI, Weipu, and Wanfang databases, covering all available publications (last search was performed on Apr 27, 2015). Statistical analysis was performed using Revman 5.2 and STATA 10.1 software. Results: A total of 5,017 cases and 4,869 controls in 12 case-control studies were included in this meta-analysis. When all groups were pooled, there was no evidence that the P275A polymorphism had a significant association with PCa under dominant (OR=0.93, 95%CI=0.81-1.06, and p=0.28), co-dominant (homogeneous OR=0.97, 95%CI=0.56-1.68, and p=0.92; heterogeneous OR=0.93, 95%CI=0.74-1.15, and p=0.49), recessive (OR=1.10, 95%CI=0.65-1.87, and p=0.73), over-dominant (OR=0.93, 95%CI=0.75-1.15, and p=0.50), and allelic (OR=0.95, 95%CI=0.77-1.16, and p=0.61) genetic models. For stratified analyses by ethnicity and study design, no significant associations were found in the white race, the yellow race, the black race and mixed ethnicity, and the population-based case-control (PCC) and hospital-based case-control (HCC) studies under all genetic models. Conclusions: Based on our meta-analysis, the P275A polymorphism in the MSR1 gene is unlikely to be a risk factor for PCa.
Protective effect of liensinine on periodontitis through its antioxidant effect in mice
Liang Pang,Kai Zhu,Xia Feng,Weiwei Liu,Deguang Peng,Lihua Qiu,Xiang Gao,Jiang Deng,Ying Li,Xin Zhao 한국응용생명화학회 2015 Applied Biological Chemistry (Appl Biol Chem) Vol.58 No.6
Liensinine is the most important functional compound in lotus seeds; its protective effect on periodontitis was determined and the mechanism of its antioxidant effect was also explained. During the experiment, we could observe that liensinine could reduce the gingival index in periodontitis-induced mice, and these effects were similar to that during the treatment of periodontitis with the metronidazole drug. After the treatment with liensinine, the serum Immunoglobulin G1 (IgG1) level was found to increase and IgG2a level was found to decrease compared to the periodontitis control mice. Liensinine and metronidazole could increase the superoxide dismutase (SOD) serum levels in the periodontitis-induced mice, and both the drugs at the same concentration (200 mg/kg) showed similar SOD activities, which was found to increase. Liensinine also increased the oxidationrelated factor of catalase (CAT), glutathione peroxidase, and decreased nitric oxide, malondialdehyde, and endothelin in the serum of mice, compared to the periodontitis control mice. The serum cytokine levels of Interleukin-6, tumor necrosis factor-a, and Interferon-c in liensinine-treated mice were lower than the control mice, but higher than the normal mice. The serum IL-4 cytokine level of liensinine-treated mice was reversed, i.e., higher than the control mice. In the periodontal tissue, the mRNA and protein expressions of inhibitor of kappa B-a, transforming growth factor beta 1, Interleukin-10, Mn-SOD, Gu/Zn-SOD, and CAT were increased by the treatment with liensinine compared to the control group mice, and nuclear factor kappa B expressions showed the opposite trend. Liensinine is a good functional compound in the treatment of periodontitis, similar to metronidazole drug. Higher concentration of liensinine had better effects.
Flavones from the Bark of Lindera caudata and Their Anti-Tobacco Mosaic Virus Activity
Yu-Chun Yang,Ying Qin,Xian-Xue Wu,Cong-Fang Xia,Yan-Lin Meng,Bin Zhou,Yan-Qing Ye,Xue-Mei Gao,Yin-Ke Li,Qiu-Fen Hu 대한화학회 2015 Bulletin of the Korean Chemical Society Vol.36 No.4
Two new flavones, 5-hydroxy-8-hydroxymethyl-7,4′-dimethoxy-flavone (1) and 6-hydroxy-8-hydroxymethyl-7,4′-dimethoxy-flavone (2), together with six known flavones (3–8), were isolated from the bark of Lindera caudata. The structures of 1–8 were elucidated by spectroscopic methods including extensive 1D and 2D NMR techniques. Compounds 1–8 were evaluated for their anti-tobacco mosaic virus (anti-TMV) activity. The results showed that Compounds 1 and 2 showed high anti-TMV activity with inhibition rates of 31.2 and 28.8%, respectively. These values are close to those of positive control.

Two new butyrolactones, asperphenol A (1) and B (2), together with four known butyrolactones (3-6) were isolated from the fermentation products of an endophytic fungus Aspergillus versicolor. Their structures were elucidated by spectroscopic methods including extensive 1D- and 2D-NMR techniques. Compounds 1-6 were also tested for their anti-tobacco mosaic virus (anti-TMV) activities. The results showed that compound 2 exhibited high anti-TMV activity with inhibition rate of 46.7%. The other compounds also exhibited potential anti-TMV activities with inhibition rates in the range of 21.8-28.4%.

<P>Neutrons (2.45 MeV) from deuterium cluster fusion induced by the intense femtosecond (30 fs) laser pulse are experimentally demonstrated. The average neutron yield 103 per shot is obtained. It is found that the yield slightly increases with the increasing laser spot size. No neutron can be observed when the laser intensity I < 4.3×1015 W/cm2.</P>

Electroacupuncture at acupoint GB30 decreases the expression of trk A mRNA in monoarthritic rat
Park, Hi-Joon,Lee, Hyang-Sook,Xia, Ying-Qiu,Wang, Yun,Luo, Fei,Han, Ji-Sheng,Lee, Hye-Jung INSTITUTE OF ORIENTAL MEDICINE KYUNG-HEE UNIVERSIT 2000 JOURNAL OF ORIENTAL MEDICINE Vol.5 No.1
The aim of the present study was to assess the effect of electroacupunctue(EA) on arthritic pain and trk A mRNA level in spinal cord of the rats with chronic inflammatory pain. The chronic monoarthritic pain model was produced by intra-articular injection of complete freunds adjuvant (CFA) at right ankle joint. 2 Hz EA treatment was administered at acupoint GB30 once a week. The ankle bend scores and the differences of ankle perimeter were measured to evaluated the pain and severity of arthritis, and the abundance of mRNA coding for trk A was measured by RT-PCR at lumbar dorsal spinal cords and dorsal root ganglias. In behavioral test, both the ircumferential differences and ankle bend scores decreased significantly after EA treatment compared with those in control group at the late chronic periods. trk A mRNa levels increased in both ipsilateral and contralateral lumbar spinal cords after CFA injection, while they returned to normal after EA treatment. In conclusion, our study showed that 2 Hz EA treatment at GB30 alleviated the arthritic pain, and suppressed the expression of trk A receptor mRNA induced by CFA injection, which might implicate mechanisms of the therapeutic effect of EA.
