In systemic sclerosis, digital ulcers and gangrene are somewhat common clinical characteristics of obliterative vasculopathy. These manifestations increase morbidities, such as pain, infections, and acroosteolysis. However, patient responses to the appropriate treatments are often inadequate. We treated a patient with systemic sclerosis who had a refractory digital ulcer and gangrene with bosentan, an endothelin receptor antagonist, and observed improvement. Effects of Helicobacter pylori eradication in patients with immune thrombocytopenic purpura

Background The relationship between Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infection and chronic idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP) has been confirmed; however, no clear evidence for the effectiveness of H. pylori eradication on ITP exists thus far. The purpose of this study was to investigate platelet recovery in chronic ITP after H. pylori eradication. Methods A total of 25 patients (18 male, 7 female; the median age of 55 years) diagnosed with ITP, whose platelet counts were less than 100×103/mL, were enrolled. They were tested for H. pylori infection by the rapid urea test or urea breath test. All patients received triple therapy for 7 or 14 days to eradicate H. pylori infection. Results Of the 25 patients, 23 (92%) were diagnosed with H. pylori infection. Of all the ITP patients, 11 (44%) exhibited a complete response (CR) to H. pylori eradication therapy; 6 (24%), a partial response (PR); and 8 (32%) were nonresponsive (NR). Predictive factors of response after H. pylori eradication therapy were platelet counts at the initial response (27.3% responders among patients with platelet counts <100×103/mL vs 100% responders among patients with platelet counts ≥100×103/mL, P<0.001) and H. pylori infectivity (73.9% responders among the H. pylori positive patients vs 0% responders among the H. pylori negative patients, P=0.032). Conclusion This study confirmed the efficacy of H. pylori eradication in increasing the platelet count in ITP patients. Further studies with a larger number of patients are necessary to identify the crucial predictive factors responsible for platelet recovery in chronic ITP patients with the H. pylori infection.

4개의 후보 유전자를 분석해본 결과, 돼지의 주요 염색체 부위 및 유전자들이 주요 경제성 요인들과 관계가 있는 것으로 확인됐다. 양돈업계에서 DNA 기술을 이용한 염색체 정보를 활용하기 위해 본 연구에서는 4개의 후보 유전자에서 생성된 중합효소연쇄반응(PCR) 생성물을 비교 재 서열 함으로써 단일염기변이(SNP) 표지들을 개발했다. 또한 이들 4개의 SNP에 대해 PCR 제한효소 절편길이 다형 성(RFLP) 분석을 전개한 후, 이를 대한민국내 버크셔 종 돼지 개체군의 유전자형을 분석하는데 활용했다. 본 연구는 유용한 단일염기변이를 식별하고 돼지개체군 내 경제적으로 중요한 특성들과 SNP의 연관성을 확인하는 데 그 목적이 있다. This study was conducted to identify useful single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) and determine their association with economically important traits in pig population. Four candidate gene analyses have identified important chromosomal regions and major genes associcated whit economic traits of the pig. For application of the chromosomal information to the pig industry using DNA technology, SNP markers were developed by comparative re-sequencing of polymerase chain reaction (PCR) products of 4 candidate genes (CSF2, IL4, MYOD, RIP140). PCR restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP) assays were developed for these 4 SNPs and used to genotype Berkshire pig populations in Korea.

본 논문에서는 pushbroom 형태의 선형 CCD 카메라로부터 촬영한 고해상도 위성 영상의 정사투영 알고리즘을 소개한다. 정사투영은 초기기하학적보정, 정밀기하학적보정에 이은 위성 영상전처리의 최종단계이며 정사투영법을 사용하는 정밀 지형도 제작을 위해 반드시 필요하다. 정사투영영상을 생성하기 위해 카메라 모델은 기존에 본 학회지에 소개된 바 있는 카메라 모델 및 resampling 알고리즘(신동석, 이영란, 1997), 정밀카메라모델 결정 알고리즘(신동석 외, 1998)을 사용하였고 지형의 표고 데이터를 이용하여 알고리즘을 개발하였다. 여러 가지 실험 결과에서도 볼 수 있듯이 개발된 정사투영 알고리즘은 투시법(perspective projection)을 사용한 영상에서 지표의 고도에 따른 시차를 정확히 제거한다. 그리고 정사투영의 최종 절대 정확도는 정밀카메라모델을 생성하기 위해 사용된 GCP(Ground Control Point)의 정확도 및 사용되는 수치표고 데이터의 정확도에 의존함에도 유의해야 한다. In this paper, we introduce an algorithm for the ortho-rectification of high resolution pushbroom-type satellite images. The generation of ortho-images is the ultimate level of the satellite image preprocessing which also includes systematic geocoding and precision geocoding. It is also essential for the mapping of satellite images because topographic maps are based on the orthographic projection. The newly developed ortha-image generation algorithm introduced in this paper is on the line of the algorithms previously developed (Shin and Lee, 1997; Shin e 1998). Various experimental results are shown in this paper. The results show that the algorithm completely eliminates the disparities in the perspectively viewed images which were caused by the terrain height. The absolute accuracy of the developed algorithm depends on the accuracy of the camera model and the digital elevation model used.

<P>The calcination and hydrogen reduction behavior of Fe- and Ni-nitrate powders has been investigated by using thermal analysis and microstructure observation. Fe-oxide/NiO composite powder was prepared by calcination at 350 °C for 2 h of Fe- and Ni-nitrate. Microstructural observation revealed that FeNi<SUB>3</SUB> particles with an average size of 40 nm were formed by hydrogen reduction at 320 ° C of calcined powders. Changes of the DSC curve and the XRD pattern with the increase in reduction temperature were explained as presumably due to the phase transformation of Fe(Ni) powders.</P>

This study carried out sensitivity analysis of heating load according to the building exterior thermal performance factors by variable base degree day method for apartment house. The results of this study can be summarized as follows. (1) The result of heating load analysis seems to be linear pattern for annual heating load analysis according to partial U-factor changes. (2) Window U-factor is the most effective factor on heating load reduction rate and the U-factors of wall, floor, roof are similar to each other. (3) The result of heating load reduction rate analysis are that heating load sensitivity according to the change of window element affects more than according to the change of the window shading coefficient. (4) The result of the multiple regression analysis of the household position and direction, multiple regression equation for heating load expectation was derived.
