        白鼠의 開放性 創傷에 Zinc 연고가 미치는 影響

        Zinc is known to be important nutrient for normal growth of animals, plants and men. Especially, zinc is essential for the proper healing of wounds. It is generally accepted that zinc deficieney interferes in someway with wound healing and this can be corrected or prevented by the administration of zinc containing compounds. Giving zinc to a patient who is not zinc deficient will not improve wound healing and may be detrimental if excessive amounts of zinc are given. In our study, the rate of healing of open wound on the dorsolateral aspects of normal rats has been observed after zinc ointment being given topically and following results were obtained. 1. Macroscopically, wound contraction rate was reduced significantly at postop. 15days, about 13% compared with that of control group. 2. Biochemically, alkaline phosphatase activity, which was a major part of fibroblast activity, was markedly increased in postop. 6 days and then abruptedly decreased in control group, but in zinc treatment group, slowly decreased and in postop. 15 days the activity was htgher than control group. 3. Histologically, phagocytosis was depressed or inhibited at postop. 3 & 6 days quantatively comparing with that of control groups. 4. As an above results, local application of zinc ointment in treatment of keloid and hypertrophic scars is suggested to be effective, so further clinical investigatons are needed.

        原發性 耳下線 結核의 治驗例

        There has been a dramatic decrease in the incidence of tuberculosis in Korea, as a result of changes in general public health and hygiene, with lessening of crowded living condition and improved nutritional status of general population. With marked decrease in its general incidence of tuberculosis, head and neck involvement gas become quite rare. As a consequence, clinicians are not considered the disease as a primary part of differential diagnosis, so that there are undoubtedly patients in whome proper diagnosis and therapy are delayed or the the diagnosis is missed entirely? This is particulary unfortunate since tuberculosis has become an completely treatable disease. In this patient, any evidence of pulmonary tuberculosis in chest radiography was not recognized and same results were results were obtained from intraoral cavity and regional lymphnode. Here we report a case of primary tuberculosis of parotid gland in female patient. We confirmed the diagnosis of tuberculosis from the results through lesional biopsy at operation field and histopathologic examination.

        가토에서 편측 삼각봉합선 조기유합이 두개 안면골 성장에 미치는 영향

        Immobilization of unilateral(right) lambdoid suture was produced in 9-day-old rabbits to determine its effect on subsequent craniofacial growth. The suture was immobilized by the topical application of methyl-2-cyanoacrylate adhesive, subsequent growth effects on the cranial vault, cranial base and facial skeleton were assessed by serial radiographic cephalometry. The statistically significant result(p < 0.05) were: 1. The growth of immobilized lambdoid suture was decreased accompanying compensatory growth at coronal suture bilaterally. 2. The length of anterior and posterior cranial base was increased. 3. Anterior midfacial height was increased. 4. Lower midfacial angle(angular relationship of cranial base to lower midface) was decreased. With the view of above findings, it is clear that restricted growth was seen at unilateral lambdoid suture accompanying compensatory growth at coronal suture and resulted in altered cranial base and facial growth.

        석고모형 부피계측법을 이용한 거대설증 환자에서의 부분 설절제술 치험례

        The tongue is located inside the oral cavity at rest, and the structural interrelations between the tongue and the oral cavity is essentially important for normal tongue function. Macroglossia is clinically diagnosed whenever the tongue does not fit the oral cavity, thus patients complain of noisy breathing, drooling, speech and swallowing dysfunction, malocclusion, and social ridicule. Partial glossectomy for macroglossia volume has been assumed to be difficult. In this study, we attempted to measure the tongue volume with the plaster tongue model in a 7-year-old macroglossia patient. This method is reliable and simple for measuring the tongue volume in macroglossia.

      • 肝吸蟲 感染家兎에 있어서 感染强度, 經過 및 治療에 따른 ELISA抗體價의 變動에 관한 實驗的 硏究

        Human clonorchiasis is one of the most common trmatode diseases and of very important pubic health problems in Korea. In the present study, the changing patterns of specific IgG antibody was demonstrated by the enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA) in the sera rabbits infected with clonorchis sinensis. The O.D> (optical density) values of the ELISA in the sera were merwured according to intensity and course of infections and tendency of decrease after chemotherapy. The ELISA was performed with veronal buffered saline antigen of clonorchis, peroxidase conjugated antirabbit IgG and ortho- phenylendiamine as a substrate by micro method. In the 3 groups of rabbits infected with 50(A group), 500(B group) or 100×5(C group) metacercariae, the sera were prepared biweekly up to 18th week before chemotherapy, and biweekly up to 24th week after chemotherapy. The results were as follows: 1. O.D. values increased gradually with lapse of time before treatment. The O.D. values indicated firstly 1.000 or more in 8 weeks after infection in A group and 4 weeks after infection in both B and C groups. The O.D. values reached plateau at 10 weeks after infection in A group and 8 weeks after infection in both B and C groups. Regression equations between the O.D. values of the ELISA and period(week) after infection among 2 groups were as fllows, y=0.09x+0.319 in A group y=0.08x+ 0.826 in B group and y=0.08x+0.807 in C group. 2. The O.D. values in A group which had been treated decreased gradually and became preinfection level at 24 weeks after chemotherapy. On the contrary the O.D. values in A group which has not been treated showde plateau. The O.D. values in both B and C groups which had been cured decreased gradually and became preinfection level at 24 weeks after chemotherapy.

        다양한 형태의 자가두개골을 이용한 두안면부변형의 개선

        Traditional bone donor sources include the rib, ilium and tibia all share some disadvantages such as postoperative pain, limitation of exercise etc. So an alternate donor site with minimal morbidity is desirable. The potential of the calvarium as a bone donor site for craniofacial reconstructive surgery has been recently realized and its many davantages are now recognized. Thirty one patients received autogenous calvarial bone grafts due to various etiology and follow up at least 1 month to 18 months at Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Kyung Hee University hospital from May 1986 to July 1988. The results are as follows ; Calvarial bone as a bone donor site has following advantages 1. A visible scar at the donor site is avoided 2. Appropriate curvature is obtained when the donor site is properly selected. 3. Pain and functional inability are absent 4. Easy to molding for the adjustment to the recipient site 5. Grossly there is no secondary deformity due to bone resorption In the authors' experience, calvarial bone grafting is useful technique in restoring craniofacial surface defects.

      • UV 에칭을 이용한 역삼투막의 실란-에폭시 표면 개질

        본 연구에서는 역삼투막의 내오염성을 향상시키기 위해 실란 커플링제로 표 면 개질하여 steric hinderance를 일으키고 에폭시 코팅으로 친수성을 향상시키고자 하였다. 상용 역삼투막을 UV로 식각하여 표면을 활성화한 후 말단기가 다 른 실란 커플링제를 sol-gel 공법으로 표면 개질하고 에폭시를 이용하여 코팅하였다. 그 결과, 친수성 및 내오염성이 향상된 것을 확인하였고, FT-IR, SEM, XPS 를 통해 막의 특성을 분석하였다.
