Vol.0 No.18
This study is designed to delineate the reality of "other spirits" as opposed to the Holy Spirit and to deal with them for the spread of the Gospel. Pastoral practice is the proclamation of the Gospel to the spiritual world in general and to the spiritual reality of human persons because in pastoral ministry a pastor is confronted with "other spirits" rampant and unsuppressible activities. Accordingly, a pastor's role and function should be executed in the spiritual realm. In reality, however, in terms of pastoral ministry church and theology have placed emphasis upon the Spirit of God only. Jesus Christ's earthly life can be encapsulated into expelling evil spirits or demons. Sound souls possess sound doctrines . In that sense it can be said that we focus on "other spirits" as much as on the Holy Spirit in that not only they devastate Christians' souls but also they generate heretics. If a pastor ignores the wicked endeavor of "other spirits", a denomination's fundamental tenants will be meaningless. "Other spirits" have launched attacks on world history, Christ's life as well as Christians. Especially Reformers noticed their behaviors with reference to theology and Christian life. In short, it is imperative to take notice of "other spirits" for the formation of sound pastoral ministry and thus for the proclamation of the Gospel.

Korea has remained the only divided nation in the world since Germany was reunified on Oct. 3, 1990. The process of reunification in Germany should not be regarded as a result of excellent national policies or outstanding political leadership. The reunification of Germany arose only due to the movements of “peace prayer” and “peace meditation” in the churches of East Germany, which had been under extreme threat, violence, and oppression by communism. While small prayer or meditation meetings for peace were developing into the civil ‘peace revolution’, the churches in East Germany stood before God’s Word for the peaceful world that had been a national hope. Further, the churches reconfirmed that they were the intercessory prayers for the world as well as the deliverers of God’s word for this era. Identifying themselves as intercessory prayers and tools for peace, they dauntlessly accepted and endured the sufferings and the violent oppression from East Germany’s officials. Like this, the awakening of the ministries in East Germany became a basis for the realization of the reunification between East and West Germany. It is expected that to considerate the socio-political roles that East Germany’s churches showed would encourage the Korean Church to share the responsibility and role for the unification between North and South Korea, and would suggest an example of the direction of progress.
