命名論① : どうぶつの名前(ペツトネ-ム) About the(pet) Names of Animals

Recently, concern for giving a name was being high. More less human name, firm's one, goods one, school's one, even to the train's one or racing horse's one was named being intended to achieve the best effect, even by collecting publicly. To see them in the view point of the study of naming behavior, they can be called as a theory of naming, which can be classified as the one of geographycal naming, human naming, and vocabulary naming. To treat them in the aspect of sociolinguistics was the contents of this thesis. For the first one in the theory of naming, as I studied the animal's name(pet), animals that were at 4 zoo in Kansai.

대상으로 한 日本燒酎名은 北海道·東北地方의 67酒名(이하 酒名생략), 關東地方135, 北陸·中部地方136, 近畿地方84, 中國·四國地方125, 九州·沖繩地方710이며 모두 합쳐 1257종류의 燒酎名이다. 주요 참고서는 誠文堂新光社간행의『燒酎1891種』이며 제각각의 酒造회사 홈페이지를 참고로 했다. 日本燒酎名의 ‘名’을 분류했을 때 가장 눈에 띠는 것은 方言이며, 方言은 재미와 의외성에 신기함이 더해져 꽤나 흥미를 끄는 존재이다. 다음으로는 쌀·보리·감자·고구마·사탕수수·메밀 등의 원료명이다. 세 번째로는 25度·30度·43度·20度등의 알코올 度數표시이다. 기본이 되는 人名중에는 유명인물을 포함해 창업자·술 만드는 장인 이름·경영자 등 주조와 관련된 사람부터 미인·딸·아가씨 등 일반 인칭대명사가 포함된다. 地名에는 町·村·里·市·國등이 들어가며 특히 옛 地名이 많은 점이 특색이라 할 수 있다. 일본의 國花로 간주되는 벚꽃은 16곳서 쓰이며 富士山의 富士는 9곳에서 사용되고 있다. 좋은 意味를 나타내기 위해 中國의 經典이나 漢詩등에서도 인용하고 있으며 出典은 古事記등의 역사서나 傳說·神話·昔話·故事·俳句·歌謠등로부터도 다수 취하고 있다. 表記에 있어서는 오래된 전통 그대로 漢字사용한 것이 50%를 넘는 가운데 漢字와 히라가나의 조합이 主流를 이루고 있지만 로마字와 가타카나는 상대적으로 사용비율이 낮은 편이다. Names of targeted Japanese Soju include 67 ones of Hokkaido·Tohoku region, 135 ones of Ganto region, 136 ones of Hokuriku·Jyubu region, 84 ones of Kansai region, 125 ones of Jyukoku·Shikoku region, and 710 of Kyushu·Okinawa region, which total 1257 ones. Main references are 1891 kinds of Soju published by SeibunndoSinkousha and the homepage of each soju manufacturing company. When ``name`` of names of Japanese Soju is classified, the most notable feature is a dialect that draws much interest with fun and unexpectedness plus novelty. The second feature is names of ingredients such as rice·barley·sweet potato·sugar cane·buckwheat and others. The third feature is alcohol proof indicators such as 25 degrees·30 degrees·43 degrees·20 degrees, and etc. Among basic personal names, general personal pronouns from those who are related with producing alcohol such as founder·master of producing alcohol·manager along with celebrities to beautiful woman·daughter·young lady are included. Names of land include Cho·Son·Li·City·Country and others, in particular, there is a feature that ancient names of land are many. Cherry blossoms regarded as a national flower in Japan are used in 16 names; Fuji of Mount Fuji in 9 names. Some are quoted from Chinese scriptures and poems in order to reflect good meanings, and lots of references are taken from classics like Kojiki or legend·myth·fairy tale·ancient affair·Haiku·pop music, and etc. While Chinese Characters are being used over 50% alone in the notation of names, the combination of Chinese characters and Hiragana makes the mainstream.

命名論④ 日本의 大學名 : 四年制 私立大學을 中心으로 The Case of Private Universities

How many universities are there and what are there in the name of national universities, public universities and private universities? If they decided the school names by making the most of area names in national universities and public universities, how is the case of private universities? In case of 4-year system universities, who, why and through which process do they get to name the schools? This researcher tries to examine whether the person’s names are frequently used, what are the characters to be used frequently, isn’t there the case to change their names, what is the feature of universities which opened recently, and what are the patterns of the naming? Reference books are “Universities in Japan,” “Guidebook on the ranking of uneversities in Japan”, “Yearbook for the examination of nationwide universities”, “Guidebook on the nationnal and private universities” and the books published for the publicity of guidance on the examination for entrance etc. And, by asking for the co operation about questionnaire to each university, we heard from 90 schools or so. in reply. As for the contents, we asked procedure, method and process etc. as to who, when and how could name the universities? Generally, 2-year-system junior colleges to be referred to as short-term colleges were cxcepted. And, this researcher made only 4year-system universities as the object by including 10 universities such as the defense universities etc. except the universities which are under the control of the Ministry of Education in this.
