Solar/absorption cooling system was analyzed and its operating condition was examined. For the system, the optimum size of absorption refrigerator and collector area should be determined. As the temperature of water supplied to the generator increases, the collector efficiency decreases whereas the coefficient of performance of absorption refrigerator increases up to a certain point, and vice versa for decreasing of the temperature of water supplied to the generator . Thus if the reeling load is given, the appropriate operating condition can be determined between the two opposing trends by simulation program. As an example of the simulation, the case of Jejudo province was studied. Under the conditions (such as weather data and prices of components, etc.) given en the sample calculation, the result shows that the optimum temperature of water supplied to the generator turned out to be $80.3^{\circ}C$, and still shows a large economical disadvantage in present stage compared to the case of conventional vapor compression cooling/heating combined heat pump system.
한국산 수삼의 재배환경(논, 밭)에 따른 식물화학성분 비교

Objectives: This study aimed to examine the changes in ingredients according to its cultivation method by examining the content of saponin and non-saponin components of ginseng. Methods: Ginseng saponin component analysis was compared and reviewed using the high-performance liquid chromatography method, and acidic polysaccharide component was measured using the carbazole sulfuric acid method. Results: The comparative analysis of ginseng saponin content of 4 and 6 years old fresh ginseng showed the following results. According to the cultivation method, upland field cultivation fresh ginseng showed higher average content of crude saponin than paddy field cultivation fresh ginseng. Whereas, paddy field cultivation fresh ginseng showed higher average content of total saponin than upland field cultivation fresh ginseng. Ginsenoside Rb1 showed higher content of paddy field cultivation fresh ginseng than upland field cultivation fresh ginseng in 6 years old ginseng. However, it showed higher content of upland field cultivation fresh ginseng than paddy field cultivation fresh ginseng in 4 years old ginseng. Additionally, ginsenoside Rg1 showed higher content of paddy field cultivation fresh ginseng than upland field cultivation fresh ginseng in 6 years old ginseng, whereas upland field cultivation fresh ginseng showed higher content of paddy field cultivation fresh ginseng in 4 years old ginseng. The effect on the content of ginseng saponins and acidic polysaccharides according to paddy field and upland field cultivation methods is considered to be small. Conclusions: The paddy field cultivation method, which is more efficient in production cost due to depletion of farmland and long-distance cultivation, is considered to be an economical cultivation method.
오리피스 유량계와 터빈 유량계의 직관부길이와 유동안정기에 관한 연구

Orifice meters and turbine meters are frequently used for measuring gas flow in gas industry. However, to insure the accuracy of the measurement, a certain length of the meter run at the upstream of the flow meter is required. The objective of this study is to analyze flow measurement errors of the orifice meter quantitatively for shorter lengths of the meter runs than those suggested in the standard manuals with variation of diameter ratio(βratio) and flow rate and also to analyze flow measurement errors of the turbine meter with and without straightener.<br/> The test results showed that the flow measurement errors of the orifice meter were inversely proportional to the diameter ratio. In other words, when the diameter ratio is 0.3 and 0.7, the measurement error is -7.3% and -3.5%, respectively. the main reason of the measurement error is due to the swirl effect from the configuration of the meter run at the upstream of the flow meter. In case the length of the meter run is shorter than that suggested in the standard, the swirl effect is not removed completely and it affects the flow meter's performance. As mentioned above, the less the pipe diameter ratio, the more the flow measurement error. It means that the swirl effect on the orifice meter increases as the βratio decreases.

We have investigated the feasibility of using differential pressure(pressure drop) of gas turbine meter to diagnose turbine performance degradation caused by mechanical wearing damage and/or dirt buildup or erosion. If the differential pressure between the upstream piping and the throat of a turine meter can be correlated to meter flow rate over the operating range of the meter, then a relatively simple differential pressure measurement in the filed might be used to detect meter performance changes. To test this method, we have conducted two experimental simulation on Straightener Integrated Type(SIT) turbine meter. One is for dirt buildup on turbine blade, the other is for eccentricity of the blade. Results show that this method provide a reliable measure of performace degradation and is useful maintenance indicator.

Three-dimensional pipe flows with elbows, tees and headers in three different pipe systems are calculated to estimate the effect of asymmetry of axial velocity profile and swirl on measuring accuracy of an orifice flowmeter. It is evaluated how the pressure difference across the orifice is dependent on the upstream straight pipe length and how swirl intensity, swirl angle, and axial velocity distribution affect the measuring error of the orifice flowmeter. From the results, it is found that variation of the pressure difference across the orifice is negligible in case that maximum swirl angle is less than 2$^{\circ}$, and also that the pressure difference across the orifice is more sensitive to the asymmetry of axial velocity profile rather than the swirl intensity.
