Objectives : The purpose of this study is to explore the latest trends of Chuna(chiropractic) treatment on low back pain. Methods : We investigated the latest studies on Chuna(chiropractic) treatments for low back pain via searching PubMed. 19 research papers were analyzed and the journals, the authors, countries, methods, periods, techniques of chiropractic, instruments of assessment, and ethics approvals of those research papers were examined. Results : Studies on Chuna(chiropractic) treatments were mainly published via J Manipulative Physiol Ther. The technique of chiropractic that most frequently adopted in the researchs was high-velocity low-amplitude thrust technique(HLVA). Numeric rating scale(NRS), oswestry disability questionnaire(ODI), and Roland-Morris disability index(RMDQ) were used as primary outcome assessments. There were no ethical problems found on the studies investigated. Conclusions : Reviewing the latest trends of studies on Chuna(chiropractic) treatments for low back pain and figuring out the strong points and weak points of those treatments are necessary to future studies. It is anticipated that this review would benefit the in-depth treatments for low back pain in terms of Korean medicine.

Purpose: Forests have positive effects on health due to phytoncide, thus increasing physical activity and stress relief. However, research has not been conducted on the daily health benefits of existing forests. Therefore, this study attempts to compare the health status and behaviors of residents in urban and forested areas. Methods: This cross-sectional study used anthropometric measures, blood tests, heart rate variability, depression, stress, and health behavior self-reports for adults between 35 and 79 years from two regions. Results: Adults living in a forested region had better health consequences-including lower prevalence of osteoarthritis (6.4%) and mean bone mineral density (-0.84) -than those in an urban region (osteoarthritis: 13.7%; bone mineral density: -1.55). The percentage of ‘physically active’ participants (measured in MET-minutes) differed significantly different between the forested (49.1%) and urban (7.3%) areas. However, health behaviors such as smoking, alcohol consumption, and regular heath check-up rates were worse among residents from the forested, than the urban area. Conclusion: We concluded that more proactive forest therapy programs are needed to prove the health differences.

Objectives : The Purpose of this study is to investigate the clinical application of Ligamentous Articular Strain technique to three patients with chronic ankle pain. Methods : To alleviate patients' pain, practitioner used acupuncture, Jungsongouhyul Pharmacopuncture and Ligamentous Articular Strain technique(mainly Ligamentous Articular Strain technique). The state of patients was measured by VAS(Visual Analogue Scale) score. Results : After treatments, patients' condition was improved. VAS score was decreased. Conclusions : These results suggest that Ligamentous Articular Strain technique is effective to improve chronic ankle pain.

The aim of this study was to analyze health promotion programs utilizing forests by reviewing regional healthcare program plans in Korea. Methods: We analyzed 227 regional healthcare program plans from 2011 to 2014; seven health promotion programs of the 16 major healthcare programs were prescribed by public health law. Results: Our analysis revealed that only 35 health promotion programs from 29 sites were utilizing forests. Furthermore, of 21 known categories of health promotion programs, only nine incorporated the use of forests. Atopy-asthma healthcare programs were the most common forest health promotion programs, which also included specialized disease management programs (e.g., for atopy prevention and healing, patients with metabolic syndrome or cancer) and specialized mental health management programs (e.g., for addiction or dementia prevention). Others included programs on the development of forest roads or industrial development using forest products. Conclusion: Health programs using forests in Korea are still very limited and primarily comprise atopy- asthma prevention/management, health behavioral change, and mental health programs. This study provided useful information for developing health policies and forest health promotion programs further in Korea.

This is a project report of the development of consecutive clinical nursing practicum modules using simulation encompassing the essentials of nursing over 4 years of university level education. Methods: The project was conducted from May to December in 2011 in a college of nursing in Seoul, Korea. Six nursing faculty members from different major subjects at the university participated in the project. The theoretical framework was sought in the first phase, resulting in utilizing Neuman`s Systems Model. The principles of developing the contents of and the links between the modules were set up in the second phase, presented as complexity, diversity, and comprehensiveness. The details in the individual module were fleshed out in the third phase. Results: Eight clinical nursing modules using simulation were developed and presented in a table in detail. The complexity, diversity, and comprehensiveness of each module increased in depth and breadth in a consecutive order. Conclusion: It is hoped that this module is a decent curricular exemplar demonstrating comprehensive nursing practice education using a simulation technique.
