This research observed the morphological change and ultrastructural change of hair after having straight permanent on the twenty years old of woman`s virgin hair through the scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy. The straight permed hair was observed that the cuticular cells of cuticle layer around the surface lifted off. Also, some cuticular cells were destructed to be off. The endocuticle of cuticular cell has formed 500 nm of holes toward the longitudinal line of cuticular cell, and some of these holes were united to have the diameter of 1 μm~1.5 μm. Cortex has formed lots of holes in line with membrane of cortical cell, especially there were the holes among the limited membrane of peripheral part of melanin granules and of macrofibrils. These holes were distributed mainly around the exocortex near the cuticle layer more than the central part of cortex, where much more holes than in the cortex of virgin hair were formed.

으름열매는 폴리페놀과 사포닌과 같은 페놀성 물질을 많이 함유하고 있다. 본 연구는 세포실험을 통해 으름열매 추출물의 항산화활성을 확인하고, 피부에 적용하였을 때 수분과 유분, 멜라닌과 홍반변화의 효과를 측정하였다. 항산화 효과 측정결과, 농도 의존적으로 폴리페놀, 플라보노이드, DPPH소거능이 상승한 것으로 확인되었고, 으름열매 추출물 크림을 사용하였을 때 수분함량 변화, 유분함량 변화, 멜라닌지수, 홍반지수의 감소가 통계적으로 유의미한 변화를 보여 으름열매 추출물 함유 화장품이 피부개선을 위한 기능성화장품으로서 활용 가능성을 확인할 수 있었다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 으름열매 추출물은 독성을 나타내지 않으면서도 피부보습, 피부개선효과를 가진 천연 및 기능성화장품 소재로서 활용 가능성이 있다고 사료된다. Akebia quinata fruit(AQF), as identified in the preceding paper, polyphenols and other phenolic components of saponin also has similar or higher levels. The purpose of this study is to analyze the effect of akebia quinata fruit extract, well-known for soothing, anti-oxidizing effects, on the improvement of the moisture, sebum, melanin, erythema content of facial skin. As a result of measuring DPPH radical scavenging activity to examine independent anti-oxidation of AQF, there was a slight scavenging activity. Compared to before the usage of cream, a group who used cream with akebia quinata fruit extract showed a very slight increase in the moisture content and slight decrease in the sebum, melanin, erythema on their faces after 4 weeks of tests, indicating that there was some statistically significant changes found. This study proves that the akebia quinata fruit(AQF) extract has a positive effect on the overall improvement of facial skin and it also implies that the akebia quinata fruit extract has high potential as an ingredient of cosmetic products.
Methylene Blue 염색법을 이용한 모발손상지수의 결정

In this study, methylene blue (MB) staining method to determine the state of hair damage was established. For this purpose, the characteristics of absorption or desorption of MB by bleached hair was studied and hair damage index(HDI), an index indicating the degree of hair damage was proposed. According to the experimental results, HDI values were found to be increased as the bleaching time or numbers were proportionally increased and this was confirmed again by determining the tensile strength(TS) of damaged hairs or by observing them with scanning electron microscope. HDI and TS was inversely proportional with repeating numbers of hair bleaching and the correlation coefficient of them was found to be 0.9078. When the hair was purposely damaged with various hair styling methods, the HDI was increased in the order of volume magic straight perm, bleaching and dying, and heat perm. From these results, the MB method may be employed as a useful method to determine the degree of hair damage.

본 연구는 오래전부터 민간요법으로 암의 치료제로 사용된 약초인 와송 추출물의 항산화 활성과 항노화 효능을 검증하였다. 와송 추출물의 항산화 활성을 측정한 결과, 총 폴리페놀 함량은 100 g의 와송 추출물 건조중량 당 12 g의 높은 caffeic acid 당량이 함유되어 있는 것을 확인하였고, 총 플라보노이드 함량은 100 g의 와송 추출물 건조중량 당 1.7 g의 quercetin 당량이 함유되어 있는 것을 확인하였다. DPPH free radical 소거능은 와송 추출물 1%의 농도에서 79.7%의 높은 소거능을 확인하였다. 또한 와송 추출물의 항노화 효능 측정 결과 25 μg/mL, 50 μg/mL 농도에서 control과 유사한MMP-1 발현 억제능을 확인하였다. 와송 추출물의 임상실험결과 와송 추출물 함유 화장품 사용군의 수분함량은 오른쪽 볼과 코, 턱의 부위에서 통계적으로 유의하게 증가하였고, 정상적인 피부의 유분 함량과 pH를 유지하는 결과를 확인하였다. 이상의 결과에 따라 와송 추출물은 항산화와 항노화 효능을 가진 천연 화장품 소재로서의 활용 가능성이 있다고 사료된다. This study tested the antioxidant activities and anti-aging effects of an extract of Orostachys japonicus, a herb used as a folk remedy for cancer for a long time. To assess the antioxidant activities of the Orostachys japonicus extract (OJE), the total polyphenol content was confirmed to have a high caffeic acid equivalent weight of 12 g by dry weight of 100g OJE and the total flavonoid content was confirmed that the quercetin equivalent of 1.7 g by dry weight of 100g OJE. DPPH free radical scavenging activity was confirmed a high scavenging activity of 79.7% at a concentration of 1%. To confirm the anti-aging effect of OJE, MMP-1 expression was decreased in 25 μL/mL and 50 μL/mL similar to control. In a clinical experiment, a group of subjects who used a cosmetic product containing OJE showed a significant increase in the amount of skin moisture from the forehead, left cheek, and chin. The experimental group showed a significant increase in the amount of skin sebum from the chin and maintaining pH balance of normal skin, As a result, the OJE demonstrates the efficacy of natural cosmetic material as antioxidant and anti-aging.
