According to the recent blackouts, large blackouts can be described by cascading outages. Cascading outage is defined by sequential outages from an initial disturbance. Sequential and probabilistic approach are necessary to minimize the blackout damage caused by cascading outages. In addition, conventional cascading outage analysis models are computationally complex and have time constraints, it is necessary to develop the new analytical techniques. In this paper, we propose the advance visualization model for probabilistic analysis of cascading failure risks. We introduce the visualization model for identifying size of cascading and potential outages and estimate the propagation rate of sequential outage simulation. The proposed model is applied to Korean power systems.

Recently, the size of wind farms is becoming larger, and the integration of high wind generation resources into power gird is becoming more important. Due to intermittency of wind generating resources, it is an essential to predict power outputs. In this paper, we introduce the basic concept of curvilinear regression, which is one of the method of wind power prediction. The empirical data, wind farm power output in Jeju Island, is considered to verify the proposed prediction model.

In order to integrate large amounts of variable generation resources such as wind and solar reliably into power grids, accurate renewable energy forecasting is necessary. Since renewable energy generation output is heavily influenced by environmental variables, accurate forecasting of power generation requires meteorological data at the point where the plant is located. Therefore, a spatial approach is required to predict the meteorological variables at the interesting points. In this paper, we propose the meteorological variable prediction model for enhancing renewable generation output forecasting model. The proposed model is implemented by three geostatistical techniques: Ordinary kriging, Universal kriging and Co-kriging.

풍력발전과 실계통의 동적응동을 분석하기 위해 현재 고창에 설치되어 있는 전력품질 설비는 전력품질 외란(Sag, Swell, Flicker)을 발생시킬 수 있는 SSFG와 전력품질 보상설비(SSTS, DVR, DSTATCOM, APF), 고조파 발생기인 PCR, 부하(저항, 리액터)등이 설치되어 있고, 선로정수를 모델링 하기 위한 선로정수(10㎞, 20㎞, 30㎞, 40㎞)가 풍력발전 시뮬레이터와 연계되어 있다. 본 논문은 고창 전력품질 실증시험장에서 계통에 연계된 1.5MW급 풍력발전 시뮬레이터를 이용하여 선로정수에 따라 가변 풍속에서 이중여자 풍력발전기의 무효전력을 임의로 제어했을 때 풍력발전기의 특성을 파악하기 하고, 계통에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다.

현재 풍력발전 기술은 전 세계에서 가장 빠르게 성장하고 있는 기술로서 2010년도에 세계 보급량은 200GW를 넘을 것으로 추정되고 있다. 이에 우리나라도 풍력발전 기술 집약에 전력하고 있지만 풍력단지에 대한 운영 경험은 매우 제한적이며, 연계 기준 수립에 대한 기초가 부족한 실정이다. 따라서 한국계통의 특성을 고려한 연계 기준 및 최적 운영 방안 수립을 위한 다양한 국가에서 적용하고 있는 풍력 발전 단지에 대한 연계 및 운영 기준에 대한 검토가 필요한 실정이며 세계 각국에서 적용되고 있는 풍력 발전기의 계통 연계 기준을 분석 및 검토하였다.

In Korea, experiences in wind farm operation are limited and the foundation for setting standards in electrical system connection is still weak in comparison to the operation experience in connection of wind power to the electrical system of other countries around the world. Therefore, standards that are being applied in various countries for connection and optimal operation in wind farms need to be examined, and in addition, procedures for the assessment of the effects on the system are needed for setting connection standards and optimal operation plans in accordance with Korean electrical system characteristics. In this study, procedures for the assessment of effects of wind power connection to the electrical system are presented.

Experiences in wind farm operation are very limited in Korea, and the foundation for setting standards in power system connection is weak. Therefore, connection and operation standards for wind farms in other countries must be reviewed and power system operation criteria need to be established in order to set up connection standards and optimal operation plans according to the Jeju power system. In this study, reactive power control characteristics of a wind farm were analyzed using a wind farm model of the Jeju power system to propose power system connection operation standards for wind generation within the Jeju power system. Also, change in characteristics of the power system for the application of each reactive power control standard was confirmed, and the results were verified through trial tests arm was analyzed.

Recently, the interest on power quality has been hot issue because the equipments cause voltage disturbance and become more sensitive to the voltage disturbance. The DVR(Dynamic Voltage Restorer) is one of the Custom Power Device that can compensate the voltage. DVR operates as a series connected compensator whose output voltage can be controlled system voltage. And the magnitude of compensation voltage is limited by the characteristics of system and load. Compensation capability of DVR was simulated by EMTDC under several condition. This paper analyzed effect of DVR's compensation at power quality test center which has SSFG(Sag, swell, and Flicker Generator, CPDs(SSTS, DVR, DSTATCOM), and loads.

고창의 전력품질 실증시험장에서 계통에 연계된 풍력발전 시뮬레이터를 이용하여 풍력발전기의 특성을 파악하기 위해, 가변 풍속에서 이중여자 풍력발전기의 회전속도와 유효전력의 변화가 계통에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다. 고창의 전력품질 실증시험장은 22.9kV 계통에 전력품질 향상기기(DVR, STATCOM, SSTS)와 전력품질 외란 발생장치 등이 구축되어 있다. 모터와 VVVF를 이용하여 풍력발전기의 블레이드를 구현하고, 유도형과 이중여자 유도형 풍력발전기를 모의할 수 있는 시뮬레이터를 개발하였다. 선로의 길이를 20 kM로 가정하고, 덕적도의 풍속데이터를 이용한 가변풍속 패턴을 설정하여 풍력발전기의 회전속도에 대한 출력특성을 확인하였다.
