        Eucalyptus와 geranium이 마우스 splenocytes에서 IL-2 및 IL-4 생성에 대한 효과

        마우스의 비장세포에 아로마 에센셜 오일 중 eucalyptus나 geranium에 노출된 마우스비장세포로부터 생성되는 in-terleukin (IL)-2와 IL-4를 정량 분석하였다. Eucalyptus를 노출시킨 비장세포에서 IL-2의 생성은 저농도의 오일 노출의 경우 대조군에 비하여 증가한 반면 고농도에서는 감소를 보였으며 geranium을 노출시켰을 때에도 유사한 경향을 보였다. 따라서 eucalyptus나 geranium를 생체에 적용할 때 저농도하에서 T세포 증식을 포함하는 IL-2 관여 면역반응이 증강될 것으로 보인다. 비장세포에서 IL-4의 생성은 eucalyptus 고농도에서 증가를 보이지만 저농도에서는 큰 변화를 보이지 않았으며 geranium의 경우는 농도 의존적으로 증가하는 양상을 보였다. 따라서 eucalyptus나 geranium을 생체에 적용하였을 때 IL-4 증가는 B세포 증식을 포함하는 IL-4관련 여러 가지 면역반응을 상향시킬 것으로 예상된다. Aromatherpy is the controlled use of essential oils to promote health and well-being. In this work we have investigated the effect of eucalyptus and geranium on the production of interleukin-2 (IL-2) and interleukin4 (IL-4). Mouse splenocytes were incubated with essential oils. The culture supernatants of mouse splenocytes exposed with these oils were harvested to assay IL-2 and IL-4 production. The quantitative changes of IL-2 in splenocytes culture supernatants after exposure with these oils were decreased at high doses, but increased at low doses. But its of IL-4 were increased generally at high doses of eucalyptus. In case of the exposure of geranium, its of IL-4 were dose-dependently increased. These kinds of essential oils showed the probability to improve IL-2- and IL-4-related immune responses at the optimum exposure.

        마우스 림프종 세포의 증식에 미치는 Berberine의 저해효과

        Berberine, an alkaloid initially isolated from Chinese herbal medicine, has antibiotic activities against a variety of organisms including bacteria, viruses, fungi, protozoans, and chlamydia. Furthermore, berberine has shown a number of beneficial effects, including anti-tumor, anti-inflammation, and vasodilatory effects. In this work we have investigated the effects of berberine on cytotoxic activity against cancer cells and life span of tumor-bearing mice. The direct cytotoxicity of berberine or berberine-combined chemotherapeutic agents for mouse lymphoma cells Yac-1 was observed. In addition, the effect of life span extention was counted on Sarcoma 180 mice injected with berberine-combinated mitomycin C. The effect of growth inhibition for cancer cells, Yac-1 was shown in the cytotoxicity test of berberine or berberine-combinated chemotherapeutic agents. The effect of life span extention was observed at Sarcoma 180 mice injected with berberine-combinated mitomysin C. These findings suggest that berberine shows tumor cell growth inhibition and life span extension in Sarcoma 180 mice exposed with berberine- combinated chemotherapeutic agents. These results show the probability of its usefulness for cancer therapy if more research results were accumulated. (Cancer Prev Res 12, 200-203, 2007)

        Eucalyptus와 Geranium이 마우스의 Nitric Oxide 생성에 미치는 효과

        Aromatherpy is the controlled use of essential oils to promote health and well-being. The most frequent form of using the essential oils is through massage; however, essential oil can be used in a variety of other ways such as inhalation, vaporization, in the bath and through a compress. In this work we have investigated the effect of eucalyptus and geranium on nitric oxide (NO) production in mice to understand the effect of these oils on immune system. Mouse splenocytes were incubated with essential oils and Con A to observe the effects on cell proliferation. The culture supernatants of mouse splenocytes exposed with these oils were harvested to assay NO production. The NO production was inhibited after essential oils exposure. The reduction in NO levels by these agents may be related to down-regulation of inflammation. (Cancer Prev Res 10, 225-231, 2005)

        운동선수의 ACE 유전자 다형성과 심폐지구력

        The purpose of this study was to investigate the relevance on ACE gene and cardiopulmonary. This study employed 46 Korean elite college sports playes were composed of 20 men`s and 14 women`s soccer players and 12 women in field hockey team. They train almost same condition ore than 5 years. They were checked through GXT and blood PCR methods in VO_2max, HRmax AT and ACE gene type in polymorphism. After the check, they were divided into two groups by each data as higher and lower physical performance groups . The conclusions were as follows; 1. There were no significant differences in each distribution of genotype. 2. Ⅱ group of men and ID group of women are most higher in VO_2max. But there is no significant difference among groups. 3. Ⅱ group of men and women are inferior in AT of each gender and ACE gene. 4. In comparison with a inferior group, a superior Ⅱ group indicates high distribution in low and high group genotype distribution of men`s VO_2max and a superior group shows low distribution in DD genotype. 5. There is no correlation between every variation and significant difference in genotype and cardiopulmonary capacity. 6. There is no significant difference statistically in low and high genotype distribution of VO_2max, HRmax, AT in elite athletes.
