        일시적인 시력저하로 발견된 모야모야병

        Purpose: To report a case of moyamoya disease initially presenting transient visual loss in a healthy young subject. Case summary: A 20-year-old male with no history of systemic disease or trauma visited our clinic due to sudden onset visual loss in the right eye. There were no accompanying symptoms, including headache, seizure, paresis, or paresthesia. Best corrected visual acuity at the first visit was hand movement in the right eye and 20/20 in the left eye. No abnormal finding was revealed in the anterior segment. On fundus examination, whitening at post pole was found in the right eye. In fluorescein angiography, a choroidal and retinal artery filling delay in the posterior pole was noted. The patient’s visual acuity began to improve gradually and was recovered to 20/20 by the next day. Moyamoya disease was diagnosed based on magnetic resonance angiography of the brain and transfemoral cerebral angiography as well as stenosis of the internal carotid artery and middle cerebral artery with collateral vessel networks. Conclusions: Moyamoya disease should be considered as a possible cause of transient visual loss in healthy young subjects. J Korean Ophthalmol Soc 2012;53(2):353-356

        정상안에서 자세 변화에 따른 안압과 안구계측치의 변화

        Purpose: To investigate intraocular pressure (IOP) and ocular biometry change according to the posture change in healthy eyes. Methods: Forty eight eyes of 48 healthy young subjects were enrolled. IOP, central anterior chamber depth (cACD), and axial length were measured after keeping each position for 10 minutes (upright, sitting, supine, and prone positions) by using the TonoPen? and A-scan ultrasonography. Results: Mean IOP was 19.68 ± 2.15 mm Hg in prone position, 17.19 ± 1.33 mm Hg in supine position, 16.49 ± 1.76 mm Hg in sitting position, and 15.33 ± 1.34 mm Hg in upright position. Difference among the positions was statistically significant (p < 0.01). Mean cACD was 3.68 ± 0.35 mm in upright position, 3.63 ± 0.32 mm in supine position, 3.59 ± 0.34 mm in sitting position, and 3.47 ± 0.30 mm in prone position. Difference among the positions was statistically significant (p < 0.01) except for the difference between supine and sitting position. Linear regression analysis revealed that cACD was significantly associated with IOP in prone position (R2 = 0.139, p < 0.01). Conclusions: There was a significant change in IOP and cACD according to the posture change. cACD was significantly associated with IOP only in prone position.         3 배체 매기 ( Silurus asotus ) 의 생산과 조직 및 세포유전학적 특성 분석

        N/A Five minutes-old fertilized eggs of Silurus asotus were shocked at 4℃ to induce triploidy by retaining the second polar body. Triploid incidence increased from 1.3 to 98.7%, when the treatment duration was extended from 15 to 60 min. Erythrocyte measurement (nuclear volume : 11.3 um3 for 2N vs 17.1 um3 for 3N), number of nucleolar organizer region (1 or 2 per diploid cell vs 1∼3 per triploid cell)m flow cytometry (DNA content : 2.2 pg/cell for 2N vs 3.3 pg/cell for 3N) and chromosome count (58 for 2N vs 87 for 3N) confirmed the successful induction of triploidy. Triploids grew significantly faster than diploids (P<0.05). At the age of 3 month, the diploids contained well developed oocytes of seprmatids in their ovaries or testes, respectively. But gonads of triploid females and males were very retarded in development and abnormal in size, indicating sterility.

        자성발생성 2 배체 메기 Silurus asotus 의 생산

        N/A Meiotic gynogenesis was optimized in the far eastern catfish, Silurus asotus, using both UV-irradiated heterospecific sperm and thermal shock treatment. Eggs were activated with the sperm of mud loach (Misgurnus mizolepis) which had been irradiated with UV at dose levels ranged from 1,020 to 15,000 ergs/mm2. By examining haploidy incidence and survival of the embryos, the optimal dose for genetic inactivation of the sperm was proven to be 7,020 ergs/mm2. Combination of the initial treatment timing (5 min post fertilization) and duration of cold shock (40 mins at 4℃) yielded 92.4% of matching success. Restoration of diploid states was verified using karyoloical analysis. The sex ratios of offsprings from control crosses and gynogenetic groups were different : control group showed no deviation from 1:1 ratio (P>0.05), while gynogenetic groups displayed all femaleness (P<0.05). This results indicates that genetic sex determination of far eastern catfish is based on the XX-XY system (female homogamety), and this advance also has implication on the production of genetically improved all-female far eastern catfish stock.
