The community of phytoplankton and zooplankton and the environmental factors were investigated in Lake Soyang in spring bloom season from January to July 1994. Phytoplankton dominants in Lake Soyang were Anabaena spp., Microcystis aeruginosa, Asterionella formosa, Asterionella gracillima, Melosira distans, Synedra acus, and Asterococcus limneticus. Zooplankton dominants were Polyarthra spp., Keratella spp., Asplanchna placentula, Bosmina coregoni and Daphnia longispina. Phytoplankton and zooplankton were clearly related each other with respect to biovolume, not to numbers. Microcystis aeruginosa rapidly increased and Daphnia longirostris disappeared in July, possibly because Microcystis aeruginosa excrete toxic substances to Daphnia longirostris. Transparency gradually decreased from January to June, but increased in July. The highest cell density of phytoplankton was observed in April, and one month later the zooplankton density reached a maximal level, implicating that spring bloom of photoplankton provided good feeding condition for zooplankton.

The community of phytoplankton were investigated in Lake Soyang from January 1986 to August 1991. Dominant species in Lake Soyang was Melosira granulata, Asterionella spp. in winter, Peridinium spp. in spring, Anabaena spp. from summer to autumn, respectively. Spondylosium spp. dominated by early spring 1986 but did not thereafter. Lately, it is occurenced the number of dominant species were apt to be reduced. The value of Shannon-Wiener diversity index was inclined to decrease year by year in Lake Soyang and it became the lowest when Anabaena spp. domonated. When Peridinium spp. dominated, partial phenomena of water bloom was in full outbreak at some tributary regions between 1982 and 1985. Thereafter, Peridinium spp. significantly decreased except for showing the dominance only for one month in early spring each year. It is considered that blooming of anabaena spp. at the outer layer induced the reduction of growth of other phytoplankton. These prolonged dominance period of Anabaena spp. was thought to be enhanced by the allochthonous organic matter of fishfarms within the lake. If no essential counter-measure are taken, eutrophication of Lake Soyang would get worse because of oversupply of the organic matter.

To scrutinize the biological effects of plankton communities to bacterial community, the total bacterial numbers, chlorophyll a concentration and phytoplankton, zooplankton communities were analyzed in Lake Soyang from May 13, to July 14, 1994. At Om depth, total bacterial numbers positively correlated with chlorophyll a concentration. On the other hand, at 2m depth, the two parameters had negative correlation. At the middle of the June, when dominants of phytoplankton, zooplankton were changing, the bacterial numbers dropped down. These results suggest that as the Anabaena becoming dominant species, the some zooplankton species changed to bacterivore. The bacterial community was mainly effected by phytoplankton at Om, and by zooplankton at 2m depth.

Species numbers, species diversity, chlorophyll a of phytoplankton and various physical-chemical characteristics were investigated at inlet site(Sanggul-Ri) in Lake Soyang from 1984 to 1994. Range of water temperature was 2.9℃to 30℃, transparency 0.3m to 5.5m, CHI. a 0.4mg/m³ to 631.8m/m³, total phosphorus 1.8 mg/m³ to 341.1mg/m³ and NO_(3)-N0.19mg/L to 1.47mg/L. Phytoplankton obtained from 168 samplings was identified as 68 genus ans 169 species. The species diversity of Shannon & Weaver was 0.02 to 1.02. The diversity was relative to frequency of Peridinium spp. and Anabaena spp. Total phosphorus concentration of inlet site was seven tines higher than that of dam site, The higher value of total phosphorus and the lowest vale of nitrate-nitrogen was measured when anabaena spp. and perid. inium spp. bloomed.

The phyto and Zooplankton communities were investigated in the Daechung reservoir lake. It is the general trends of water conditions and plankton flora conserned to become Mesetrophy and early stage of eutrophication. The apeared dominant species of plankton communities were, Crytomonas sp., Eudorina elegans, Microcystis aeruginosa, Anabaena macrospora, A. spiroides, Melosira granulata, M. granulata var. angustissima, M. islandica, M. italica, M. varians, Fragilaria crotonensis, Asterinella formosa, A. gracillima, and Scenedesmus bijuger most of which wre indicator of β-mesotrophy or α-mesotrophication. The reserver were caused by eutrophied at high rate netcage-type fishfarms within the lake basins, at the resently as other ones.
