Design of AI Controllers for Multivariable Bioprocesses

Microcontroller-based systems require the design of a hardware/software interface that enables software running on the microcontroller to control external devices. This paper developed such a automatical system containing a programmable central microprocessor, ATmega32L, for controlling temperature and pH values of fermentor. With a Recursive Learning Fuzzy Algorithm, a very optimistic temperature control is completed. Results shown us the situation that difference between desired value and room temperature was lower than 10℃, exists 0.15℃ overshoot at the inception of reaching set point, but after 4 minutes it maintained around the set point at 99.90 percent accuracy. And when the desired value was more higher than room temperature, overshoot would reduce in 0.1℃. because air may seize more heat from liquid in fermentor. In another side, an on-off control model experimented on pH control is easier and faster then temperature control. Only about 1 minute will be consumed on changing 1 unit pH value. But less stability lead to a 0.2 overshoot and ±0.1 range wave around the set point.

Chemical fertilizer and agricultural chemicals are utilized excessively at present. As one of the best ways for environment protective and economic agriculture, the functional biofertilizer using ectotrophic mycorrhiza mycelium was developed.<br/> One fungus, mainly inhabit in soil, that can indirectly provide phosphatefor pine trees by the way of analyzing diagenesis soil to phosphate is well known as Suillus bovines. In addition to it, we also utilized Pseudomonas sp. and Bacillus subtilis that can analyze organism in soil; Streptomyces riseoviridis and Trichoderma harzianum which have abilities of hastening the organism decomposition to generate antibacterial substance for antipollution.<br/> Saprophytic plant material was processed economy with wastes from ferrite pulverization, slag of Posco and sawdust from sawmill or fruit farm pruning. By the reserve experiment, a mixture of sawdust and ceramic powder was made in an ingredient of sawdust 80%, rice bran 19.5%, functional ceramic powder0.5%, water 60% and sterilized at atmospheric pressure in 60℃. Then after the temperature of medium decreased to 24℃, combined it with the fungus that we introduced previously for fixed cultivation at atmospheric pressure. The growth experiment of cultured fungus was provided in a controllable simulated confined space that embodies the similar weather conditions of the field.

Fruit are normally kept in a pouch of cold storage room in winter. In this work, a mathematical model that is emulating the fruit respiration in the pouch of the storage has been established. The calculated result is compared to the actual measured gaseous composition change of pear in the packaging pouch LDPE film incorporated with silver coated ceramic powder. The presented model, that is combining polysaccharide digestion kinetics in pear, Fickian diffusion for permeation of the film and sigmoidal adsorption equilibrium between the film and gases, predicts the respiration of the pear in the packing film fairly well.
