B-ISDN 서비스를 신속하게 전개하기 위하여 지상 ATM과 위성망의 결합이 추진되고 있다. 이때 위성 TDMA와 ATM의 전달방식의 차이로 발생되는 셀 지연 변이(CDV)는 셀의 전송 품질을 저하시킨다. 본 논문에서는 기존의 CDV 보상 기법의 단점을 보완하는 부분 타임 스탬프 방식을 제안하였다. 이때 CDV를 최소화하고 위성 채널의 효율을 높이기 위해 부분 타임 스탬프의 최적화 개념을 도입하였다. 제안 기법의 성능을 평가하기 위하여 CDV 분포 폭을 평가 기준으로 하는 모의 실험을 통해 CDV 보상 성능의 우수함을 확인하였다. In order to achieve the rapid deployment of services. B-ISON network is being combined with terrestrial ATM and satellite network. Cell delay variation (CDV) generated by the difference of transfer mode between TOMA and ATM deteriorates transmission quality of the network system. We proposed the Partial Timestamps algorithm to supplement the problems of existing COV compensation methods. To minimize CDV and to utilize the satellite channels efficiently. only the optimized timestamps of a few cells within a control unit time of TDMA are selected and transmitted to the receiving earth station. The COV compensating efficiency of Partial Timestamps is evaluated by simulation. It is confirmed that CDV compensation capability of the proposed mechanism is superior to the other methods.

This paper describes a direct transmission method of multimedia data stream between a multimedia data processor and a communication interface without using memory. I propose the direct transfer method of multimedia data through the single data path, without additional data path between a multimedia data processor and a communication interface in multimedia platforms. The hardware architecture and function for the direct transfer method is defined. Procedure to transfer multimedia data to and from the multimedia data processor is described by means of control flow chart. Comparing the proposed method with general methods, I show that the proposed method can decrease number of bus accesses and bus cycles.

In this paper, we propose a multumedia hardware architecture for desktop video-conferencong in view of the multimedia data flow and analyze system operation using queucing model. We analyze the bottleneck of multimedia data floq for video-conferencing by simulation, varying the video size, frame rate, the number of participants, and video data compression rate. And we also imp;ement and test the architecture, that almost includes the analyzed requrirements for video-conferencong, to confirm the simulation results. This paper describes the considerations in designing a multimedia I/O system.
