Pain producing substance, potassium was introduced into the skeletal muscle and the changes of impulse discharges from alpha and gamma flexor motoneurons of the spinal cord were studied whether they are influenced by caffeins or not The obtained results are summarized as follows : 1. When 5mg of caffeine were injected into the gastrocnemius-soleus muscle through the arterv, duration and latency of response from gamma-flexor motoneurons were increased When caffeine (5mg) were injected with 3 min. intervals, the effects of caffeine were diminished gradually but the frequency of resting impulse discharge was increased gradually. 2. After introducing 5mg of caffeine, potassium (3.8mg) was injected intra-arterially with - 3 min. intervals into the gastrocnemius-soleus muscle. The frequency of impulse discharge and response period from alpha-flexor motoneurons were increased. And the latency of response by potassium was diminished. 3. After introducing 5mg of caffeine, potassium(3.8mg) was injected intra-arterially with 3 min. intervals into the gastrocnemius-soleus muscle. The frequency of impulse discharge and response period from gamma-flexor motoneurons were increased. And the latency of response induced by potassium was diminished. 4. After introducing 50mg of caffeine intravenously potassium (3.8mg) was injected intra-arterially with 3 min. intervals, into the gastrocnemius-soleus muscle. The frequency of impulse discharge and response period from alpha-flexer motoneurons were increased. And the latency of response induced by potassium was diminished. To summarize the above results, caffeine has activated the primary muscular afferents connecting to motoneurons in spinal cord in decerebrate cat. Also it suggests that caffeine would be helpful for locomotion, enhancing flexor reflex induced by potassium.

The radial nerve plasy is one of the most common complications in the fracture of the humeral shaft. This complication is usually occurred in middle 1/3 spiral fracture or comminuted fracture of the humeral shaft. If the nerve is ruptured, it is repaired with several technique(epineurial, perineurial & epiperineurial suture). Recent trend of nerve repair is fascicular, funicular or epiperineurial anastomosis. This two cases of ruptured radial nerves out of 88 cases of humeral shaft fracture were repaired by means of microsurgical epiperineurial technique. The result was excellent.
