Moisture separator plays a major role in separating dried steam from moisture. For maintenance and repair of a moisture separator in steam generation used for nuclear power plant, mechanical deformation behavior within welding region is critical in view of the structural integrity. In this study, stress analysis was performed using material property which was obtained by tensile test. Furthermore, the safety factor of the moisture separator is calculated and compared with the allowable strength on each component of the moisture separator. Resultantly, it is confirmed that the safety of the moisture separator under the operating condition.

In this study, the analysis and design on angle piece structure as a comer membrane of LNG cargo is presented. The angle piece membrane containing a few corrugations plays an important role to increase structural safety at the corner region of the membrane structure for LNG carrier. Finite element simulations are performed to find suitable punch shape for the angle piece structure. Furthermore, two models having two- and three-corrugation in the angle piece are also analyzed, respectively. And the simulation results are also discussed in view of the forming process and its formability according to the change of the punch shape. Two and three corrugations are found that the punch shape for forming three corrugation model is better than two-corrugation model with respect to the formability.

Membrane for LNG storage tank is one of the significant structural core elements, and plays an important role to improve and ensure the safety of the structure from excessive temperature change. In this study, the membrane structure is considered to evaluate formability in terms of thickness distribution of that part. Furthermore, to predict the thickness distribution and deformation behavior of the membrane, a series of systematic approach by adopting explicit finite element code, ABAQUS, is carried out. As the numerical result of the forming process of the membrane, the first approach shows the double wrinkle can be occurred. To solve this wrinkling occurrence, modification of the forming punch and the die is performed. Then the wrinkling occurrence could be removed, and the thickness distribution is also uniformed by comparing with the first approach.

Recently, implantable middle ear hearing system have attracted hearing impaired person's attention because it can overcome the disadvantages of conventional hearing aids such as sound distortion, sound feedback and howling effect. In this study, implantable middle ear hearing system, using DFMT(differential floating mass type) transducer that has two magnets glued with the same pole facing was evaluated by performing several experiments. The results of vibration experiments using DFMT transducer showed several advantages such as high vibration efficiency, good frequency response, minimal influencing by external magnetic flux, etc. And the results of the ABR(auditory brainstem response) test using guinea pig proved the performance of transducer in the animal's body and the possibility of clinical application of the implantable middle ear system for mild to severe hearing loss patients.
Liposome-Mediated Electric Gene Delivery into Fetal and Adult Gonads

Gene delivery is one of the keen interests in animal industry as well as research on gene functions. Some of the in vivo gene delivery 'techniques have been successively used in various tissues for the gene therapy and transgenesis. Despite intensive efforts, it still remains to overcome problems of limited loral and regional administration and low transgene expression. To improve the efficiency of gene delivery, a new procedure was tested. We injected exogenous DNA containing LacZ into the female or male gonads and then pulsed electric field. Electroporated gonads showed positive X-gal staining in many seminiferous tubules of the porcine fetal gonads. Exogenously introduced LacZ genes were also expressed in female porcine gonad. In addition, we demonstrated efficient gene delivery in gonad of adult mouse. Furthermore, we succeed to generate genetically modified germline cells showing GFP and positive X-gal signals. The results suggest that the newly developed gene delivery is an effcetive way of invivo transfection in mammals. The developed gene delivery procedure should be useful in producing transgenic animals when combined with primary cell culture and nuclear transplantation.
