Membrane for LNG storage tank is one of the significant structural core elements, and plays an important role to improve and ensure the safety of the structure from excessive temperature change. In this study, the membrane structure is considered to evaluate formability in terms of thickness distribution of that part. Furthermore, to predict the thickness distribution and deformation behavior of the membrane, a series of systematic approach by adopting explicit finite element code, ABAQUS, is carried out. As the numerical result of the forming process of the membrane, the first approach shows the double wrinkle can be occurred. To solve this wrinkling occurrence, modification of the forming punch and the die is performed. Then the wrinkling occurrence could be removed, and the thickness distribution is also uniformed by comparing with the first approach.
