The low threshold current and high power selectively inner-channeled laser (SIC LD) was fabricated and estimated by the selective growth using the low-pressure MOCVD (metal organic chemical vapor deposition) method. The minimum threshold currents in the CW (continuous waves) moes of 8.1mA (cavity=250μm) and 12.9mA (cavity=750μm) were achieved with a stabilized fundamental mode. We could obtain the maximum output powers with the uncoated facets of 100mW at pulsed width and 50mW at continuous waves condition in 250μm cavity length. SIC LD is index-guided laser which has new fabrication techniques different from ridge waveguide structure lasers.
해양환경에 사용되는 LED-Heat Sink(ADC12)재료의 도료별 부식특성에 관한 연구

The protective coating of LED lighting plays an important role especially in marine corrosive environment. In this study, the aging and corrosion characteristics of coating were measured by AC impedance method on three samples with coatings of different corrosive resistance. The environmental accelerated test conditions of coating were according to NORSOR M-501 standard. Also the corrosion properties were recorded after each cycle on the samples of a coating with or without UV irradiation. After 5 cycles, the corrosion resistance of the sample was evaluated in the order of PVDF > Powder coatingⅡ > Powder coatingⅠ. The sample irradiated with UV showed the corrosion rate of 10∼30% faster. For the case of powder coatingⅠ&Ⅱ with UV, impedance characteristic decreased to 10<SUP>6</SUP>Ω or less after 5 cycles showing that maintenance is already necessary.
사용자 행동패턴을 고려한 선박 선실의 침상 조명 디자인 및 조명기구 개발에 관한 연구

In this paper, we studied the customized design for LED berth light of ship cabin based on the user’s behavior pattern analysis and lighting environment investigation. We studied the lighting design target, product design, design simulation, preparation of a prototype with a bidirectional radiation luminaire, and then measured and analyzed the lighting characteristics and lighting atmosphere. Upward lighting provides indirect illumination through the reflection to ceiling of the bed for the rest or sleep activities, whereas downward lighting provides enough illumination to the bed plane for the working or reading activities. In addition, illuminance and correlated color temperature (CCT) control was enabled by adopting warm and cool white LEDs with dimming. The prototype had the enhanced performance with α, δ, θ brain wave effect depending on the user’s behavior pattern and the improved berth lighting atmosphere was closely matched to user’s behavior patterns. The prototype was shown the better lighting performance with high flux, reduced glare and increased lighting efficiency compared to the conventional lighting fixtures.
