The turnout system is typical railway facility to be in the way of conventional railway line"s speed - up. The KNR(Korean National Railroad) has a speed limit regulation(130㎞/h) for the passing the turnout to guarantee a safety. This research has been performed to confirm the propriety of this regulation by using experimental and analytical way before it was carried out. The reasonableness of the speed - limit regulation was judged base on the several experiments. It was proved that the regulation was not useless as it had been regarded and very important guide at least up to now.

This study has been performed to develop the practical method to estimate the change of dynamic characteristics of rolling stocks passing on the high speed turnout system. Each part of turnout system are modeled in consideration of alignment, enter angle and amount of deflection and they are used to achieve dynamic analysis with a train model. Analysis results are compared with test results to confirm its validation.

The critical speed of a train running on the straight railway track is investigated by in-house program. The program is developed to find out nonlinear critical speed and it bases on the bifurcation theory. As a result, it is found that nonlinear critical speed exists on the lower speed band than linear critical speed and this fact imply a possibility of induction of a big accident.

Drivers of agricultural tractors are exposed to high levels of vibration for a long period of time because of the nature of their work. Thus, they have a high risk of musculoskeletal disorders such as fatigue accumulation, lumbar spine and neck pain. Various studies have been carried out to reduce ride vibration of agricultural tractors; however, because these studies mainly considered the driving. This study was conducted to evaluate ride vibrations experienced by tractor operators during plowing, rotovating, and transporting operations in Korea. Field data of ride vibrations were analyzed based on ISO 2631-1. The test was carried out at the Tongyangmoolsan R&D Center in Gongju, Chungcheongnam-do, at 3-20 km/h on the asphalt road and at 3 km/h on the field. From the analysis of the results, it follows that ride vibration is highest during rotary work. The magnitude of the vibration during rotary work was 1.62 times larger than the vibration during plow work. Additionally, it was confirmed that the magnitude of ride vibration increases as the tractor driving speed increases.

All work related to maintenance of track has been impletemented on the basis of the measured result from EM series cars in Korea. However, since these types of cars measure only versine value of the track irregularities instead of the real ones, this method will cause the confusion to maintenance operators if commercial speed should increase. This study was showing and explaining the program developed to get the real irregularities from the versine value. Finally, the reconstruction profiles completed by two different methods were compared with artificial track irregularities to confirm the their practicality.
