        The purpose of this paper is to study the rules of the Romanization of the Korean Alphabet and to point out the problems lying in using the revised Korean Romanization System, then to lead to the suggestions to be more internationalized. According to the research of this paper, due to misunderstandings between the Romanization of Korean Alphabet and the Anglicism of Korean Alphabet among the users there exist many problems we discussed until the new system settle down by the suggestions this paper proposes. We've researched the revised writing system in terms of both Korean phonological rules and English phonological rules. At the same time, we analyzed the advantages as well as disadvantages particularly in terms of English syllabification. For the most probable and desirable solution to make the law of the Romanization of the Korean Alphabet more reliable, this paper suggests the new principles, which are predictability, recover-ability, simplicity. These principles make the revised system become coherent and regular, which is important in linguistic theory. That implies the new system is no longer the victim of arguments approaching to ways of the international tool system.

        영어 유창성에 관한 연구: 영어 연수 참가자들의 자기평가와 원어민 진단 평가를 중심으로

        According to the 2008 Revised National English Curriculum, teacher`s proficiency is key element in achieving English teaching goals of the seventh curriculum, based on student`s communicative abilities. Thus the teacher`s intensive in-service program has expanded in trainee numbers as well as supporting budgets since it started. This paper investigates the beliefs of secondary school English teachers who participated in the intensive in-service program about their English ability in terms of four skills, then analyzes their proficiency in the pre-test with their native instructors, and on-going tests with their native advisory instructors, The findings from the teachers is that they have confidence in grammar but believe they have weaknesses in listening and speaking. Half of them believe their English abilities are lower than "good. But the native instructors find that the teachers`` grammatical errors and mispronunciations are relatively minor. The native instructors evaluate the English teachers`` speaking and listening abilities as much higher than "good" in terms of oral proficiency. The paper suggests that the curriculum of the teacher training program should put more focus on accuracy rather than fluency, and should also provide more opportunities to practice speaking through a variety of activities that provide an opportunity for self-correction, to build confidence. Finally they have to change their attitude about their oral proficiency.

        국어 로마자 표기의 사용상 혼란 원인에 관한 고찰

        The purpose of this study is to identify causes for the failure to successfully implement Korean Romanization System since the National Institute of the Korean Language proclaimed the government Revised Romanization System in 2000. In reality, more confusion and inconsistencies have increased with time. The findings of this paper itemize the causes into four categories from general linguistic point of view. The first is that the system has caused confusion among users by regarding Romanization system as an English writing system. The second is that the system requires the users to understand the phonetic forms in which most of the Korean phonological rules are applied. The third is correspondence between Romanized letters and the Korean alphabet, which causes confusion among users in that the Korean alphabet is represented into diversified and complicated Roman letters. The fourth is that no balance is kept in delineating phonetic representations in terms of phonetic and phonemic transcription. To ensure the stable use of Korean Romanization System, it is critical that these four problems be raised. The problems discussed in this paper will be helpful not only to stabilize the system but also for system revision and usage

        소비자 혁신 저항, 사전지식 및 광고유형이 광고태도와 구매의도에 미치는 영향

        본 연구의 목적은 소비자의 혁신 저항성의 정도에 따라 그들의 사전지식 및 광고유형이 혁신제품에 대한 광고태도와 구매의도에 미치는 영향을 논의하였다. 실제로 본 연구를 통해, 수신자로서의 소비자의 특성뿐만 아니라 송신자의 광고유형에 따라 다음과 같은 다양하고 실증적인 광고태도와 구매의도를 보여 주었다. 첫째, 소비자의 혁신저항성 정도와 광고유형 사이에 소비자의 광고태도와 구매의도를 증가시킬 수 있는 최적의 전략에 대해, 혁신저항이 높은 경우 비비교광고가, 혁신저항이 낮은 경우 비교광고가 더 높은 광고태도나 구매의도를 보였으나 통계적인 유의한 차이를 보이지 못했다. 둘째, 사전지식의 정도와 광고유형사이에 광고태도와 구매의도를 측정한 결과, 사전지식이 높은 경우 비교광고가, 사전지식이 낮은 경우 비비교광고가 더 평균적으로 우위에 있는 것으로 나타났다. 광고태도의 경우 광고유형과 사전지식 모두에서, 구매의도는 광고유형에서, 사전지식과 광고유형사이의 상호작용은 두 개의 반응변수에서 통계적으로 유의함을 입증했다. 특히 사전지식의 유형별 수준에서 비교하는 쌍별비교의 검증 결과, 사전지식이 높은 경우 비교와 비비교 사이에 통계적으로 유의한 차이를 보였으며, 사전지식이 낮은 경우 광고유형의 차이에 따른 유의성은 검정되지 못하였다. 또한 사전지식 정도와 광고유형사이에서 구매의도에 대한 상호작용비교(사전지식 높고 낮음 경우에 비교와 비비교의 평균적 차이)도 유의한 차이가 있는 것으로 밝혀졌다. 마지막으로 혁신저항성, 사전지식, 및 광고유형에 따른 혁신제품에 대한 소비자의 광고태도와 구매의도를 묻는 연구에서, 혁신 저항성이 낮은 경우, 광고태도와 구매의도 영향을 주는 사전지식, 광고유형, 및 사전지식과 광고유형사이의 상호작용 모두 통계적으로 유의한 결과를 얻었다. 또한 혁신저항성이 낮고 지식수준이 높은 정도에서 비비교광고 보다 비교 광고가 더 효과적인 광고태도와 구매의도를 형성했다. This study was to be designed to provide insights regarding the effects of innovation resistance(IR), prior knowledge(PK), and advertising appeal(ADA) on attitude toward advertising (ATA) and purchase intention(PI). Firstly, we examined attitude toward ATA and PI in two methods of ADA (i.e., comparative and non-comparative advertising) on the level of consumers' innovation resistance. There were no significant differences between ADAs for high IR and low IR separately. Secondly, we found that both the PK main effect and the ADA main effect are significant and the interaction between PK and AA is significant. Finally, there was a significant interaction effect between IR, PK and ADA on ATA and PI and represented a difference in menas between comparative ad and non-comparative ad for high PK minus a difference in means between comparative ad and non-comparative ad for low PK while being low IR. And the practical as well as theoretical implications were also discussed.

        Relationships between the Attitude toward Video Games and Use of the Video Game Rating System in Global Markets

        As video games gain popularity and become a normal part of home entertainment, concern about youth access to inappropriate games continues to grow. Some people have claimed that violent video games influence children’s aggressive behavior and that violent video games have some responsibility for violence in the school. In response to people’s concerns, the video game industry created a video game rating system in 1995 to help parents decide which video games are appropriate for their children. This study investigated whether parents were aware of the video game rating system and how often they have used it when selecting video games for their children. This study attempted to find relationships among parents’ attitudes toward video games, their guidance styles for their children’s video game play, and their use of the video game rating system. This study found that most parents have used the video game ratings very frequently when they select video games for their children. But many parents still don’t understand the video game rating system. This study showed that parents who had more negative attitudes or less positive attitudes toward video games were more likely to impose restrictions on their children’s video game play and to use the video game rating system as a means to restrict their children’s access to violent video games.
