        Distribution of Parvalbumin-Immunoreactive Retinal Ganglion Cells in the Greater Horseshoe Bat, Rhinolophus ferrumequinum

        파브알부민(pa π albumin)은 망막의 다양한 세포타입에서 분포하고 있다. 본 연구팀은 이전연구에서 박쥐 망막의 내핵층에서의 파브알부민의 분포를 보고하였다. 현재 연구에서 본 연구팀은 한국관박쥐 (Rhinolophus ferrumequinum) 망막의 신경절세포층에 존재하는 파브알부민을 함유하는 신경세포를 규명하였고, 이들 세포의 분포양상을 조사하였다. 실험 결과,파브알부민의 면역반응성은 신경절세포층의 다수 세포에서 발견되었으며, 이들 세포는 주로 중간형 이상 크기의 세포체를 가지고 있었다. 조사된 세포체의 직경은 12.35 - 19.12 ${\mu}m$ 의 범위를 가지며 (n=166), 신경섬유층의 섬유 역시 염색되는 것으로 보아, 파브알부민을 함유하는 신경절세포는 대부분이 중간형이상 크기의 신경절세포임을 뒷받침하고 있다. NND (nearest neighbor distance) 분석을 통해서 본, 평균 NND는 59.57 에서 62.45 ${\mu}m$ 로 나타났으며, 평균 RI (regularity index) 는 2.95 ${\pm}$ 0.3 (mean${\pm}$s.d., n=4) 으로 계산되었다. 이를 종합해보면, 파브알부민은 한국관박쥐 망막의 신경절세포층에서 중간형이상 크기의 신경절세포에서 주로 발현하고 있으며, 이들은 규칙적인 배열을 가진 채 잘 조직화된 분포양상을 보여주고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 이러한 결과들은, 아직까지 명확하게 규명되어 있지 못한 박쥐의 시각에 대한 이해에 중요하게 적용될 수 있을 것이라고 사료된다. Parvalbumin occurs in various types of cells in the retina. We previously reported parvalbumin distribution in the inner nuclear layer of bat retina. In the present study, we identified the parvalbumin-immunoreactive neurons in the ganglion cell layer of the retina of a bat, Rhinolophus ferrumequinum, and investigated the distribution pattern of the labeled neurons. Parvalbumin immunoreactivity was found in numerous cell bodies in the ganglion cell layer. Quantitative analysis showed that these cells had medium to large-sized somas. The soma diameter of the parvalbumin-immunoreactive cells in the ganglion cell layer ranged from 12.35 to 19.12 ${\mu}m$ (n=166). As the fibers in the nerve fiber layer were also stained, the majority of parvalbumin-immunoreactive cells in the ganglion cell layer should be medium to large-sized retinal ganglion cells. The mean nearest neighbor distance of the parvalbumin-immunoreactive cells in the ganglion cell layer of the bat retina ranged from 59.57 to 62.45 ${\mu}m$ and the average regularity index was 2.95 ${\pm}$ 0.3 (n=4). The present results demonstrate that parvalbu-min is expressed in medium to large-sized retinal ganglion cells in bat retina, and they have a well-or-ganized distributional pattern with regular mosaics. These results should be important as they are applicable to a better understanding of the unsolved issue of a bat vision. This data will help to provide fundamental knowledge for the better understanding of the unique behavioral aspects of bat flight maneuverability.

        Calretinin-Immunoreactive Amacrine Cells and Ganglion Cells in the Greater Horseshoe Bat, Rhinolophus ferrumequinum

        Calretinin의 생리적 역할은 아직 확립되지 않았지만, 칼슘 buffer로서의 작용과 칼슘 중재의 신호 변환에 적극적으로 작용하고 있다. Calretinin은 인간의 망막에서 성체 광수용체 세포와 이극세포, 수평세포에서 칼슘의 수송과 칼슘의 생리적 buffering으로서의 역할을 하고 있다. 본 연구에서 한국관 박쥐의 망막의 내핵층과 신경절세포층에서 calretinin의 면역세포화학반응 신경세포들과 그 분포 양상을 조사하여 우리는 박쥐 망막에서 calretinin에 면역세포화학반응을 일으키는 AII 무축삭세포를 내핵층에서 그리고 신경절세포층에서는 신경절세포들을 확인할 수 있었다. 이번의 관찰연구는 우리의 이전 연구와 더불어 박쥐 시력의 풀리지 않는 문제와 박쥐비행의 기동성의 독특한 행동적인 측면들을 더욱 많이 이해하는데 필요하다고 생각한다. Although the physiological roles of calretinin have not been established, it may simply work as a calcium buffer or may actively work in calcium-mediated signal transduction. Calretinin plays a little role in the transport and physiological buffering of calcium in the adult photoreceptor cells, bipolar cells and horizontal cells of the human retina. We identified the calretinin-immunoreactive neurons in the inner nuclear cell layer and ganglion cell layer and the distribution pattern of the labeled neurons in the retina of a bat, Rhinolophus ferrumequinum, in this study. We observed the existence of calretinin-immunoreactive AII amacrine cell in the inner nuclear layer and ganglion cells in the ganglion cell layer of bat retina through this study. This observation must be significant along with our previous studies as we need to study for more understanding about the unsolved issue of a bat vision and the unique behavioral aspects of bat flight maneuverability.

        초대형 부유식 해상공항의 파도에 의한 진동응답특성 해석

        The vibration due to progressive ocean waves is analyzed for a typical footing-type offshore airport platform. The platform is modelled as a spring-supported Euler beam and buoyancy change due to wave is considered as excitation force, under the assumption that the wave propagates without distortion by the structure. The results show that the natural frequencies of this structure are distributed very closely and are little affected by boundary conditions and that the response charateristics due to ocean waves are quite different according to the wave frequency. In this study, the wave frequencies are divided into three regions; the resonance region at which the response is governed by the resonance between the natural mode at the wave frequency and the corresponding modal component of the wave excitation force, the bending governed region at which the response is governed by the bending stiffness, and the spring(buoyancy) governed region at which the response is governed by the spring constant and therefore is same as the incident wave form.

        Yangyang Hydro Power Plant is equipped with the two-stage hydraulic turbine in huge capacity in the first time in Korea. It is different from any other hydraulic power plants in that two turbines are installed in just one shaft. While we are operating hydraulic turbine since the construction of our plant, we find broken bolts on thrust bearing pad, which causes much trouble in succeeding operation. But by adopting sequence change, we could solve a and maintenance time, placing confidence in quality. Therefore, this paper provides a solution that the radial force applied to the pad is equal to the vertical load applied on each pad time friction coefficient. Under the worsening condition the difference of temperature in operation and stand still condition which can reach 50C, The thrust runner block contraction is about 1.2mm on diameter, so, The injection system will be kept in operation, or put in operation few minutes with a quarter hour interval up to complete cooling of the thrust bearing.

        It was investigated the variation of polarization by the double refraction of light for a calcite crystal. In a calcite there is a single direction called the optics axis, which is an axis of symmetry with respect to both the crystal form and the arrangement of atoms. For a point in calcite, there are three principal sections, one for each pair of opposite crystal faces. A principal section always cuts the surfaces of a calcite crystal in a parallelogram withe angles of 71˚ and 109˚. When a beam of plane-polrized light is directed along the optic axis of calcite crystal, the plane of polarization turns steadily about the direction of the beam and emerges vibrating in some other plane than that at which it entered. The law of Malus is ralationship how the intensity transmitted by the analyzer varies with the angle that its plane of transmission makes with that of the polarizer. The pane polarization, θ was obtained from the law of Malus was 20.2˚
