In large power system, design margin makes relatively price higher. So, optimal design through exact analysis of thermal behavior is needed. In this paper, we propose the equivalent load test facility using two inverter & converter system and inductors. Applying actual electrical profiles for motor drive, thermal characteristics of power converter fed AC motor drive are obtained, and the results are compared with simulation results.

To enhance the machinability of the austenite stainless alloys, Mn and S were added to form MnS in the austenite matrix. Recently, Ca is also added to increase machinability. The alloying elements, such as C, Mn, S, Ca, and Al, are known to affect machinability, but those roles are not well understood. In this study, the ingots, controlled of alloying elements, C, Mn, S, Ca, Al, were prepared in the 304 stainless steel. The relationship between microstructure and machinability was compared to understand the role of alloying elements. It was proved that Mn and S enhanced machinability but C reduced it by analyzing cutting force on machining in the lathe. The alloying elements, Ca and Al, made a complex oxide compound of Mn-S-Ca-Al-Si-O, which results in increasing tool life. The ferrite volume fraction was changed with alloying elements and the effect of the ferrite fraction on machining was also discussed.

A vector control method is applied to an induction motor controller for an elevator drive system. Conventional control methods to keep the secondary magnetic flux constant have a problem to decrease efficiency of an induction motor at balanced load torque regions generated frequently in operating modes of elevator. Thus energy saving control method is suitable to improve the efficiency of an induction motor at balanced load torque regions by controlling ratio of secondary magnetic flux to torque as to minimize input power of an induction motor at a given motor torque even transient states. We analyzed the effect of the flux variance in the elevator drive, and we propose the suitable controller, The effects of the energy saving were verified m the actual elevator system drive.
