        The textile industry have made a lot of contribution to Korea's economic development. Of course it has an important position in field of products, employments and profits, not to speak of export of Korea. However, the trade protectionism of developed eontries and the strong challenge of the developing contries now threaten the continuous development of Korea's economy, so that the reasonable development of each part in textile industry can not be carried out. That is, while the parts of up stream have now the international competitive power with other contries, the parts of down stream are now on small scale and weak in terms of technology. Bearing these facts in mind, we analyzed the duties of junior college graduates employed in the dyeing and finishing processes now in down stream, in textile factories, and then accepted the advice by managers of concerned fields. In, reference of our investigations, we suggest the fundamental attitude as the followings, attempting to improve the experimental education of the department of textile engineering in junior college of technology. 1) When it is considered that the textile industry covers a wide range of industry and that the educational period, two years, of junior college is too short, it is desirable that in junior college, experimental education should be deepened and strictly specified with much practice. It is also desired that the education of the department of textile engineering should be divided into two parts, spinning and weaving course, and dyeing and finishing course, when we take into consideration the distribution of the textile factories in Taegu, Kyung Took area, and the future employment of graduates. 2) At their factories, the workers graduated from the department of textile engineering in junior college of technology should cover from the work of skilled hand to that of technician. Under such a circumstance they should have not only a lot of knowledge about basic experiment but the ability to promptly adapt to new situations. In fact, our investigations show that almost all of managers of concerned fields demand the reinforce of basic experimental education at the department of textile engineering in junior college of technology.

      • Viscose Rayon 織物의 耐알칼리性에 關한 硏究

        During weight reduce finishing of the combined weaves of polyester and viscose rayon, there are series of bottlenecks due to decreasing the strength of the viscose rayon. So the factaries of dyeing and finishing have been undergone many trials. The stability to alkali of viscose rayon and bemberg fabrics are investigated, and in order to estabilishing the. accidental preventive measure of this combined weaves, the rate of weight loss, tensile strength, bending property, etc. of alkali treated samples are studied.

      • 플라즈마 처리로써 개질한 PET 필름의 부착일

        The aim of this study is to modify the surface of poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET) films by using low temperature plasma of starting materials such as hexafluorobenzene(HFB), 1,1,1,5,5,5-hexafluoro-2,4-pentanedione(HFPD), hexafluoroglutaric anhydride(HFGA), hexafluoroacetone trihydrate (HFATH), acrylic acid(AA), and acrylonitrile(AN). Plasma system made for this study was used in modifing PET films. PET films were treated by plasma and contact angles of modified film were measured according to Busscher method, and also the work of adhesion worked out as Young-Dupre' equation. The results were as follows. The effect of plasma treatment on the work of adhesion of PET films depend upon the kinds of the starting material, PET films treated by HFB, HFPD, and HFGA plasma were appeared relatively lower the work of adhesion than the untreated its, while PE-I' films treated by HFATH and AA plasma are showed higher than untreated its. But the PET film treated by AN plasma has been had the same work of adhesion of the untreated it. And the liquid group proposed by Busscher are not suitable to the assess in the high work of adhesion according to the Young-Dupre' equation.

      • 스판덱스 혼편물의 염색견뢰도 향상기술

        This study report an enhanced technology based on raschel lace for improving the colorfastness to washing depends on the various dyeing processes, dyes, and auxiliaries. The main results are summarized as following. In order to achieve high level of dye exhaustion on the raschel lace, the early stage of dye exhaustion temperature should be slowly elevated at 1.5℃/min.. Also, we propose adequate dyeing process for achieving level dyeing. The five series of mixed auxiliaries show excellent colorfastness to washing. The acid dye groups(1~3 groups listed in the table 1.) which has good leveling property and rapid adsorption rate show poor colorfastness to washing but some of acid dye group 4 and 6 show excellent colorfastness to washing in the application of mixed auxiliaries. Dye content Y was related to auxiliaries content X according to following equation; Y=0.265~1.06X.

      • 저온플라즈마 방진처리에 의한 Poly(ethylene Terephthalate)의 친수화가공

        Poly(ethylene Terephthalate) (PET) fabrics and films were plasma etched with the view to do a basic research to increase the wettability under various conditions in the presence of oxygen gas. The wettability of the etched PET fabrics and films was measured by using Wicking Velocity Apparatus and Contact Angle Meter respectively. The results obtained from this study were as follows : 1) The etching ratios of the PET fabrics and films showed an increasing tendency with time, and the temperature on PET fabrics played an accelerating role under 3 Tore The etched PET fabrics gave nearly 4 times higher etching ratios than the etched films. 2) It was showed that the etching rate is more dependent on the gas pressure than on the discharge output under this experimental conditions. 3) The wicking velocity of the etched PET fabrics was increased by more than 2 times compared with that of the unetched one. 4) The decrease of contact angle to water of the etched PET films occurred in a very short time of etching. 5) From these results we conclude that the wettability effect of plasma etching results from the process of introducing -OH group at the surface of PET fabrics and films.

      • PET 强撚糸織物의 減量加工

        Nowadays the alkali treatment of PET georgette fabric has already become a common one in domestic company. On the basis of the such current, I had investigated and studied the present conditions and problems on the alkali treatment of PET georgette fabric in person. As the result of unbalance in export-profit by the evaluation of Korean monetary unit, though managers have much difficulty in production, they have the tendency to replace the tank alkali treatment with the continuous alkali treatment in order to reduce the cost of productions in the minimum. Apart from the working process, they try to make the quality of article higher and the kind of article more various than ever before. However, we have a few sorts of yarn and so can not attain the excellent effect. It is very possible that we are able to avoid the uneven degradation and the scum in dyeing speck by way of workers' careful operations. Besides, we can amend the oligomer, reason of dyeing speck, in virtue of continuous and serious trying at both dyeing plant and yarn maker. Above all, to achieve our attainment, we should make more researches into the such field.

      • 알칼리 處理한 PET 필름의 末端 카르복실기 數의 정량 및 흡습성변화

        The hydrolysis reaction of PET film with ethylene glycolic and aqueous caustic soda solutions was studied with a view to investigating hydrophilicity and content of carboxyl end groups. Effect of reaction parameters such as treatment time, concentration of alkali and temperature on the extent of hydrolysis is examined and the modified films are evaluated for their properties. Weight loss increases linearly with treatment time and nonlinearly with alkali concentration and ethylene glycol(EG) concentration. By alkaline hydrolysis, surface hydrophilicity was improved which was assumed to be hydrophilic characteristics of sodium carboxylate on the end of PET molecular chains. The number of carboxyl group increased by this reaction.

      • Ethylene Glycol이 Poly(ethylene Terephthalate) 織物의 알칼리 處理加工에 미치는 影響 (Ⅱ) : 處理時의 物性에 關하여 As pertains to characteristics of degraded fabrics

        It was common practice that poly(ethylene terephthalate)(PET) fabric was treated with alkali to improve its silk like handle. PET fabrics degraded from 10 to 70 percent of weight loss in ethylene glycolic and aqueous caustic soda solution were tested in order to investigate the effects of ethylene glycol(EG), which was produced during the hydrolysis of PET by alkali. The following observations were made; 1) The smooth surface of untreated PET fibers became increasingly pitted as the alkali treatment proceeded and dissolved from surface gradually. 2) The tensile strength of alkali treated filament decreased rapidly with increasing weight loss and there was no difference between PET filament treated in ethylene glycolic and aqueous caustic soda solutions. 3) The density and crystallinity of treated fabrics increased with increasing weight loss, the increase being more prominent in ethylene glycolic than in aqueous caustic soda solutions. 4) PET was increased in volume in ethylene glycol three times more than in water under the same conditions. 5) More moisture regain was noted in PET fabrics treated in ethylene glycolic caustic. soda solution for higher crystallinity.

      • Ethylene glycol이 polyethylene terephthalate 織物의 alkali 處理加工에 미치는 影響 (Ⅰ) : 加水分解 速度常數에 關하여 As pertains to rate constant of hydrolysis

        It was studied that the effect of the ethylene glycol, by-products produced during alkali treatment of the polyethylene terephthalate fiber, on the hydrolysis. Fixing NaOH concentrations at 1%, 3% and 5%, we changed ethylene glycol contents of the solution from 0% (water 100%) to 25%, 50%, 75% and 100% respectively and then treated with alkali according to various temperature. Reaction rate constants were calculated from KURIYAMA equation and the following results were obtained. 1. There is a linear relationship between the alkali concentration and rate constant. 2. Temperature and ethylene glycol have an exponential relationship with the rate constant and ethylene glycol is assumed to act as a swelling agent. 3. Rate constant of NaOH soluction isn the presence of the ethylene glycol 7 to 10 times of that without the ethylene glycol and the less the concentration of NaOh and the temperature and, the more the difference is. 4. Activation energy is about 20 Kcal/mol and tends to decrease a little with increaments of ethylene glycol contents.

      • PET 직물의 plasma 중합에 의한 농색효과 (Ⅱ) : AA의 기상중합 Vapor Phase Polymerization of AA

        Poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET) fabrics were polymerized with acrylic acid(AA) monomer in vapor phase by the use of low temperature plasma system and then, bathocromic effect was examined. In addition, several properties including penetration property to water drop of polymerized samples were examined. The results obtained from this study were as follows; 1. Bathocromic effect was improved in proportion to the reactor pressure, discharge output, and vapor phase polymerized time. 2. The polymers were made similar to scale of wool by vapor phase polymerization with AA monomer. 3. The air permeability and the penetration time were increased but the wicking property of vapor phase polymerized samples was not changed.
