An experimental study on the performance and instability development characteristics of a centrifugal compressor equipped with an adjustable inlet guide vane has been performed with varying guide vane angles. The test was conducted at the design speed of 20,800 rpm for 6 guide vane angles : $-30^{\circ},\;-20^{\circ},\;10^{\circ},\;0^{\circ},\;10^{\circ},\;20^{\circ},\;30^{\circ}$. Unsteady pressures were measured using high-frequency pressure transducers at the inducer to investigate the instability phenomena such as rotating stall and surge inside the compressor. From the unsteady measurements, it is found that the transient process from rotating stall to surge was mainly affected by inlet guide vane angles. The results of the present study can be applied to the instability control of the centrifugal compressors using a adjustable inlet guide vane.

The turbine efficiency is an important factor in power plant, and accurate evaluation of steam turbine performance is the key issue in turbo machinery industry. The difficulty of evaluating the steam turbine performance due to its high steam temperature and pressure environment makes the most steam turbine tests to be replaced by air similarity test. This paper presents how to decide the similarity conditions of the steam turbine test and describes its limitations and assumptions. The test facility was developed and arranged to conduct an air similarity turbine performance test with various inlet pressure, temperature and mass flow rate. The eddy-current type dynamometer measures the turbine-generated shaft power and controls the rotating speed. Pressure ratio of turbine can be controled by back pressure control valve. To verify its test results, uncertainty analysis was performed and relative uncertainty of turbine efficiency was obtained.

수소 연료의 사용은 주어진 연료 중량에 대하여 항공기에 탑재 가능한 에너지의 양을 증가시킬 수 있다. 또한, 고고도 장기체공 무인기의 수소왕복엔진은 정찰/감시와 통신 중계에 필요한 임무장비 탑재가 가능한 정도의 비출력을 제공할 수 있다. 이러한 이유들 때문에 최근 수소왕복엔진을 사용하는 고고도 장기체공 무인기들이 개발되고 있다. 수소왕복엔진 추진 시스템은 수소왕복엔진, 다단 터보차저, 열교환기, 수소저장 및 공급시스템으로 구성된다. 본 논문에서는 수소왕복엔진 고고도 장기체공 무인기 개발 동향에 대하여 기술하였다. Uses of the hydrogen fuel increase the amount of energy that can be stored in aircraft for a given fuel mass. Hydrogen reciprocating engine of the high altitude long endurance(HALE) UAV can supply sufficient specific power to carry a payload for surveillance and communications relay mission. For these reasons, HALE UAVs using a hydrogen reciprocating engine system have been developed. The hydrogen reciprocating engine propulsion system consists of a hydrogen reciprocating engine, a multistage turbocharger, heat exchangers, and hydrogen storage and supply systems. This paper describes a review of research and development trends of the HALE UAV using hydrogen reciprocating engines.
