Although hospitals have been known as buildings which consume a lot of energies, the domestic research concerned with this has not been reported to our knowledge. Therefore this study was performed to investigate the energy consumption and characteristics in hospital building. Simulation model was developed by the detailed building energy software, DOE-2 and the validity was verified through the daily measured date. It was found from results that the hospital spent an average of 340 Mcal per square meters annually. And the hot water represented about 40 percent of total energy use, and fan power and heating/cooling energy were next order.

We devised a module to extract the variables required for energy analysis from IFC files and developed a software program to gather meteorological data, material properties and management schedule so as to calculate the annual energy requirement and consumption of a building in order to predict its energy efficiency rating. The purpose of the paper is to compare web-based interface module for energy analysis(WebGBS) in the schematic design stage, using Industry Foundation Classes(IFC) with building energy efficiency rating evaluation program(ECO2). The results of analysis through comparison with ECO2 shows that a similar result can be obtained within an error range of ± 5%. Further research is required concerning IFC conversion of diverse BIM programs, errors in extraction of configuration information, and ensuing versions of IFC.

Status of BIM adoption in Korea have increased significantly in most areas such as architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, and architectural plans since 2010. To comply with sustainable BIM and energy promotion policy, This research is conducted to develop Web-based program which is able to predict Building energy efficiency rating with dynamic energy analysis in early design phase that uses IFC, the standard BIM format. For this reason, IFC energy analysis guideline is developed and Shape information extraction module is developed from IFC file and DB file such as weather data, material properties and building operation schedule and module that able to produce IDF file format which is input format for EnergyPlus with input data on the web is developed. Through this simulation result, web-based energy analysis prototype which is able to predict Building energy efficiency rating is developed.
