Competition between air transportation and railways has grown fiercer in major countries around the world with the rise of high-speed railways. In South Korea, air passenger travel has been rapidly decreasing since the initial launch of the Seoul-Pusan KTX line in 2004 and second opening that followed in 2010. Further expansion of the high-speed railway is expected. At present, research efforts to verify the validity of constructing an underwater express railway tunnel between Ho-nam and Jeju Island are taking place. Considering the possible high speed railway connection between Seoul and Jeju Island, this thesis has analyzed the choice behavior of existing passengers of the major and low-cost carriers. For this, Stated Preference (SP) research has been performed for three variables, including fare, travel time and the number of runs, to estimate the substitution rate of each of the three variables. Binomial Logit Model has been estimated with the obtained data. The estimation of the model has found that airline passengers of major and low-cost carriers are willing to pay approximately 7,200 KRW and 5,000 KRW, respectively, to reduce travel time by one hour. If the number of runs in one day increases, it has been estimated that the passengers are willing to pay additional fares of about 390 KRW and 30 KRW, respectively. On the other hand, the substitution rate between the number of runs and the travel time was found to be somewhat insignificant. If the construction of the Seoul-Jeju line progresses in the future, this study could be used as preliminary data for determining fares, travel time and the number of runs.

As the number of primary reconstructions of the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) increase, so do the number of revision ACL reconstructions due to failure. Revision ACL reconstruction has several challenges compared to primary ACL reconstruction. Literature review regarding revision ACL reconstruction was performed to discuss the cause of the failure, results of revision, and to assist the decision-making process and approaches to the patients. Usually good functional stability could be obtained after revision ACL reconstruction, but increased incidence of meniscal and cartilage lesions played a role in patient dissatisfaction. To solve issues such as tunnel widening, malposition, and inserted hardware after primary ACL reconstruction, various surgical technique issues were reviewed.

To enhance the accuracy of the engine combustion analysis in a Diesel engine the understanding of the injection characteristics is very important In this study, the l-D hydraulic Simulation code of HYDSIM was applied to investigate the injection rate, timing and duration In the Common. Rail high pressure injector, and the analyzed injection quantity was compared with that of experiment for the model validation With the results as initial boundary conditions the mixture formation, combustion and pollutants formation processes were predicted in a combustion chamber of HSDI engine. The analyzed cylinder pressure were compared with the experimental data for verifying the analysis The combustion processes and pollutant formations are analyzed, and BSFC is predicted. The results agree well with the experimental data.<br/>

To develop the combustion system in a HSDI diesel engine, optimization analysis was applied. The analysis has 3 steps. The 1^(st) step is spray characteristics analysis through the common rail injector modeling with HYDSIM. The 2^(nd) step is 3-D combustion analysis and verification for the base operating condition with KIVA-3V. The 3^(rd) step is optimization procedure with KIVA-3V and ISIGHT. Above all, the optimization procedure also consists of 3 steps. The 1^(st) step is DOE(Design of Experiment), The 2^(nd) step is Approximation(Neural Network), and the 3^(rd) step is optimization(Genetic Algorithm). All of these procedures were very effective and all results agreed well with the experimental data. Through all of these procedure, optimized combustion system in a HSDI diesel engine reducing emissions(NOx, Soot) simultaneously without penalty of fuel consumption(BSFC) could be evaluated.

The 1<SUP>st</SUP> step is spray characteristic analysis through the common rail injector modeling with HYDSIM. To optimize combustion chamber geometry a morphing method to vary the combustion bowl configuration was developed and applied to the in-cylinder 3D combustion analysis in a diesel engine. The optimization analysis procedure consists of 3 steps. The first step is the verification of the combustion analysis for the base engine using KIVA-3V code. The 2nd step is combustion bowl design and modeling by the developed morphing method. In this study 75 cases of combustion bowl shape were considered. In the final step, the combustion analysis for the full and part load engine operating conditions was carried out. By definition of the object function to reduce emission and BSFC, and to enhance engine power, the optimum combustion chamber geometry was successfully achieved.

To optimize combustion chamber geometry in a passenger car diesel engine the in-cylinder 30 combustion analysis using the KIVA-3V and DFSS process were applied. The combustion analysis for the base engine was verified comparing the combustion pressure and heat release rate with the experimental data. The DFSS method was applied to minimize the emission of NOx and Soot defining the primary design parameters for the combustion chamber geometry and choosing the intake air temperature as the noise parameter. The optimized combustion chamber geometry was successfully achieved using the internally developed morphing technique for the chamber geometry and the LIS orthogonal matrix. The analytical results show the decrease of NOx and Soot emission by about 20% compared to the base combustion chamber. They were also confirmed by comparing with the experimental data.

N/A We report a case of extraluminal leiomyosarcoma of inferior vena cave(IVC) in a 56 year old woman. She was admitted to our hospital because of right lower quadrant discomfort for a month. Radiologic finding including ultrasonography, computerized tomography, magnetic resonance imaging showed heterogenous solid mass adhering to IVC and the confirmative diagnosis was made by ultrasonography guided percutaneous needle biopsy. She underwent radical resection surgery. No adjuvant treatment was performed and she has been in the follow up without recurrence of the disease.(Korean J Med 58:681-685, 2000)
