  Ornaments to decorate hairs, which women in Joseon Dynasty used, reflect the outlook on life of people who lived at that time. the Confucianism-oriented ideology was expressed in various forms, which had people consider even a hair very precious as an expression of filial devotion and respect of courtesy. Using the ornaments for hairs at that time is deemed to be a means to show off the wealth and status, as well as a medium of aesthetic expression, because such ornaments were available only to the wealthy.<BR>  hairpin, slant hairpin, back-hair hairpin and others which women of Josen Dynastry used to decorate hairs are characterized not only by their practical features but also their rich ornamentality. Ornamental elements added to ceremonial decoration of hair began to get seriously luxurious from the mid Joseon Dynasty, and the ban ona wig for women (in a ceremonial occasion) were imposed by King Yong Jo. It is said that the cost spent on a big pompadour and ornaments was so expensive that people might be bankrupt.<BR>  With the ban on a wig for women (in a ceremonial occasion), hairpin came to replace it. Women living in royal court or noble women used ornamental hairpin on the front area of knotted hairs depending on ranks(ladies of court and ladies out of court). Gold or silver ornamental hairpins printed with the patterns of Phoenix, which symbolized the loyal court, were used by queen, princess and wives of high-ranking officials of royal court used the ornamental hairpin plated with the patterns of frog. Wives of relatively lower-ranking officials used the ornamental hairpin plated with the pattern of only head and tail of frog, and court ladies used the silver ornamental hairpin with patterns of frog. Women other than those used only the hairpin for their knotted hairs.<BR>  Hairpin was decorated with various patterns made from gold, silver and other precious metals depending on the seasons. Hairpin for back hairs which had the patterns of plants and vegetations was used by women living in royal court, noble people and ordinary people, depending on the rank of people according to the material or shape. Like this, ornaments for hairs that women of Joseon Dynasty used were crafted for aesthetic purpose outwardly, whereas it symbolized the wealth and status externally and had a strong and distinct implication for distinguishing the class of hierarchical society.

매직 스트레이트 펌(Perm)과 일반 스트레이트 펌에 의한 모발손상 연구

  Curled hair easily back to original state even after treatment of strait permanent. Curled hair is thick, rough, and swell giving no neat impression to people. For this reason, people of congenital curved hair want floppy strait hair(lively hair). And it has been popular for the people to keep lively hair as natural from the late 1990s. Curled hair can"t get satisfactory result by general strait perm. For this reason, special strait perm. technique was developed to correct this curled hair almost permanently. This technique is called magic strait perm., which can maintain lively hair permanently if treated once and partial treatment of growing hair. But there is a problem of damaging hair by this method after the treatment. Magic strait perm. technique is a permanent method to correct the curled hair by evacuating the air in the curled hair and let the hair strait by the spreading the protein contained in the curled hair theoretically. The treatment of magic perm. is done by first hair clinic, wash with warm water to dry, and treat the treatment liquid and heat it. You can strait the hair by iron after wash it with warm water. The successful treatment is proved by soft treatment in this process. Though depending on the hair state, healthy hair is treated under the iron temperature of 140~160℃ that might occur serious hair damage. The observed hair condition by the electronic microscope showed far more damage for magic strait perm. than general strait perm. in this experiment. The reason of this serious damage is caused by strong alkali medicine and hot iron heat in case of magic strait perm. comparing to the general strait perm. which comb the hair after treatment of alkali medicine to put it on the panel. So, the degree of damaged hair is increasingly rated by the satisfaction of the treated hair.<BR>  To control the damage of the hair after the magic perm. treatment, you should avoid strong alkali shampoo but use weak acid shampoo and nutrition products. And it is recommended to treat at least 2~3 time/week and to use thick comb. Also, you should not take a home perm., dyeing, decolor, or coating to prevent previous curled hair and to maintain effective maintenance of strait hair long time.

We can know that the feminine interest in beauty has not changed in any epoch. Even in the past, the women continuously looked for the beauty and challenged to be changed in the other image. This fact could be found in the course of change of feminine hair style. The hair style representing the 1920 is shortcut(bob) hair. From 1930, permanent was extended that the permanent-waved hair style was in fashion. In the beginning of 1940, entering the end of Japanese government time, the claim of the perm was high, because it was thought the corrupted foreign tendency, In 1950, the beauty shop becomes popular. Also, as the movie was extended that the hair style of the foreign actress caused a sensation. In 1960, several hair styles of women, accompanied with the industrialization, was looked for. In 1970, the movement of women’s right becomes active and many questions from women were presented on the traditional role of sex. In 1980, it was the epoch in which the irregular perm style becomes popular with the front hair excessively inflated as reflected the social insecurity with the oil shock. In 1990, the long tick perm or straight hair become popular, and the vary color of hair among the young people. Vary color of hair dyeing is performing even today.

C57BL/6 마우스에서 라벤더 오일이 모발성장 관련 효소활성과 싸이토카인 발현에 미치는 효과

The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of lavender oil (LO) on hair growth-relevant enzyme activity and cytokine expression in C57BL/6 mice. The experimental animals were divided into the following groups: i) normal (N: saline), ii) vehicle control (VC: jojoba oil), iii) positive control (PC: 3% minoxidil), iv) experimental 1 (E1: 3% LO), and v) experimental 2 (E2: 5% LO). Test compound solutions were topically applied to the backs of the mice (100 μL per application), once per day, 5 times a week, for 4 weeks. At week 4, the activities of γ-glutamyl transpeptidase (GT) in the E1 and E2 groups were 11% and 15% higher than the N group (p<0.05), respectively. The expression levels of keratinocyte growth factor (KGF) mRNA were significantly greater [10%; (p<0.05)] in the E1 and E2 groups, compared to the N group. The expression of insulin-like growth factor (IGF)-1 mRNA also significantly increased by 21% and 22% (p<0.05) in the E1 and E2 groups, compared to the N group, respectively. Hepatocyte growth factor (HGF) mRNA expression levels were significantly higher in the E1 and E2 groups than the N group [14% and 17%; (p<0.05)], respectively. The expression of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) mRNA increased by 22% (p<0.05) in both the E1 and E2 groups, when compared to the N group. The correlation coefficients among hair growth-relevant factors were significantly high each other (p<0.001). The correlation coefficient between hair growth area and KGF mRNA expression was 0.940. These results confirm that LO has hair growth-promoting effects as identified by hair growth-relevant enzyme activity and cytokine expression in C57BL/6 mice.

열기구(아이론, 드라이어) 사용에 의한 모발의 손상 연구

  The aim of this thesis is to find out the degree of human hair damage caused by using heating tools(eg. Iron or Dryer) or dye treatment as a cause of hair damage and to seek skills to minimize the damages.<BR>  The result of the captured images of each hairs using electro-microscope for normal hair, dyed hair, iron treated hair after dye, and dryer treated hair after dye is described as follows.<BR>  The cuticle layers of a normal hair maintained most of stable surface greasy and skin of the inner layer showed dense fibers in the cell.<BR>  The dye treated hair showed two or three cracks on the cuticle layer because of chemical impact but still showed similarly healthy natural hair.<BR>  In case of one month dryer treated hair after dye showed some bounced surface in the scale layer, irregular cuticle layer, and most of the center part of the hair cuticle was seriously damaged by erosion after two or three month.<BR>  The iron treated hair for one month after dye showed bounced and torn surface and more departed particle than dryer treated hair. More over, the iron treated hair for two month even showed small holes in the cuticle layer. The observation of these hairs cut in length revealed devastation of nutrition and serious polyporous elements.<BR>  Most people don"t think of the serious damages of hairs because they don"t feel any ache. These damaged hairs are not recovered to normal healthy state and they should manage the hairs supplying nutrition from outside to prevent further damage progression.<BR>  In case of using heating tools such as dryer or iron, the hair damages by heat can be prevented by soft treatment, lower heat, and using heat preventive treatment for the hair.

가상공간을 이용한 갤러리 어플리케이션

본 논문에서는 가상공간을 활용하여 자신의 작품을 제작 · 전시할 수 있는 갤러리 어플리케이션을 제안한다. 갤러리 애플리케이션은 가상공간 영역, 컨텐츠창작 영역, 서버 영역, 서비스 제공 영역으로 나누어지며, 가상공간 영역은 가상공간 내에서 타인과 소통하고 타인의 공간을 감상할 수 있다. 컨텐츠 창작 영역은 직접 개인 갤러리공간을 꾸밀 수 있는 기능이다. 서버영역은 사용자들의 정보와 개인공간의 정보를 데이터베이스에 저장한다. 서비스의 제공영역은 안드로이드기반 애플리케이션이다. 시스템의 동작에서 이용자는 갤러리 제작자와 탐방자 두 형태로 나뉘게되며 두 유형의 이용자는 광장(서버)를 검색한 뒤 광장에 입장하며 갤러리 제작자는 개인 광장 메뉴로 들어가며, 갤러리 제작자는 개인 메뉴를 통해 갤러리를 직접 꾸미며 개인이 만족할 수 있는 공간을 만들 수 있다. 갤러리 탐방자는 광장 탐방, 추천 갤러리 검색과 갤러리 점수주기 메뉴를 통해 타인의 갤러리를 방문하고, 감상하며 점수를 부여할 수 있다. 제안한 갤러리어플리케이션은 Unity와 안드로이드 프로그래밍을 이용하여 구현하였다.

Objective: The objective of this study is to investigate the inhibitor effects of an traditional oriental herb, Sophora flavescens on the hepatic and renal side effects of chemotherapy by using B16-BL6 melanoma-injected C57BL6 mouse tumor model. Methods: In this study, the effects of an traditional oriental herb, Sophora flavescens, on the side effects of chemotherapy were studied using B16 melanoma-injected C57BL6 mouse tumor model. Results: Sophora flavescen has significant effect on the reduction of the side effects of chemotherapy. Sophora flavescen recovered the reduction of WBC and RBC during cisplatin chemotherapy. Water extract of Sophora flavescens significantly inhibited cisplatin-induced increase of serum blood urea nitrogen (BUN) which is a good indicator of renal toxicity. Sophora flavescens extract does not decrease the anti-tumor activity of cisplatin showing that it can selectively inhibit side effects of anticancer drugs preserving beneficial effect. Conclusion: Theses results suggest a possibility that Sophora flavescens extract can be used for cancer patients for the reduction of the side effects and improving the quality of Life during chemotherapy of cancer patients.
