In this study, we fabricated porous PLGA microparticles loaded with EGCG by a modified water-in-oil-in-water (W/ O/W) double emulsion solvent evaporation method. The physicochemical properties of the EGCG-loaded PLGA microparticles were studied using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Fourier transformed-infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy and in vitro release measurements. A remarkable burst effect was observed on first stage however the released amount was reduced largely with time. This result showed that the release of EGCG increased by its loading amount. Also, EGCG - loaded PLGA particles inhibited the growth of rat aortic smooth muslce cells (RASMC). This study demonstrates that PLGA microparticle system is potential as an efficient EGCG carrier in medical therapy.

Objective : To explore the effect of intensive sensory integration therapy through daily camp programs for children with sensory modulation disorder. Methods : A comparison of quantitative data and qualitative description between before and after sensory integration therapy camp and main outcome measure was used, including MAP behavior checklist, JSI-2, COPM, sensory history, STEP-SI. Results : The adaptive response was increased and sensory modulation problems were observed less than before the camp. Conclusion : For this study a more diverse, extended and intensive SI program is considered necessary. Further study is needed to develop these findings.

The objective of the present study was to determine the total phenol and flavonoid contents and to evaluate the antioxidant potential, of different solvent extracts (ethyl acetate, n-butanol, chloroform, and water) from Robus idaeus in various radical scavenging models (DPPH activity, superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity, reducing power, and nitrite scavenging activity), along with their antimicrobial potential. Measurement of total phenol and flavonoid content of the ethyl acetate extract of R. idaeus was found to be significantly higher than those of the other extracts. The ethyl acetate extract (at a concentration of $1,000{\mu}g/mL$) showed significantly higher reducing power and DPPH radical scavenging activity as compared to the other extracts. Results were dose-dependent. Moreover, the ethyl acetate extract of R. idaeus ($1,000{\mu}g/mL$) showed potent antioxidant efficacy ($85.5{\pm}1.18%$) as evidenced by nitrite scavenging ability at pH 1.2. All solvent extracts of R. idaeus showed lower SOD-like activity (13.72~20.54%). In addition, the antimicrobial activity of all solvent extracts except water extract showed strong inhibition (inhibitory zones in mm) of Staphylococcus aureus ($19.40{\pm}1.00mm$) and Bacillus cereus ($20.50{\pm}0.21mm$) growth. In particular, ethyl acetate extracts (100 mg/mL) showed antimicrobial activity comparable to that of tetracycline (0.01 mg/mL), which was used as a positive control. The results of this study indicate that the ethyl acetate extract of R. idaeus is a natural antioxidant and antimicrobial, with enriched phenols and flavonoids concentration, that has potential in the development of health-enhancing food products.

This study was carried out to examine physicochemical characteristics of three kinds of commercial spinach produced from three areas(Gyeongbuk Yeongdeok Younghea, Gyeongnam Tongyeong Yongnam, Gyeongnam Tongyeong Gwangdo) in autumn of 2004. The length, weight, moisture, minerals, oxalic acid, chlorophyll, vitamin C, and Hunter's color values of spinach leaves and stem; were determined. Mg, Ca, Na, K, chlorophyll, and vitamin C contents of leaves were higher than those of stems. On the other hand, stem; showed higher contents in Fe, P and oxalic acid Moisture, Mg, Na, Fe, chlorophyll, and vitamin C contents in the spinach leaves from Gwangdo were higher than those from Yongnam and Younghea, but oxalic acid lower a little.

Purpose: The effective management of atopic dermatitis (AD) adjusted to individual clinical courses and demands can be challenging to both patients and physicians. Understanding of actual situations, experienced and perceived by patients with AD and their caregivers, is essential to improve clinical outcomes and satisfaction in real practice.Methods: This multicenter survey was conducted in patients with AD or their caregivers from 9 centers with questionnaires on diagnosis and management of AD.Results: A total of 324 patients and caregivers participated in the study. Most of the AD cases were initially diagnosed by physicians (80.6%), followed by self-diagnosis. Patients and caregivers thought that allergic substances, such as house dust mites, food, and pollutants, are responsible for AD development; moisturization, environmental control, and improvement of the body constitution are important for AD management. Allergy tests were performed in 194 patients (59.9%), but allergen avoidance strategy was instructed in only 81 subjects (41.8%). Major topical medications were steroids (81.8%) and topical immunomodulators (34.3%), while systemic medications were steroids (42.6%), antihistamines (36.4%), and cyclosporins (2.8%). One hundred eighty-one subjects (55.9%) had received complementary alternative medicine, including Oriental medicine. Many subjects desired to receive individualized management, use of specialized institutions for AD as well as evidence-based, effective, sustainable treatment.Conclusion: Our findings suggest that there may still be an unmet need for patients with AD in real practice. Personalized, evidence-based, and multidisciplinary approaches, including patient education, should be implemented for good outcomes. (Allergy Asthma Respir Dis 2016:4:271-275)
한국 다문화사회의 문제와 『소학(小學)』교육 ― 결혼이민여성의 문제를 중심으로―

이 논문에서 한국 다문화사회의 갈등과 과제를 결혼이민여성의 문제를 중심으로 살펴보았다. 현재 한국에서는 많은 결혼이민여성들이 생활하고 있고, 그 증가 속도가 빨라지고 있다. 그리고 현재 한국에서의 다문화가정은 동등한 인격체로서 사랑과 존중을 중심으로 맺어진 혼인(婚姻)이라 보기 어렵다. 이러한 상황에서 결혼이민여성들이 겪는 문화적 갈등과 현실생활의 어려움이 매우 크다. 문제는 우리 사회가 이들이 겪는 고통을 직시하지 못하고, 장래의 소통과 융합을 이룰 수 있는 역량과 사회구조적 환경을 갖추고 있지도 않다. 그러므로 결혼이민여성들이 한국의 건강한 시민으로 합류하기 위해서는 한국인들의 정신적 자세가 변해야 하며, 행정적 지원제도가 원활하게 이루어져야 한다. 그리고 유교(儒敎)문화에 익숙한 대부분의 결혼이민여성들로 이루어진 다문화가정의 교육의 Text로 『소학』의 의미를 살펴보았다. 왜냐하면 『소학』은 지식중심의 교육(Education)이 아니라 도덕인성의 함양하는 교육(Pedagogy)을 중시하기 때문이다. This paper examined the conflict and challenges of Korea’s multi-cultural society focusing on the issue of women’s marriage based immigration. Currently, many female marriage based immigrants are living in Korea and the number is growing much faster. Besides, multi-cultural families especially in Korea are hard to be deemed as a general marriage based on love and respect as an equal human being. In this situation, the difficulties that female married immigrants suffer from cultural conflict and reality are much. The problem lies in that Korean society cannot see the pain they suffer outright nor does it have capabilities and socially structural environment where future communication and conversions are formed. Therefore, for female married immigrants to join the races of heathy Korean citizens, Koreans’ attitude should change and also the administrative support system should be established smoothly. And this paper examined the meaning contained in ‘the Elementary learning (『小學』)’ as educational text for multi-cultural families of female married immigrants skilled at confucius culture. This is because ‘the Elementary learning’ puts more emphasis on Pedagogy that nurtures morality not knowledge centered Education.
국민 참여형 미충족 의료수요 연구개발 아이템 발굴 프로세스 연구

보건복지부의 보건의료기술연구개발사업 기획을 위한 현장 중심의 미충족 의료수요 발굴의 중요성은 지속적으로 제기되어 왔다. 최근 현장 수요의 발굴 개념이 예방·진단·치료·관리 등 보건의료 서비스 전반에 걸쳐 연구를 수행하는 전문가와 제약·의료기기 등 보건의료 산업계의 제품화 수요 이외에, 보건의료기술 관련 제품의 최종 소비자인 의료진과 국민으로까지 확대되고 있는 추세이다. 본 연구에서는 현행 보건의료기술연구개발사업의 연구개발 아이템 발굴 및 선정 절차를 살펴보고 리빙랩 개념을 차용한 국민 참여형 프로세스로의 개선 방향 연구를 통해 시사점을 도출하였다. The importance of field-focused medical unmet needs exploration has been raised continuously for the Ministry of Health and Welfare’s planning for research and development of healthcare technologies. Recently, the concept of finding of field needs has been expanded to medical personnel and the people, who are the ultimate consumer of products from healthcare technologies, in addition to demand of experts who carry out research on healthcare services such as prevention, diagnosis, treatment and management. This study examines the process of finding and selecting current healthcare technology R&D items, and draws implications through research on the direction of improvement to the national participatory process based on the concept of Living Lab.
