Vol.3 No.-

We can say that about 8 years from 1801 till 1809 in Beethoven's work-career is very important in the middle period. When we examine the period in detail, it can be classified as follows: (1) First two years (1801-1802) is a transitional period for the middle period. (2) Next six years (1803-1809) represents a period of works composed in the middle period style. (3) The second half of 1809 is the time when the transition to the later period begins. Though Beethoven suffered from ear-ache at this period, he who overcame such an ordeal made an outstanding development not only as a human being but as a musician. That is, he established the middle period style by composing such famous Sonatas as 'Kreutzer Sonata' (Violin Sonata) and 'Eroica' (Symphony No.3). Beethoven who enlarged and developed the tradition of classic sonata in his composition (Op.22 B^b Major) of large scale equal to the last sonata of early style and six String Quartets (Op.18) got tired of traditional composition which had maintained to those days and tried to abolish the classic tradition and make a new attempt. Such an intention caused him to produce a Sonata of Op. 26 A^b Major. This sonata does not take on its form at all and includes Variation and March for the first time. Therefore four movements are arranged not in an organic way but in an orderly way. Because this sonata does not show new one of which Beethoven thinks, we can say that he tried to escape from the bondage of tradition only by composing Suite-Sonata. In conclusion, Beethoven who began to feel free in Suite-Sonata continued to compose Op. 27, No. 1 & No. 2 and showed a new way clearly.

      • 베에토벤 後期 피아노 소나타의 分析 : Op.106, Op.111의 分析

        李吉子 건국대학교 1980 學術誌 Vol.24 No.2

The sonata form has been the basis of almost all the instrumental works of music, and had decisive influences on all the symphonies of great composers for two hundred years. The importance of sonata form, compared with other musical forms, lies in the fact that it can achieve the unity through varieties. The movements of sonata are not brought together without internal relations. Even if they seem apparently not to be connected, each movement is actually closely interconnected with each other. Whether some of his early sonatas smell of earthy rhythm, whether some works of his middle period sought to take a form of large scale drama, or whether as In his later works, they tried to take on the solemn ring, what was of most concern of Beethoven was "Communication" to audience. The musical language of Beethoven was always a medium full of poetic content as well as inspiration. The gospel of his later sonatas, which are really lucidly composed in simpler form, penetrate deeply into our heart. During his life time Beethoven composed 32 pieces of piano sonatas. They take such a place as the Bible for the piano players and students of piano music. And these sonatas are divided into three groups according to Beethoven's creative activities : No.1-1 1 belong to the early period, No.12-27 to leis middle period, and No.28-32 to the later period. Among the 32 pieces, I dealt with the later work "Hammerklavier Senate op.106," the longest and most problematie work, and "Piano Sonata op.111", his last piano sonata which expresses both aspects of war and peace. I interpret these two works not so much the crystallization of his later works as the conclusion of his life time efforts.

        김오경,최규용,김철민,이창돈,강문원,이길자,정희영 대한감염학회 1982 감염 Vol.14 No.1

In the summer of 1982, we have experienced greater number of adult patients with Japanese encephalitis compared to recent previous years. We have studied 70 adult cases of Japanese encephalitis, which was diagnosed clinically and/or serologically, including clinical characteristics, CSF abnormalities and H-I test. A possible relationship between the prognosis and the results of tests was investigated. The results are as follows. 1) The prevalence was reduced as the age increased. No sexual preponderance was noted. 2) The common symptoms and signs included fever(100%), headache(89%), changes of consciousness(76%), neck stiffness(74%), nausea and/or vomiting(60%), Kernig's sign(41%), enhanced DTR(40%), seizure(6%), Babinski's reflex(3%) in decreasing order. 3) Overall mortality rate was 26%. Highest mortality rate(40%) was observed in the older age group. No sexual difference was noted in mortality rate. 4) The laboratory findings related with poor prognosis were increased CSF pressure, low WBC count, high protein level and low H-I titer.
