        Localization of the SALMFamide neuropeptides in the starfish Marthasterias glacialis

        In echinoderms, the SALMFamide neuropeptides sharing the SxL/FxFamide motif seem widespread throughout the phylum and may be important signalling molecules that mediate various physiological functions. Recent identification of S1 and its analogues, MagS3 and MagS4, along with the S2 analogue, MagS2 from the starfish Marthasterias glacialis, indicated that SALMFamides in the class Asteroidea are more diverse than previously thought. Further, isolation of the neuropeptides from the radial nerve cord and studies on pharmacological actions of the neuropeptides on the cardiac stomach warrant studies on the tissue distributions of these peptides in both the nervous and digestive systems. In the present study, antisera raised against an S1 analogue, KYSALMFamide, and an S2 analogue, KYSGLTFamide, were used to localize the distribution patterns of the S1- and S2-like immunoreactivities (S1-IR/S2-IR) in the nervous and digestive systems of the starfish. In the nervous system, cell bodies in the ectoneural part were immunostained for both S1 and S2 peptides, while in the digestive system, the basiepithelial plexus and mucosal cell bodies were immunoreactive. These immunocytochemical data support the notion that the SALMFamides may play a neuroendocrine role in mediating feeding behaviour of the starfish. Further studies including identification of peptide binding sites and differential expression pattern of mRNAs encoding the peptides are required to elucidate their physiological functions.

        을지로 3가 지하철 ESS를 모의한 ESS 화재에서 Cell Balancing이 미치는 영향성 분석

        Given the change in the energy market, large energy storage systems (ESS) is rapidly entering the market. In this rapid spread, fire accidents are becoming an issue. This study attempts to approach the fire from the system point of view to analyze the problems caused by bonding from different perspectives. Moreover, to conduct this study, the fabrication of real objects is dangerous, which needs to be verified through simulation. In this study, we approach the cause of fire that occurs in large-capacity ESS from the system perspective. We focus on determining the effects of cell balancing performed on the BMS after charging. Thus, we analyze the cell balancing behavior and the linkage risks to the various stacks. The study also explores why no fire occurs during 70% operation.

        Variations of total protein, lipid, and glycogen contents were mearsured, to observe adaptations for seasonal changes of crustacea. Materials were collected every month, and were homogenized whole body. And results are as follows. 1.All of protein, lipid, and glycogen contents are shown the similar variations to reproduction cycle and food avarable. 2.Protein content are higher in the summer, during the active growth season, after the reproduction than in the autum to next spring, for develop the gonads. 3.Lipid content is increased to development of gonads, and then decreased after reproduction. 4.Females appear to be richer while males are richer protein content.5. Glycogen content is the highest in the June after reproduction, and is the lowest in the winter.

        Comparative Studies of Bile Acid Release in the Mature Male Lampreys

        A comparative study of bile acid components from four lamprey species revealed that mature male chestnut lamprey Ichthyomyzon castaneus can produce 3 keto petromyzonol sulfate (3kPZS) while mature males of Pacific lamprey Lampetra tridentata, river lamprey Lampetra fluviatilis and American brook lamprey Lethenteron appendix produce petromyzonol sulfate (PZS). Identification of 3kPZS from a group of ancient lamprey species and of PZS from recently derived species led to a speculation that differentiation of bile acid biosynthetic systems has taken place during the course of evolution. Further studies on the biological functions of different bile acids in the adult lampreys are required to understand the evolution of chemical communication in lampreys.

        방게의 혈구는 투명혈구, 소과립혈구, 그리고 대과립혈구로 동정되었다. 투명혈구의 모양은 세포질에 비해 큰 핵을 가지며, 세포질에는 난형의 전자밀도가 약한 과립과 소포 및 소포체들이 관찰된다. 소과립혈구는 투명혈구보다 더 작은 핵을 가지며, 세포질에는 잘 발달된 소포체, 골지체, 그리고 작은 원형의 전자밀도가 강한 과립을 갖는다. 대과립혈구는 소과립들이 서로 융합해서 된 전자밀도가 강한 대과립들을 갖는다. 방게의 혈구는 투명혈구로 부터 대과립혈구로 발달한다. 즉 리소솜효소를 갖는 투명혈구의 과립들은 핵막으로 부터 작은 소포들을 형성하며, 이 소포들이 골지체를 통과하면서 전자밀도가 강한 물질로 채워지고, 이 작은 소과립들을 융합하면서 대과립이 된다. 모든 혈구에는 글리코겐 입자들이 산재한다. 대과립혈구들 중 과립의 소멸현상으로 생각되는 이형과립들이 존재한다. In Helice tridens tridens, hylaine cells, small granulocytes, and large granulocytes were identified. Features of hyaline cells include a large nucleus in proportion to the cytoiplasm, and weak electron-dense granules of oval shape and vesicles, and endoplasmic reticulum (ER) in the cytoplasm. Small granulocytes have smaller nucleus than that of the hyaline cells, well-developed ER, Golgi complex, and small, round and electron-dense granules in the cytoplasm. Large granulocytes contain large and electron dense granules (ahout 1 $\mu$m) that fused small granules. Hemocytes of Helice tridens tridens differentiated from hyaline cell to large granulocyte granules of hyaline cells have lysosome and make small vesicles from nuclear envelopes. While these vesicles pass through the Golgi complex, they are filled with electron dense matetials, and then fused with the small granules. They eventually matured into large granules. All of hemocytes have the glycogen particles. In the large granulocytes heterogeneouse granules were supposed to occur by disappearance of granules.

        Anaerobiosis of Pseudomonas aeruginosa: Implications for Treatments of Airway Infection

        Pseudomonas aeruginosa, as an opportunistic pathogen, establishes a chronic infection in the respiratory track of patients suffering from pneumonia and bronchiectasis, including cystic fibrosis. Biofilm formation inside the oversecreted mucus layer lining the patient airway and production of virulence factors, a process controlled by quorum sensing, are considered to be the major virulence determinants in P. aeruginosa pathogenesis. Recently, an abnormally thickened mucus layer was proven to be anaerobic. Given the fact that currently used antibiotics are less effective under anaerobic environments, these new findings lead us to change the way we confront P. aeruginosa infection. This article reviews pathological features of patient airways that become susceptible to P. aeruginosa infection and bacterial adaptation that contributes to the prolonged survival inside the patient airway.

        Recently, lithium batteries have been used everywhere. Lithium batteries have the problem of explosion or ignition as opposed to the rechargeable advantage. Therefore, a protection circuit is used for the safety of the battery. One of the typical functions of this BMS(Battery Management System) is capacity and life measurement. The most basic way to measure of the battery is to use the OCV-SOC table. Initially, the only information we can find is temperature and voltage, so we can use the voltage and temperature to predict the state of charge of the battery. However, this prediction only holds when the voltage red from battery is OCV(Open Circuit Voltage). In the case of BMS, since the voltage is not recorded in the OFF state, the calculation is performed assuming that a hour break time is stabilized using the RTC(Real Time Clock). This is an experience gained through several charge and discharge experiments. However, the authors of this paper do not know about the influence of temperature on the change. It is intended to observe the stabilization time by temperature change.
