        This research is based on a survey about how female adults utilize obesity control programs, focusing on kinds of obesity control programs they use and the effectiveness of those programs. The survey was conducted to 200 female adults living in Changwon city, Gyungsangnam-do, who has participated in any obesity control program. The survey results show that a lot of female adults perceive themselves over-weighted and try to control their weight in various ways. Dietary treatments, physical exercises, and behavior modification therapies were utilized dominantly, but medication and surgery were also utilized. As far as the medication is concerned, it is reported that it produces various side-effects and its effects are questionable. Since it has been found that any obesity control efforts intended to obtain quick effects are very likely to do harm the person`s health as well as his or her daily life, people`s perception about normal weight should be corrected and more research efforts to develop safe obesity control programs should be encouraged.

        초등학생이 지각한 부모자녀 의사소통과 학업무기력간의 관계에서 학업적 실패내성의 매개효과

        본 연구의 목적은 우리나라 초등학생의 학업무기력에 부모자녀 의사소통이 어떤 영향을 미치는지 확인하고, 이러한 영향 관계를 학업적 실패내성이 매개하는지를 확인하는 것이다. 이를 위해 중부권 2개 초등학교 5, 6학년 학생 480명에게 부모자녀 의사소통척도, 학업적 실패내성척도, 학업무기력척도를 활용하여 자료를 수집하여 분석한 결과, 다음과 같은 연구결과를 도출하였다. 첫째, 초등학생이 지각한 부모자녀 의사소통과 학업적 실패내성은 정적상관을, 부모자녀 의사소통과 학업무기력은 부적상관을, 학업적 실패내성과 학업무기력은 부적상관을 보였다. 둘째, 초등학생이 지각한 부모자녀 의사소통과 학업무기력 간의 관계에서 학업적 실패내성은 부분매 개효과를 갖는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 연구결과를 토대로, 초등학생들의 학업무기 력을 감소시키기 위해 부모자녀 의사소통과 학업적 실패내성에 대한 교육상담적 개입의 필요성을 제안하였다. The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of parent-child communication on the academic helplessness of elementary school students in Korea and to confirm whether these relations are mediated by academic failure tolerance. For this purpose, data were collected and analyzed for 480 elementary school students(5th∼6th graders) using the parent-child communication scale, academic failure tolerance scale, and academic helplessness scale, the following study results were derived. First, there were positive correlation between parent-child communication with academic failure tolerance, negative correlation between parent-child communication with academic helplessness, and negative correlation between academic failure tolerance with academic helplessness. Second, academic failure tolerance has a partial mediating effect on the relation between parent-child communication and academic helplessness in elementary school students. Implications and limitations of the study and suggestions for further study were discussed.

        음악요법이 치매노인의 인지, 문제행동, 수면에 미치는 효과

        Objective : The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of the music therapy on cognition, problematic behavior, and sleep disturbance in elderly with dementia. Method : The study was designed using a nonequivalent control group pretest-posttest design. The subjects comprised of 39 elders (Experimental group : 19, Control group : 20) who living in D city. The instruments used for this study were the MMSE, problematic behavior assessment tool, and sleep assessment instrument. The data were analyzed using SPSS 17.0 program. Results : The repeated measure ANOVA revealed that the music therapy had the effect on the problematic behavior and sleep. There were statistically significant differences in problematic behavior between the pretest and posttest in the experimental group. Conclusion : The study suggests that the music therapy can be applied for the aged with dementia to improve the problematic behaviors.
