In this paper, we introduce the appoaches that aim to improve user experience in mobile device by the use of multiple vibration signal feedback, conducted by Haptics and Virtual Reality laboratory at POSTECH. We introduce current progresses of our 'Vibrotactile flow using multiple vibration actuators' and 'Real-time dual-channel haptic music player.' The 'Vibrotactile flow using multiple vibration actuators' produces vibrotactile flow sensations by using multiple actuators and that improves the information transfer on mobile devices. The 'Real-time dual-channel haptic music player' generates vibrotactile sensation by transforming auditory signal, which improves the user experience of mobile devices. These approaches can be good examples to fulfill the demands of better information transfer capability and user experience on mobile devices. 본 논문에서는 모바일 기기에서 사용자 경험의 향상을 위해 다중 진동신호를 활용하는 연구로, 포항공과대학교 햅틱스 및 가상현실 연구실의 '다중 진동자를 사용한 촉각 흐름'과 '실시간 이중 채널 촉감 음악 재생기'의 연구 현황을 소개한다. '다중 진동자를 사용한 촉각 흐름'은 여러 개의 진동자를 사용하여 흐르는 듯한 진동을 생성함으로써 다수의 구분 가능한 진동 신호를 제공할 수 있으며 이를 통한 정보 전달력의 향상을 도모할 수 있다. '실시간 이중 채널 촉감 음악 재생기'는 음악적 신호를 진동 신호로 변환하여 제공함으로써 사용자들로 하여금 더 나은 경험을 제공할 수 있다. 이러한 사례들은 향후 예상되는 모바일 기기에서의 더 많은 정보 전달과 더 나은 사용자 경험에 대한 요구를 충족시키기 위한 좋은 예가 될 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

This study investigates what criterion airline customers recognize important when evaluating airline firms. Specifically it is surveyed if different criterion are used by different groups of airline customers when choosing an airline firm. In addition customer group with high loyalty to 'K' airline, national carrier of Korea, is differently evaluate 'K' airline for the selection criterion over customer group without loyalty. Frequent flyer program is suggested most important by most of the customers being followed by flight schedule. Flight schedule, in-flight food and air fare of 'K' airline are differently evaluated according to level of royalty to the airline. However there appears no difference in the evaluation of seat and entertainment between two groups, customers with high loyalty and customers without loyalty.

FeetNavi: 시각 장애인의 길찾기를 위한 족부 진동 피드백 시스템

본 연구에서는 시각 장애인의 길 찾기(Blind navigation)를 돕기 위한 족부 햅틱 피드백 시스템으로 FeetNavi 를 구현하였다. 사용자 실험을 통해 널리 쓰이는 보조 수단인 흰 지팡이와 길 찾기의 성능을 비교함으로써 그 효용성을 확인하였다. 사용자 실험 결과, FeetNavi 는 실내 길 찾기 Task 에서 흰 지팡이에 비해 유의미하게 우수한 성능을 보였으며, 사용성 조사 결과 직관적이고 유용하다는 피실험자들의 반응을 확인할 수 있었다.

주 5일 근무의 확산, 여가 활동에 대한 변화된 태도 등의 요인과 맞물려 농촌지역이 관광객들이 머무르며 휴식을 취할 수 있는 장소로 인식되고 있다. 또한 정부에서는 농업 증진만으로 농촌지역을 발전시키기에는 부족하다고 판단하고 있다. 농업을 발전시키는 것 외에 농업관광이 농촌지역의 수입을 증대시키고 국가 통합 및 지역 간 균형발전에 많은 기여를 하고 있다고 인식되고 있다. 본 연구는 이러한 인식하에 농촌관광을 촉진하는데 농촌 주민들의 참여를 독려하고 농촌관광을 활성화시킬 방안을 도출하는 것을 목적으로 한다. Wide adoption of the five-day workweek at workplace and the changed attitude toward leisure, the recognition that a rural area is the place where tourist can stay and take a rest is widely spread. The government`s judgment is that only agricultural development is not sufficient in developing a rural area. Farm village tourism greatly affects in increased income of a farm village, nation integration and balanced development of the nation land. This study aims to seek for a device which encourages rural residents to participate in the process of pursuing rural tourism promotion and the method to be able to activate rural tourism.

해외골프관광객의 라이프스타일 특성에 따른 참여동기 분석

The purpose of this study was to investigate the participation motives based on life-styles of foreign golf tourists. The result was as follows : 1. In sex, women had higher evaluation on traditionalism than men while men had higher on accomplishment than women. In age, stronger aspects on fashion-pursuing as they were younger while higher on traditionalism and accomplishment as older. And in educational level, higher traditionalism and accomplishment as more educated people. In yearly income, higher fashion-pursuing as smaller income while higher accomplishment as bigger. 2. In sex, higher on purposes like resort pleasure, other purposes to men than women. In age, stronger on self-expression and area specialty as younger while stronger on other purposes as older. In educational level, pay more on institution and expenses as the lower educated while place more weight on other purposes as the higher educated. In yearly income, higher on other purposes as the more income. 3. The fashion-pursuing affected positively on institution and expense. The discontent affected negatively on area specialty. The fashion-pursuing and accomplishment affected positively on self-expression while the discontent affected in the other way. The fashion-pursuing affected positively on resort pleasure while the discontent affected the opposite. The fashion-pursuing and the accomplishment affected positively on other purposes.

본 연구에서는 고성능의 진동자들에 적용하기 위한 복잡한 진동 자극을 설계하기 위하여 음악의 화음 개념을 이용한 새로운 진동 자극의 설계 방법을 제시하였으며, 이를 "진동 화음"이라 명명하였다. 이 "진동 화음"은 서로 다른 주파수를 가진 정현파(sinusoid) 진동을 음악 화음의 구조와 유사하게 중첩하여 생성되었다. 실험에서는 이 "진동 화음"의 인지를 알아보기 위하여 다양한 조건의 진동화음에 대하여 어울림의 정도를 나타내는 척도인 협화도를 평가하고, 어울림과 어울리지 않음에 대한 피험자의 평가 기준을 조사하였다. 실험에 참가한 피험자들은 비교적 뚜렷한 기준을 가지고 협화도를 평가하였으며, 이러한 피험자들의 기준은 과거 진동 인지 실험 결과와 어느 정도 유사성이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 이 "진동 화음"의 개념은 최근의 고성능 진동자들을 위한 진동을 설계하는 데 직접적으로 활용될 수 있다. We proposed a new design method for complex vibrotactile stimuli which uses the concept of musical chord for current wideband actuators. That is, a few sinusoidal vibrations with different frequencies are superimposed, called as "vibrotactile chords." In experiment, a set of "vibrotactile chords"were designed and evaluated their degrees of consonance to study their perception. The results indicated that the participants could robustly rate the degree of consonance of the vibrotactile chords and established a well-defined relation of the degree of consonance from the base and chordal frequencies of a vibrotactile chord. Participants' criteria for consonance and dissonance were related to several adjectives which were used in earlier findings. Our "vibrotactile chords" concept can be directly applied to design complex vibrotactile signals for the latest wideband actuators.
