        This study is to prove that meta-linguistic activity of contemporary architects is due to the effort to set the new relation between Architecture and Urbanism.<br/> The methodology made on that process - using diagram, etc - is categorized according to the relation to Urban Conditions (Flow, Terrain vague, and Mutation) in searching for common rules behind them.<br/> Urban- Architecture Methodology is characterized as that includes the causal sequence according to Urban Conditions. It consists of two different levels - Urbanism-Architecture and Architectural thought process, which have similar system characterized by self-similarity and recursiveness.<br/> Therefore, it becomes more important the role of the architect as a programmer to construct the system.

        Optimal design of shell and tube heat exchanger system with the working fluids which may condense outside the tubes has been carried out under specified inlet and outlet conditions. Independent variables such as number of parallel series, tube diameter, distribution pitch, tube side pressure loss, baffle cut and shell side pressure loss as well as dependent variables such as shell diameter, number of tubes, number of serial series and number of baffles were all characterized according to the standard. Exhaustive search method was used to construct a computer program together with the calculation of heat transfer rate by LMTD method. stress analysis of maj or parts was made to examine their dimensions satisfying heat transfer and pressure loss requirements. Cost estimation based on the installation, operation and maintenance was also made, A few representative variables, heat transfer area, shell diameter and pressure loss, were used to express cost function, finally giving the optimal selection of all tentative solutions.

      • 미국 흰불나방 방제(防除)에 관한 연구

        1. Objective and Imprtance Fall webworms which happened to occer in Seoul in 1958 are now wpreading over Kyonggi, Kangwon, Chungnam, Chungbuk, Kyongbuk, Kyongnam, Chonrnam and Chonbuk provinces to damege caused by the pest is increasing year by year, so that the government mobllized a enormous expenditure and persons for controlling the pest but it did not give any satisfactory effectiveness. Now, the fall webworms are spreading on the roadside and garcen trees but if the pest would attack the trees in orchard and in field throughout the country, it should meet difficulties to control the pest, In this prspect, the study on the most economical and durable control method for fall webworm is one of the most urgent problems. 2. Plan of Work and Scope of Activities For understanding the state damaged by fall webworms, the present distributional limit and the damage of the pest throughout the country were surveyed, because it has passed about ten years since the attack of the pest. And the fall webworm was already parasitized by the natural enemies proper in Korea. So, the parasitism by them was surveyed and the basis for multiplicable measure of the natrual enemies proper having the hifhest parasitism was prepared. On the other hand, the Entomological Institute attempted the artificial multiplication of the natural enemies introduced from the original habitat of the pest and simultaneously, the possibility of their settlement in Korea was examined. 3. Results of Work 1) In 1967, the fall wdbworms were spread over the roadside trees of centering Seoul, Kyonggi, Kangwon, Chungbuk and Chungnam in the lst generation(June, July) and in the 2nd generation, they were further spread over Kyongbuk(to Taigu), Chonbuk (at Iri) and Chonnam (at Kwangju). Moreover, according to the result of investigation for Seoul district, the averate damage of roadside trees was 30.2% in the lst generation but in the 2nd generation, it increased by 62.5% in average. 2) Various species of insects proper in Korea, seven species of parasitic wasps, five species of parasitic flies, 2 species of predators, and 1 species of parasitic fungus were attacking the fall webworm and their parasitisms were surveyed. Of 1,138 samples, the parasitism by insect proper was 4.2% and of them, the parasitisms by Brachymeria obscurata was the highest by 1.56% particularly the highest by 5.8% in Wooidong area. Accordingly, if the multiplication of Brachymeria obscurata and Pteromatus puparum are to be attempted, their parasitisms will be greatly increased. 3) The natural enemies of the pest were introduced form the original habiat, that is, U.S.A, particularly Arkansas and New Jeraey districts which are similiar to our country is latitude and attempted their multiplication experiment. Two species. Pldisus placidus and Coleoniegilla maculata were imported at the suitable period, and the multiplication of them and the possibilities of settlement were studied. However, the following four species, apnteles hyphantriae, Meteorus hyphantriae, Campoplex vatidus and Mericia ampelus were imported at the and of September, whereas the experiment for multiplication of them was not carried out enoughly. Therefore, this study should be developed continuously in the next year. 4) The parasitism of the natural enemies proper is low as mentioned above. In addition to this, if the imported natural enemies were multiplicated and settled to attack the pest, the control of the pest would be possible. 4. Recommendations for Utilization of the Results of Work It was not enough to carry out the experiments on the importation, multiplication and possibility of settlement of natural enemies from the original habitat of the pest satisfactorily for six months, whereas many problems including the state of pests overwintering in the new environment, the beginning of action in spring in relation to the appearing perion the pest are still remained. Besides this problems, the habitat of imported natural enemies at the time when the pest disappeated, should be studied, too Accordingly, to solve such problems, the steady study must be done. And the mass importation of natural enemies attacking the pests during the period of egg, larva and pupa of fall webworm should be attempted. Coleomegilla maculata and Apanteles hyphantriae, attacking the eggs, Campoplex validus and Podisus p;acidus the larvae, and Mericia ampelus the pupae, which are imported massively at the suitable period, should be mass produced at the Forest Experiment Station. And then, the natural enemies multiplicated thus are liberated into the field to be settled there, whereas the natural balance of the pests and natural enemies should be made in the nature. Until getting the balance between the pest and nuatral enemies in the damated branches of roacside trees in occuring area should be accompanid, too.
