        Electrical Properties in Free-standing GaN Substrates Fabricated by Hydride Vapor-phase Epitaxy and Self-separation Technique

        The authors report on the electrical properties of free-standing GaN substrates, using one typicalset of low crystalline quality (type I) and high crystalline quality (type II), fabricated by hydridevapor-phase epitaxy and self-separation technique. Type I has a large electron concentration of1018 cm−3 and a small electron mobility of 85 cm2/Vsec while type II has a small electronconcentration of 5 × 1015 cm−3 and a large electron mobility of 400 cm2/Vsec. In type I,the electron concentration decreases with the decrease of temperature until a critical temperatureand then increases at lower temperatures while in type II, the electron concentration continuouslydecreases with the decrease of temperature. These different electrical properties are ascribed to thedifference in the structural defect densities of the two samples. These indicate that the electrontransportmechanism of the defective free-standing GaN substrates is dominated by the two-bandconduction model. These results are consistent with the temperature dependence of the electronmobility and with the structural properties observed by using high-resolution X-ray diffraction andatomic-force microscopy.

        Comparative Study of Photoluminescences for the Ga-/N-faces of a Free-standing GaN Bulk Fabricated by Using Hydride Vapor-phase Epitaxy and Self-separation Technique

        We report on the comparative study of photoluminescences for the Ga-/N-faces of free-standing GaN bulk, fabricated by hydride vapor-phase epitaxy and self-separation technique. It is found that the Ga-face and the N-face of the same bulk have the apparently different optical properties: i) the Ga-face has well-defined excitionic emission lines, while the N-face has just broad emission peaks at the similar energy levels; and ii) the Ga-face is characterized by the transition crossover between DoX and FXA with the change in temperature, while the N-face is characterized by the change of dominant emission mechanism in the order of DoX, 3.43 eV emission, DoAo pair and eAo, and FXA with the increase in temperature from 10 K to room temperature. On the other hand, it is shown that the N-face has rougher surface morphology and larger density of edge dislocations, which is ascribed to the structural imperfections generated during the lift-off process. Also, it is shown that the N-face has higher conductivity and larger electron concentration, which indicates that the N face contains larger density of donor-type defects. It is suggested that the different emission mechanism of the Ga-/N-faces in the free-standing GaN bulk is ascribed to the fact that the N-face contains larger density of electrically active radiative and nonradiative recombination centers generated during the self-separation process.

        금융시장 충격 전염 이론에 관한 서베이

        This paper introduces studies that have attempted to make theoretical explanations on financial market shocks and contagion effects and explores their implications. As mechanisms of shock contagion and amplification, we introduce theory models focusing on portfolio readjustment; the limitation on investors’ management and borrowing; changes in risk evading level, asymmetry and imperfection of information; debtor and creditor relations among banks; limited ability of investors in terms of collection and process of information; and homogenization of investor behavior. With these models, we try to identify mechanisms in the contagion of financial market shocks in recent times and explore their implications on policy alternatives. 본고에서는 금융시장에서 충격(shock)의 전염현상(contagion)에 관하여 이론적 설명을시도한 연구를 소개하고 그 시사점을 살펴보도록 한다. 충격의 전염 및 증폭 메커니즘으로 포트폴리오의 재조정, 투자자의 운용·차입 등의 제약, 위험회피도의 변동, 정보의 비대칭성 및 불완전성, 금융기관간의 채권·채무의 연계, 투자자의 정보수집 및 처리능력의한계와 투자자 행동의 동질화 현상 등에 주목한 이론모형에 관하여 소개하는 한편 이를통해 최근 빈발하는 금융시장에서의 전염현상의 전염 메커니즘과 이에 대응한 효율적정책대안에 관한 시사점을 모색하였다.

        통화위기의 발생 메커니즘과 전염이론에 관한 서베이

        This paper discusses theoretical explanations of currency crises and the contagion from them. We provide a basic introduction to the frameworks of three classical currency crisis models and assess each model’s implications. We then introduce a global game approach in these crisis models, which helps to overcome the limits found in them. Based on our global game analysis, we explain contagion between two economies. 본고는 통화위기의 발생 메커니즘과 그 전염경로에 대하여 이론적 설명을 시도한 연구를 소개하고 그 시사점을 도출하였다. 전통적인 통화위기 모형(1·2·3세대 모형)의 기본적인 이론을 정리하고 각 모형의 시사점과 한계를 평가하였다. 아울러 글로벌 게임이론(global game theory)을 적용하여 전통적인 통화위기 모형의 한계와 위기의 전염현상에 관한 새로운 관점에서의 접근방식을 소개하였다.

        Social Capital and Firm Innovation: Evidence from Cooperative Banking in Korea

        This study investigates the link between social capital and firm innovation by examining the cooperative banking channel in Korea. Social capital has a positive impact on the activities of cooperative banks, thus fostering innovation in regional firms. We first confirm a positive association between social capital and firm innovation in Korea and find that firms located in provinces with higher social capital innovate more. We then show that social capital positively influences firm innovation mainly through the cooperative banking channel. Further, we demonstrate that the cooperative banking channel is more pronounced in regions where cooperative banks are riskier, human capital is less, and commercial banking is less developed.

      • ZnO 酸化物半導體를 利用한 紫外線 光센서에 관한 硏究

        分子線에피택시法으로 成長한 ZnO 酸化物半導體를 利用하여 製作한 쇼트키배리어 다이오드에 대하여 紫外線 光센서로서의 光特性을 調査한다. 첫째, 白色光 照射時 飽和電流値가 100倍 以上 增加하는 光여기 特性을 나타낸다. 둘째, 照射하는 빛의 波長에 대하 390nm의 遮斷長波長을 갖으며 195nm 以上의 밴드폭을 갖는 波長感度特性을 나타낸다. 셋째, 紫外線에 대해 0.36msec의 時定數 갖는 것으로 評價된다. 따라서, ZnO 酸化物半導體는 向後 紫外線 光센서소자의 材科로서 期待되어진다.

        본고는 통화위기의 발생 메커니즘과 그 전염경로에 대하여 이론적 설명을 시도한 연구를 소개하고 그 시사점을 도출하였다. 전통적인 통화위기 모형(1·2·3세대 모형)의 기본적인 이론을 정리하고 각 모형의 시사점과 한계를 평가하였다. 아울러 글로벌 게임이론(global game theory)을 적용하여 전통적인 통화위기 모형의 한계와 위기의 전염현상에 관한 새로운 관점에서의 접근방식을 소개하였다.
